being a leader came with responsibilities that kept asahi away for much longer than when he was just making music for the group. it was hard for them to adjust to his new role and how much pressure rested on his shoulders, but asahi’s career meant everything to him. y/n understood and suffered silently as their boyfriend practically moved into the yg building.

they had spoken with junkyu’s partner who felt the same way and decided on spending time with him at the company instead of sulking at home alone. even though junkyu didn’t pay much attention to them, being with him healed them a little.

so, y/n took their advice and decided to surprise asahi.

they glanced down at the red string threaded around their pinky before looking up at the sign that indicated where asahi is currently residing. y/n took a deep breath, pressed the numbers and opened his now unlocked door.

there he was.

their asahi.

his back was facing them, headphones on and head swaying slightly as he tapped his fingers against the desk. the small bin he kept under it was almost full, empty containers and plastic from the convenience store yg has.

“good thing i brought dinner. he probably hasn’t eaten a proper meal in a while”

they pushed his door closed and walked towards him slowly, making sure not to startle him.

they watched his fingers twitch against the desk as he whipped around, feeling a presence behind him. his eyes widened at the sight of them standing there, he quickly took off his headphones and stood up making y/n smile softly. asahi carefully reached out to intertwine their hands before giving them a small squeeze, proving to him that he isn’t imagining things.

“you’re here”

everything about him was gentle. from the way he spoke, to the way he looked at them, even the way he touched them. asahi saw them as something delicate, fragile even, like a piece of stained glass: "something so beautiful that he could only see admire from the distance. afraid of leaving fingerprints on such a heavenly masterpiece".

he's always had such a way with words.

“junkyu’s partner gave me the idea. i brought food too”

“thank you”

it went quiet after that, but neither minded. asahi threw on one of the many playlists he’s made for them before helping set up despite their protests. he’s always been a man who showed his love through actions when the right words escaped him or he believed were simply not enough. it shows in the way he remembers every tiny detail that they never thought was important nor necessary to remember, it shows on stage with certain yet subtle gestures that only they could understand, it shows in the way he looks for them in everything no matter where he goes, it show in the way he looks at them as if they’re the sun to his earth — the only thing that keeps him growing and flowing against the darkness that threatens to push through.

it was mostly silent between the couple as they ate, sometimes asahi would let out a sigh when he bit into one of their dishes ( oh how he missed having a home cooked meal ) or y/n would ask a question about his producing and if anything has changed in their schedule ( she just likes hearing him talk ).

“wanna listen to what i’m working on?” he asked timidly, cheeks heating up slightly at seeing y/n’s wide eyes

asahi had asked them once before. back then they denied, willingly to wait until it was set to be released.

“are you sure?” asahi nodded and took their free hand, making y/n place the empty container back down

he sat them in his chair before gently placing the headphones over their ears. they watched their boyfriend click away different files until one was left, which he pushed play on.

it started off slow, then his voice broke through. y/n felt their head sway to the beat as he sung with passion and the type of sadness that had fans clutching their hearts in pain as tears streamed down their face. hearing him sing in his native language as always gripped y/n more than him singing in korean. the lyrics were full of nothing, but love yet detailed the struggles he’s faced ( not that fans would know ) while being in a relationship with y/n.

they hadn’t even realised that they were crying until asahi gently dabbed their cheek with the sleeve of his cardigan. y/n turned towards him, headphones still on as the song continued to play while he brushed away their tears.

“asahi”

he knew they wouldn’t be able to hear him if he spoke due to the volume, so he only tilted his head, one hand still resting on their cheek.

“kiss me”

his lips parted in shock as their words, but asahi found himself leaning in. they’ve only been together for a few months and their physical affection towards each other still barely exists.

but, how could he reject them? especially when they’re looking at him like it was more of a need than a simple request.

asahi brought up his other hand and gently held their face as they both leaned forward. it felt like minutes had gone by until their lips touched, but when they did?

it was something unexplainable.

y/n has always been nervous about kissing someone, afraid of it being awkward or accidentally knocking into their teeth or head. it was a fear they’ve held that only increased when dating asshi, but of course, everything was easy with him.

it wasn’t like a firework had gone off, but more like the once raging ocean waves that crashed against each other had now calmed down and rippled softly.

asahi moved away first.

he didn’t want to.

oh, he wanted to stay with his lips pressed against their’s for as long as he could, but he needed to breathe.

y/n opened their eyes and stared at their boyfriend who smiled. his hands moved away from their face to take off their headphones, but y/n still continued to gaze at him in silence before he cleared his throat.

“so… you like the song?”

“i love you”

both their eyes widened at y/n’s words. they gripped the armrest, ready to run when asahi let out a small chuckle before reaching for their hands.

“i love you too” he said before giving them a gentle squeeze

“i really liked the song”

“i wrote it for you”

“thank you?”

he just smiled at them before leaning in once more.

Hyunsuk: Stops dead in his tracks when he sees you wearing his favorite hoodie. His heart almost explodes by how cute you look in his favorite piece of clothing. He isn’t quite sure how you got it, or when you found it but it doesn’t matter at all to him. He’s just so happy that you’re wearing his clothes, he’s such a happy bf. He can’t stop his heart from melting seeing you in his clothes.

Jihoon: Honestly, by how adorable you look in his hoodie, you might as well take the whole closet. He can’t say anything, he just has sneak up on you and give you a big BIG hug. His favorite thing about you wearing his hoodie, is how much it smells like you once you give it back to him. He teases you about “stealing” all of his sweatshirts but we all know he’s leaving them out in hopes that you take them LOL.

Yoshi: He gets so flustered and it’s so cute omg 😫. All he can do is smile from ear-to-ear at you because he knows if he says anything it’s going to come out all cracked and pitchy. That’s how good you look in his hoodies. You literally take his breath away. Everytime you come over he’s always reminding you to take one of his hoodies, shirts literally anything. It makes his day just seeing how beautiful you look in HIS clothes 😭

Junkyu: He tries to act mad at you for stealing his hoodie, but on the inside his heart is meltingggg. He is so happy to see you clinging onto his hoodie while you wear it, it’s the cutest thing ever. All he can do is sit and watch you, It doesn’t no matter what you’re doing. He is totally in awe just from the fact that you’re wearing HIS hoodie. Don’t be mad when you find a whole pile of his hoodies that he left at your place for you to wear.

Jaehyuk: It’s a cuteness overload for him. He can barely think; nor breath when he sees how big his hoodie looks on you, or how adorable you look. “Where’d you get that” “In your closet, do you like it Jaehyukie?” He almost passed out right then and there, you’re wearing his hoodie AND calling him pet names, okay you’re getting too bold now LOL, he makes sure to hold you extra extra tight, he’s just so fluffy and sweet for the rest of the day.

Asahi: He’s probably the most level-headed member when he sees you all snuggled up in his hoodie; he can’t help but just come over and plant sweet little kisses all over your face. It makes him so happy, he just feels so special knowing that you’re wearing HIS hoodie, out of everyone else, him. Little moments like these is where he is extra grateful to be your boyfriend. He makes sure you know that too. You’ll have a collection of his clothes in no time LOL

Doyoung: He gets clingy so quick when he sees you wearing ANY type of clothing that’s his, especially his hoodies. He just gets so boyfriend-y if that makes sense. Cuddling you so soft, asking you if your hungry, taking millions of pictures to capture the moment, it’s just so sweet. He makes sure to take a polaroid of you in his hoodie, so when he misses you he can just look at that photo and feel better. (btws he probs takes that photo with him everywhere, it’s like his good-luck charm, he can’t go without it)

Haruto: Ohhh boy, his ego skyrockets when he sees you wearing his hoodie. It’s more of a possessive thing for him, not in a toxic way, but when he sees you in his clothes; it’s a way of showing everyone that you’re his partner and no one else’s. He makes sure to stay close to you the whole time, not even caring if he’s embarrassing himself by the immediate PDA around everyone else. He always gives you extra kisses when you’re wearing his hoodies.

Jeongwoo: He becomes a simp so quick; like he’s literally willing to do anything if you ask him to. He makes sure to put cologne on all of his hoodies just in case you ask for another one of them, just so they can smell like him when you wear them. Will randomly just give you a hoodie, and when you ask him why he’ll reply back, “Keep it, it looks better on you” AHHHH. Also somehow, cuddles just always hit different to him when you’re wearing his hoodies, like you just get so soft.

Junghwan: A deep shade of red appears all over his face, he can’t express his joy in any other way then the cutest little giggle ever. He can’t help himself but to just run over to you, pick you up and spin you around in his arms, followed by a sickening amount of kisses. He gets so so happy seeing you in his hoodie. There’s this soft spot that he has for you, and every time you wear his hoodie that spot for you gets bigger and bigger. It’s so sweet :(

Next recapping project:  YG Treasure Box

Welcome back!  While we wait for the second season of Boys Planet later this year, let’s revisit the 10-member boy band Treasure.  I recapped Shining Solo last year, and after posting it on Tumblr, I got some great feedback from the group’s fans. 

For example, I thought it was confusing that both Jihoon and Hyun Suk said they were leaders, but it turns out they were both right.  The group has two leaders at a time, which makes sense in a group that large, and now in 2025, Junkyu and Asahi are the leaders.

Tumblr user aplateoflasagna had interesting background info:

I think i can explain the difference in both groups’ interactions with the girls. When Treasure heard that they would be filming a dating show, Jihoon was very much against it because he knew fans would hate it (and he was right, Korean and Chinese fans hated the show before the first episode even aired and some left the fandom). Their company went through with it anyway. (No judgment, jealous fans shouldn't get to dictate idols’ lives.)

I bet Group 1 was heavily influenced by Jihoon's opposition to the show + they didn't want to do anything to upset the fans, so they kept their distance because being too forward can lose you fans (+ how awkward to be on a dating show you do not want to be on, being filmed by 10 cameras at once :/ ) In the behind-the-scenes episodes though (10 short eps, 1 for each member) the mood is much more relaxed/more fun.

Also they were indeed instructed not to talk about themselves or ask about the girls before the official introductions. That's why Group 1 talked about the weather and plants LMAO. Thankfully Group 2 didn't follow the rules of the production team.

That explains a LOT.  And this is why I will be posting mostly on Tumblr.  I get great feedback and behind-the-scenes information from the fans.  And thanks to their comments, I want to go back and watch Treasure’s origin story, YG Treasure Box.

We’ll be watching 10 episodes that aired from November 2018 to January 2019 on South Korean’s Joongang Tongyang Broadcasting Company, or JTBC.  We’re starting with 29 trainees, and it will be quite interesting to see who emerges from the show victorious, as I already know that one member, Bang Yedam, wound up leaving the group.  Also, the web site Kpop Wiki has a section about this show called “Aftermath,” so I’m anticipating total chaos.

I’m looking forward to watching this and hopefully getting more behind the scenes details from Tumblr readers.  I’m also curious about what YG Entertainment is going to put these trainees through.  They seem like a particularly cruel company, considering they were willing to shove the resulting band into Shining Solo, so I won’t be surprised if YG Treasure Box makes one of the missions a competitive chain-smoking contest and then has the contestants insult the fans right to their faces.  Like I’ve said many times in these recaps, trainees will do whatever it takes to debut.

Onward, Teume!  Let’s do this.
