My opinion on Remarried Empress doesn't really change. It's a story with lost potential and exploring it has always been fun. Tbh I'm already way past the "hating" stage after being invested for half a decade lol.

The fandom on the other hand is practically opening a can of worms. A lot of people are tearing themselves apart over a lightnovel and talking about unexplored issues and completely ignoring what the story is about. I won't deny myself that the author got lost on writing the halfway of the story but seeing people completely alter the characters to fit the narrative they want makes me sad as someone who genuinely appreciates the story and the characters in it.

I honestly don't want to talk about the story's inner classism (the last thing I want to have rn is the fandom coming after me) but the main issue is the author including slavery as Rashta's background and used it to make up a sympathetic story for her. Slavery has been a controversial topic for a long time and the author has failed on writing about it mainly because they made Rashta suffer while Navier gets everything she wanted. The author was unaware of all the political/historical aspects of slavery and potential backlash they'd receive on this story and.. yea all chaos fire.

interesting how ergi is always compared to different things by different characters. alessia compares him to a fairytale prince when they first met, rashta says he's a handsome devil, and angel calls him delicate like a flower.

A handsome devil because of his promiscous and bastardous nature and yet a fragile flower because he holds the people close to him dearly 🥹 his character makes me brawl.

Imagine mercilessly ruining other people's lives but doesn't have the heart to hurt Alessia, all because she "saved" him. Wanting nothing else but to disappear but also not to because he doesn't want his mother to be completely abandoned. Feeling guilt for hurting others but continuing to do so anyway because he's stuck in the past.

Everything about him is so contradicting tbh I can go on and on about his bs. It's like peeling off layers but it just won't run out.
