Nice Boys
Mashiho x reader
Genre: Brother’s best friend! au, neighbour! au, fluff (Lots of it cause I’m soft), a bit of arguing (angst..?), Older Brother! Jihoon, best friend! Doyoung
Warning(s): swearing (I mean, its me, so you should know I swear like a trucker), but that pretty much it
Summary: Your older brother has a really cute best friend, and its gotten harder and harder to deny your feelings for the nice boy next door, especially when you go on a group camping trip with him :)
A/N: Ya’ll Mashiho makes me such a soft stan holy shit. He’s literally the cutest man on earth and I needed a self indulgent fic. In all honesty, I got inspired by the song Nice Boys by Temporex and for some reason it reminds me of Mashi; so I hope you enjoy :)
“(Y/N), get out. We’re going to use the Playstation.”
Your older brother Jihoon waltzed into the living room, making a b-line to the tv where he blocks you from watching your show.
“Hey!” You chirped as he changed the input of the TV to the Playstaion, “I was here first asshole! and it’s the season premiere!” Jihoon crouches down and starts fiddling with the console, not even acknowledging you with a glance. Frustrated, you use the remote to change the input back to your show and you hear Jihoon sigh.
“You can go watch in your room on your laptop.” He suggested, but it sounded more like instruction; Jihoon then changes the input back to the Playstation “Me and shiho can’t play Fifa in my room, now can we?”
“No, but I was kinda already in the middle of my episode before you came barging in, so couldn’t you just wait until I’m done?” You replied stubbornly, switching the input yet again.
“Quit it!” Jihoon pouts before coming over to you to take the remote from you. You do your best to keep it from him, but since he was older and stronger that you, it was unsuccessful. He changes the input for a final time and you huff out in annoyance and sink further into the couch. You hear the toilet flush and sink go from the hallway bathroom, alerting you where the other boy was.
“Hey, did you get it all set up?” You hear a sweet voice ask your brother; its one you so clearly recognize.
“Oh, what’s up (Y/N)?” Mashiho, your next-door neighbor and brother’s best friend greeted you, his pretty smile melting your insides, “I didn’t know you’d be here.” Before you had the chance to respond, your brother interrupted you and and answered his friend for you.
“She was just leaving actually,” Jihoon confirmed, glaring at you, “Don’t you have your precious show to go finish?” Mashiho plops down on the couch, reaching for a controller that was on the coffee table as the game started up.
“Were you using the TV?” He asked, eyes widening cutely at the realization, “We don’t have to play right now if you are watching something...”
“Dude, I just finished setting everything up...” Jihoon groaned, sitting beside his friend and beginning the match, “She can watch her show somewhere else.” You smiled softly at the kindhearted guy in front of you and stood up from your spot on the couch.
“Thank’s for the concern,” You replied flatly before giving the younger boy a shy smile, feeling all giddy inside, “but its okay. I’ll just watch it on my computer. Have fun!” You scurried out of the room and down the hallway to your bedroom before closing the door behind you.
Mashiho had been your neighbor for about six years now, moving from Japan to study abroad. He had met Jihoon in his first week of settling in, having to come over to ask for the basketball that went over your fence. The boys had played 1-on-1 until dark that day and had been inseparable ever since. Jihoon had always seemed very fond of the sweet, cheerful neighbor boy, spending most of his free time with Mashiho. And your parents loved him just as much, as he was always polite and respectful in your home whenever he visited. When you were younger, you used to tag along with the boys too; but as time passed, You got friends of your own and grew busy with school and you stopped hanging out with your brother and his friends.
But you had a bit of a secret. Ever since you met him, you totally fell for Mashiho; now you couldn’t talk to him without feeling your heart race and butterflies go crazy in your stomach. He was just so kind and understanding, smart and athletic, not to mention how he somehow made simple everyday things seem cute or attractive. Yep, you definitely liked him... But you could never actually date him. Your brother would lose it on you, not to mention Mashiho would never feel the same way about you. Not in 100 years.
As you sat on you bed, trying to calm your racing heart, you decided to text Doyoung, your best friend.
(Y/N): Gosh, how can sitting down on the couch be adorable?O///O
You knew that he would respond quickly, as he was attached to his phone like any other teenager. Just as you log into your computer, you heard a ping! from your phone and then a another right after it.
Dokki~: Bruh
Dokki~: I hate how I already know where this is coming from and who it’s about.
(Y/N): I can’t help it homie! He’s just so handsome ughhhhhh
Dokki~: Then ask him outttttttttt
(Y/N): I can’tttttttttt!
(Y/N): Jihoon would have my neck. besides, its not like he’d even like me back
Dokki~: Ik ik. I’m just sick of hearing about how “wOnDeRfUL mAsHiHo Is!!!!” for you to do nothing like a loser :p
You chuckled at you friend, who was just complaining to complain. You put up with months of him gushing about how Vanessa Park’s bangs look so much more pretty when parted to the left instead of the right; so it was only fair that Doyoung had to deal with your endless rants of how great Mashiho was.
You were so engrossed in your conversation, you didn’t notice your door crack open a bit and a shy face peek into your room.
(Y/N): eat my ass whore
(Y/N): You’re just jealous I have feelings, unlike you, Mr. Psychopath
Dokki~: I have feelings! Right now I’m feeling like you should make your move or shut the fuck up :)
“Wow.” Mashiho grinned, stepping into your room while simultaneously scaring the shit out of you, “Your room is really nice!” You quickly close your phone and pause you long forgotten show.
“I’m sorry if I startled you!” He apologized, coming closer and sitting on the edge of your bed,”I knocked and came in after I didn’t hear a response...”
“Sorry about that!” You moved your laptop closer to you to make more room on the bed for the boy to sit, “I was busy texting my friend.” You look at him to see him scanning your room, seemingly taking a mental picture of every detail. When he noticed you staring at him, he beamed brightly, causing you to avert your gaze out of embarrassment.
“So, what are you watching?” He asked, scooting close to you to get a look at your screen. You caught a whiff of mint and fresh cotton when he leaned close, brushing his shoulder against yours. You could feel the warmth radiating from his body as he was engrossed in the screen of your laptop.
“It’s (show name).” You responded, feeling nervous. His head perked up and his eyes sparkled just a bit and he turned to look at you, gaze meeting yours.
“No way!” Mashiho exclaimed, excitement evident in his voice, “That’s my favorite show! We should totally watch it together sometime.” The thought of spending time with Mashiho made your heart skip a beat.
“Sure.” You blurt out, way too aware of how close his face is to yours and how warm he his against you.
“Really?” He asked, tilting his head slightly, like a puppy discovering something new, “That sounds awesome!” Mashiho then hopped off your bed, standing by the very foot of it.
“anyways, I just wanted to thank you for giving up the TV.” He said with a tiny bow, “I should get going. Sorry for bothering you.” Just before he left your room, you remembered the last text you received from Doyoung. There was no way you were going to confess, but there was some baby steps you felt just bold enough to make.
“Hey Mashiho!” You called out, only to see the man in front of you turn to face you again; You suddenly felt anxious, although it wasn’t that big of a deal, “Y-you can come visit my room anytime! I mean... If you want to...” You can see his beautiful smile widen at your words before nodding, letting out the softest ‘okay’, and closing the door behind him.
You exhale a breath you didn’t notice you were holding and slump back on your bed. It didn’t seem like much, but it could possibly be the step needed for your and your brother’s best friend’s relationship to blossom.
______________________________________________________________
“(Y/N), pass the Pringles up here.” Jihoon reached his arm back towards you, without taking his eyes off the road and opened the palm of his hand. You gladly complied, stacking a few of the chips in your brother’s hand only to watch him shove them all in his mouth at once and return his hands to the wheel.
You were going on a fun camping trip over spring break; you parents had suggested that it would be “a good way for you to bond” with Jihoon, yet they let each of you bring a friend anyways; it was no surprise who you both invited.
“Oh man, this song slaps!” Mashiho said, turning up the volume and playing the air guitar along with the music, slouched down in the front seat. Seeing him so giddy and excited made your heart grow weak and you opted for looking out the window instead. You feel a couple taps to your knee and look up to see Doyoung, who waved his phone at you before turning towards his own window. Just then you got a notification that was not surprising at all.
Dokki~: Just saying, you STINK
You laugh at your best friend before playfully hitting him on the shoulder out of revenge.
“Ow what was that for?” Doyoung pouted, feigning hurt before grinning at you.
“I do not stink, Kim Doyoung!” You corrected, punching him light enough not to hurt him, “You’re the one that doesn’t shower...” He rolls his eyes as he catches your hand, sticking his tongue out at you before letting you go.
As all this shenanigans goes on, you don’t notice a pair of eyes glancing back at the two of you, observing your behavior. The music was long forgotten, as the way you giggled and teased Doyoung was much more interesting to the man in the passenger’s seat.
“Hey, could you two knock it off! We are literally five minutes from the site and you now choose to be annoying?” Jihoon huffs out, looking at the two of you from the rear-view mirror. You narrow your eyes at your brother before placing your hands in your lap; You look out the window and see that you are in fact pulling into the campground. It is filled with big and plentiful fir trees and sat at the edge of a lake full of glacier water from the mountains surrounding it. There was a lot of nice scenery around as you pulled up to the cabin you would be staying at. The four of you got out of the van and began to unload your things into the cabin.
It was nothing special; a larger living space connected to a small kitchen. The bathroom were to the left of the kitchen while the two bedrooms were to the right. The decor was quaint, flowery curtains and wooden panel walls were the main decorations along with the centerpiece which was the wood-burning fireplace in the living room.
“It isn’t half bad!” You gushed optimistically, dropping your bag by one of the sofas, “hate to say it, but you picked a nice one, Jihoonie!”
“You sound surprised” He scoffed with a smile, “I made sure it was nothing but the best for my favorite.” You opened your mouth to thank him for the heartfelt sentiment before your brother promptly wrapped his arms around Mashiho’s shoulders and squeezes the younger boy sweetly.
“Ew get a room, boyfriends!” Doyoung teased, scrunching his nose in fake disgust.
“Gladly,” Jihoon stated, dragging his things through one of the doors, “But me and Mashiho are taking the bigger room.”
“No way! The bigger room is mine and (Y/N)’s!” Doyoung shouted, darting into the room after Jihoon, leaving you and Mashiho in the living room. You chuckled at the two boy’s antics, before turning your attention to your crush. He seemed a bit different; he wasn’t as smiley as usual and he seemed to be avoiding any eye contact with you. He looked deep in thought, finding one spot on the floor particularly interesting.
“I’m really happy we are all out here having fun.” You mentioned, trying to lift the cute boy’s spirit, “I think it’ll be a nice break for all of us.” Mashiho looked at you, stirred from his thoughts and grins (not genuinely; more like the way you would do when thanking a stranger for holding the door for you) and answers flatly with one simple word.
“yep.” The shortness of his reply hurt and you wondered what had happened to make the Japanese boy upset.
Just then, Doyoung re-entered the living-room, hair all messed up and arms full with his things; a defeat in the battle for the big room.
“(Y/N), the bigger room is lame so I decided we should take the small one,” Doyoung stated,walking over to the other room to put his stuff in there. He then pops his head back out the door, “Oh and before you ask, this is PURELY a decision I made, not because your very strong, very persistent brother literally wrestled me off the bed for it.” You giggled at your silly friend, before simply dragging your bag into the smaller room. You turn and wave at Mashiho sweetly, hoping to maybe cheer him up, but to no avail; he gave you tiny nod before going into his and Jihoon’s room, closing the door behind him.
You flopped onto the bed with a huff, upset because Mashiho sudden change in mood. In all the years you’ve known him, you don’t think you could ever recall a time where he was not cheery or had a smile on his face. It felt almost unnatural to see him like this.
“what’s up? did I miss something or..?” Doyoung flopped down beside you, poking your cheek with his index finger.
“He’s usually so happy, but something seems to be bothering Mashiho...” You responded, face burying itself into the pillows of your bed. Doyoung leans over and pats your head sympathetically, “I just hope he’s feeling better soon because it makes me kinda sad too...”
“I’m sure he’ll be okay,” Doyoung reassured you, sitting up on the bed before pulling you so you do the same. You throw Doyoung a weak smile before he pushes your shoulder teasingly, “I mean, if he really is upset, I’m sure its nothing a little hiking and a campfire can’t fix!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Ugh whose idea was it to go hiking again?!” Doyoung groaned and star-fished in the dirt right in front of your cabin, “I feel like I’m going to throw up my whole insides...”
“It was actually your idea, knucklehead.” You chuckled breathlessly, kicking Doyoung’s outstretched arm, gently urging him to rest somewhere else, “But it was fun, right Mashiho?” Mashiho brushed his fluffy hair out of his eyes and forehead, before looking to you with a big smile; his eyes somehow seemed sad, but at least he was smiling again. Mashiho cutely placed his hands on his hips to catch his breath and you couldn’t help the burning of your cheeks from popping up.
“Yeah it was really nice to see nature so closely.” He replied before chuckling breathlessly, “But I can’t wait to sit down. My feet are killing me!”
“I just really have to pee.” Jihoon exclaimed, rushing into the cabin and shouting over his shoulder, “figure out what we’re going to do for supper!”
“How about a fire?” You suggested, looking at the sun receding over the horizon, “we could cook some meat and Jihoonie brought his guitar!”
“Sounds like a great idea,” Doyoung agreed before hitting your ankle from his spot on the ground, “Oh wait, its because I literally thought of it earlier! So your welcome for being a genius” You rolled you eyes at your friend, grabbing onto his closest wrist and yanking to pull him to his feet. Once up, Doyoung grabbed you other hand and pulled on it while simultaneously pushing his other arm out to stretch you (You wingspan is obviously less than Doyoung’s). You squeak out in pain, letting go of Doyoung’s wrist before hitting him on the chest to get him to let go.
This scene is being awkwardly watched by a certain someone, feeling all the things he did earlier; that certain someone simply smiled at the two of you and retreated into the cabin as the scene was almost to painful to watch. You follow, leaving Doyoung outside but not without sticking you tongue out at him before you closed the door on him; he opens it after you, going to the kitchen for a drink and leaving for your room, saying he needs some “technology time”. You then also made your way to the kitchen, taking out two water bottles; Bringing them over to the couch in the living room, you sit down beside your brother’s best friend, who seemed startled that you were there.
“Here.” You said, handing one of the bottles over to Mashiho, “you better stay hydrated, especially after walking so long.” Mashiho takes the water, thanking you quietly before taking a drink, not even sparing you a glace. Normally, you would be focused on how his lips pouted when he drinks or the way his adam’s apple bobs, but you were more concerned with how lifeless his eyes were, all glazed over and staring off into nothing.
“So...” you started, a bit awkward, “How are you doing..?” You knew something was wrong with him, but you couldn’t muster the courage to bring it up. Mashiho simply shrugged, putting the cap on his water bottle, and setting it on the table. He still wouldn’t meet your gaze, wondering if it was maybe something you had done to upset him..?
“I’m fine,” He replied simply, weakly smiling at you before looking away again, “Pretty tired so I think I’m going to take a nap.” Mashiho stands without another glace and walks to his a Jihoon’s room, closing the door behind his after he enters.
You then hear a flush and Jihoon exits the bathroom, wiping his hands on his pants to dry them.
“Where is shiho?” He asked, sitting down next to you and putting his feet up on the coffee table.
“Went to your guy’s room to nap.” You responded crestfallen, leaning back on the couch with a sigh, “He seems to be in a bad mood... do you know why?” Jihoon sat for a minute, thinking about his best friend.
“I don’t,” Jihoon stated, taking his feet off the table to lean forward and place his elbows on his knees, “Maybe he’s just having an off day. Have you asked him?”
“Not really. he said he was fine and then went to sleep; I think you should ask him instead of me.” You started to wonder, maybe he’s avoiding you on purpose? What if Mashiho doesn’t like you at all and you just keep picking at him and annoying him. The thought made your chest hurt, and tears were threatening to form.
“I’ll ask him about it.” Jihoon agreed, standing up marking the end to that conversation, “Well! I better get that fire going if we want to cook on it!” Your brother walks to the door, not without turning back to look at you one more time.
“Don’t worry about shiho too much (Y/N),” Jihoon said, reassuring smile across his face, “I’m sure he’ll be alright.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“This must be Crazyyyyyy Loooooove! This must be Crazyyyyyy Loooooove!” Jihoon belts out, completely lost in the song as you all sat around the fire. The strum of your brother’s guitar made a nice backdrop for the acoustic-version of one of your favorite songs and you couldn’t help but smile and sway from side to side with Doyoung.
As Jihoon finished the song with a few fast strums on the last cord, you clapped and cheered for him, making it seem like a mini concert.
“Thank you, thank you” Jinhoon bowed, setting his guitar down, “I’ll be here all week!”
“dang that’s too bad we have to listen to you all week.” Doyoung teased, earning a playful shove from your brother. You look to Mashiho, who seemed to be almost back to his usual self; He was beaming at you brother, bouncing his legs as he sat.
‘how cute’ you thought to yourself with a smirk, opting to focus on the fire before you got caught. Just then, Doyoung’s phone began to ring, and he excused himself from the fire pit.
“It’s a nice night huh?” Jihoon stated, looking up at the streaky, star-lit sky above. You took a deep breath and sighed, agreeing quickly with your brother.
“I think its really pretty.” Mashiho concluded, blinking up at the night sky, “but you know, the prettiest things are so untouchable, its almost like its not real...”
“What do you mean..?” You asked, looking at your crush, who tilts his head on your direction and gives you a lopsided grin that made butterflies flutter in your stomach.
“I just think that sometimes we find beauty in things so out of reach,” Mashiho explains, changing his focus to the fire, “Its kinda sad isn’t it? We love these things and are attracted to them, yet they are so far away and we can’t even meet...”
You and your brother fell silent, thinking about what the japanese boy’s words meant, if anything at all. All that was heard was the crackling of the fire before Mashiho shook his head.
“I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore.” He chuckled, drawing in the dirt with the fire stick, “forget it.”
“I think it was really poetic shiho,” Jihoon encouraged, patting the younger on the shoulder, “right (Y/N)?”
“I think so too.” You agreed, looking back up into the bright night sky, “Its so far from us its almost like a different universe...” Mashiho fought the urge to smile at both of your kind words, eyes not leaving the dirt as the three of you sat in a comfortable silence.
Said silence was soon broken as Doyoung came back, seemingly worried.
“Hey so I’ve got a problem...” He said, causing all of you to look at your best friend.
“Whats wrong?” you asked him as you stood up, worry evident in your tone.
“My parents just called and told me there was a family emergency,” Doyoung explained, seemingly calm for what he had just said, “so, I know it’s late and it sucks, but can you drive me home Jihoon?”
Jihoon quickly stood, agreeing right away. You follow the boys inside, where in about ten minutes, Doyoung is packed and ready to go.
“Is everything alright Do?” You asked, showing him to the van as Jihoon climbed into the driver seat. He pulled you into a tight hug, and you held the boy tightly.
“Don’t worry about it,” Doyoung explained, taking a deep breath and squeezing you tightly before letting you go and climbing into the van, “I’ll tell you what happened later.”
“(Y/N),” Jihoon called out and rolled down his window, “Stay here with shiho, I’ll be back in a bit!” You nodded and gave a weak smile to your best friend; you stood and watched until the van disappeared from your view. You rub your eyes before turning back to the fire where Mashiho sat intently, poking at the ground with the fire stick. You made your way over to him and sat down beside him, falling silent. It suddenly felt awkward, as there was a tension in the air from the events and the mood dropping.
“Are you okay? I’m sure you’re super worried about Doyoung...” Mashiho broke the silence, but not lifting his head to look at you. You noticed his sudden change in mood yet again, and it made you feel even more on edge.
“I’m okay,” You replied, staring off into space before responding with what you’ve been wanting to all day, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, why wouldn’t I be?”
“I don’t know. You just have seemed kinda off today so I’m just worried something’s wrong...”
“Nope, nothing’s wrong so don’t worry about me.” He spit out, almost annoyance present in his tone. His bad attitude made you feel something Mashiho had never made you feel before; anger
“Well obviously something is wrong, but-”
“(Y/N), I said I’m fine.”
“you don’t sound fine!”
“I don’t want to talk about it.” He huffed out, standing from his spot at the fire and going inside the cabin in a hurry. This made you even more upset, and being a stubborn, you follow after the boy, just wanting to get to the bottom of whatever was going on. When you got inside, he was in the kitchen grabbing another water bottle when you stood on the other side of the open fridge door.
“Why?” You asked, crossing your arms over you chest, “maybe I can help you.”
“You can’t help me,” He sighed, closing the door and making a b-line back out to the fire. He sat down and cracked open the water bottle, clearly trying to avoid this conversation, “Besides, its not important or any of your business.”
You followed him in, and you could tell by now Mashiho was getting annoyed with you by the way he rolled his eyes as you sat down beside him. Under normal circumstances you would have dropped it by now as to not upset the boy, but you were more fueled by irritation and curiosity than anything else now.
“Well obviously it’s something I did then,” You scoffed, looking away from the man in front of you, “or else you wouldn’t have been avoiding me all day and giving me the cold shoulder.”
“I wasn’t avoiding you, so just drop in (Y/N).” Mashiho said firmly, still not meeting your gaze as you stared at his side profile; Mashiho didn’t take his gaze off the fire, and his expression was morphing from one of discontent to one of anger.
“No.” You persisted, loosing all control of your actions due to all the emotions you were feeling. There was your crush for Mashiho piled with him being upset all day and bringing down your mood, and now with your being alone with him and Doyoung’s situation leaving you on high stress mode, you felt like your bottle that kept all those feelings just exploded.
“I can’t understand what’s so bad that you can’t tell me. We’ve been friends for how many years now? I mean, maybe not the BEST-EST of friends, but I still thought that you trusted me enough to tell me your feeling when you’ve been giving me the cold shoulder for the whole day.” You ranted, throwing your hands up in the air exasperatedly, “I guess it was just stupid of me to think that you would talk to me about things that are going on with you, cause y’know, that’s what friends DO!”
“Oh yeah?” Mashiho scoffed, turning around to face you. You could tell he was angry from the way his brows were furrowed and his tongue poked the side of his cheek. You had never seen him this upset before; Truthfully, the Japanese boy finally burst.
“That’s so funny you say that (Y/N)!” He spat, feeling all his suppressed emotions release, “Because I thought you would to maybe like to mention to me that you got a boyfriend before I have to watch the both of you flirt right in front of me!”
You take a second to process what Mashiho said before falling silent. Confusion didn’t even begin to describe what you were thinking at the moment, almost all of your anger seeping out to be replaced by this new feeling; but Mashiho must have mistaken your silence for guilt, so he rolled his eyes at you and chuckled dryly.
“You know, I really don’t get how you can talk all high and mighty about ‘friends tell each other things!’ when you didn’t even want to give me a heads up that you 1. have a boyfriend and 2. you’d be inviting said boyfriend on this trip!”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” you exclaimed, perplexness now evident in your expression.
“Uhm, hello?” The boy sing-songed in a teasing tone, annoyance still laced in his voice. “Your boyfriend? You know, the one who just had to leave for a family emergency?!”
“You mean Doyoung?”
“Obviously! Who else would I be talking about?!”
“Oh my god.” You scoffed as your jaw dropped, not believing what was happening before your very eyes, “You moron! Doyoung isn’t my boyfriend, stupid!”
“What?” Mashiho exclaimed, anger slowly turning into embarrassment, just as yours started picking back up.
“Doyoung is my best friend!” You explained, standing up and pacing to release your growing rage. You were so upset, you couldn’t help the next part from slipping out of your mouth before it’s too late.
“How can I date Doyoung when I’ve been in love with you for almost six years?! How can I date my best friend when I am constantly texting him about how you eat so cutely or that you smiled at me when you came through the front door? How can I date him when I can’t stop thinking about dating you!?”
You take a breath before the reality of what you said sank in. You clasp your hand over your mouth and feel your cheeks burn. You turned away from the boy and sit down a couple of feet away in the dirt, far too embarrassed about your accidental confession to look at him in that moment. All the bad feelings you had built up drained away only to be replaced by dread of what Mashiho would say to you. The air is silent, and you felt like you wanted to shrivel up and die. Just as you were about to ask Mashiho to forget everything as you scurried off to the cabin, the Japanese boy spoke.
“So, it means you like me too?” He asked softly. You could hear by the tone of his voice that he was grinning. You looked up to see Mashiho kneeling in front of you eyes filled with stars and ears burning red from shyness. He scoffed playfully and sat down across from you, crossing his legs. You though he looked so pretty like this, hair falling into his eyes and glowing in the dim light. You smiled at him, feeling your heart swell as he took your hands in his, feeling the warmth of his grasp spread to your body.
“I love you, and I have for so long now.” Mashiho said and tilted his head to to the side like a lovesick puppy, “And if you want to, I’d really like to take you on a date..?”
“I’d love nothing more.” You agreed, feeling happier than you though possible. You swore you could die right there and be content in the afterlife. You stood up and lead Mashiho back to the fire before sitting right beside him. He didn’t let go of your hands the whole time, only holding them tighter as he shuffled closer to you. You laughed breathlessly, gaining the attention of the Japanese boy.
“And next time, just ask if I have a boyfriend instead of avoiding me and being jealous.” You joked, nudging the boy with your shoulder. He giggled sheepishly, biting the corner of his bottom lip.
“I’m sorry,” He apologized before nudging you back teasingly, “but I wont have to ever ask you again if you have a boyfriend because it’ll be me that’s the boyfriend!” Laughing at how adorable Mashiho was being, you subconsciously leaned closer into him. Before you could think, you placed a quick kiss on his lips, which was well received.
Mashiho, although he was taken by surprise, was glad to receive that kiss. when you broke away, Mashiho paused a moment before chasing your lips. He released one of your hands, opting to hold the side of your face as he kissed you again, this time letting it last longer. You melted to his touch, feeling your body relax against him as you leaned into the kiss. At that moment, you felt that nothing in the whole universe could be better than kissing Mashiho.
And although it went unnoticed (as you were a bit preoccupied), you received a text from a certain friend of yours;
Dokki~: I hope that you are taking this very limited opportunity to make your move or else I would have lied about a family emergency for nothing :P
-------Epilogue-------
Doyoung clicked his phone off, smirking smugly at his plan to get you to finally confess. He turned to Jihoon, who looked focused on the road. He seemed somewhat relaxed, almost as if he knew what was going on.
“Hey Jihoon, can you pull into that parking lot?” Doyoung asked, pointing ahead to a small-town corner store, earning a strange look from Jihoon who agreed and began to slow the van. He parked and shifted to look at Doyoung, who smiled at your older brother.
“Lets get ice cream.” Doyoung stated and popped off his seat belt nonchalantly, “I’ll buy.” The boys got out, and entered the store. Jihoon looked at Doyoung like he was crazy, but went along with the younger boys plans anyways.
“I have to tell you something.” Doyoung explained, leaning against the hood of the van and picking at his ice cream with a spoon. He looked out to the highway, letting the cold soak into his bones.
“There is no emergency huh?” Jihoon deduced, smiling at his feet before taking a spoonful of mint chocolate ice cream and scooping it into his mouth. The younger boy chuckled, taking the final bite of his own ice cream.
“Sorry to lead you all the way out here,” Doyoung apologized, standing up to stand next to the older boy, “I just.... You sister needed a push and I thought this would be it.”
“She likes shiho.” Jihoon revealed and sighed, taking a deep breath of the night air. Doyoung was taken aback by your brother’s knowledge of the subject, but stayed silent. This was words enough for Jihoon, who nodded his head knowingly.
“You know, all I can say,” Jihoon started, before walking back to the driver side of the van. Doyoung watched as Jihoon leaned on the open door and grinned in a teasing way.
“She better not break my shiho’s heart or else I’m disowning her.”
Doyoung chuckled and headed to his side of the van, before sitting in it.
“I guess we should get back to them then?” Doyoung asked, feeling relieved that Jihoon wasn’t mad.
“I think we should give them a bit more time,” Jihoon turned to the boy beside him and buckled up his seat-belt, “I saw a sign for a cool viewpoint spot twenty miles form here. Should we take a look?”
“Lets go then.” Doyoung agreed, “My ‘family emergency’ can wait.”
