In the dead of winter trees promise us that spring is coming.
Trees are stupid cool. Like I could go on and on about how they are these radical creature that live among us and live for so long yet seem so easy to not appreciate. They help each other grow and know when they need to conserve energy. Like they literally make us happier and heal faster. As I get older I find a lot of my personal philosophies are tied to trees and what we can learn from them.
I read a quote somewhere a few years ago that said “make like a tree and grow roots” and I thought that was so beautiful. To engage in a community that you wanted to be in, to have the steadiness and security of your environment that you nourish and in return nourishes you.
Another thing I say a lot is “even the trees rest in the winter” to me this means we don’t always have to be working on ourselves. That growth isn’t constant. That rest is necessary for life.
if you’re sad, go hangout with a tree and maybe it’ll give you hope that spring is near, and that rest is needed to create new growth.
