Here's why this video makes me tear up.

Laganja Estranja first competed on RuPaul's Drag Race in Season 6 in 2014, which incidentally was a terrific season. Bianca Del Rio, Adore Delano, Courtney Act, Darienne Lake, Gia Gunn…huge personalities, some of whom (Gia, Bianca, Darienne) were not afraid to say incredibly mean things on camera. Watching it now, it's a lot of fun to see people like Bianca and Courtney already in their final form and also like Ben Delacreme and Trinity K. Bonet, who would absolutely flower on later All-Stars seasons.

But about Laganja. Her entrance was legendary:

Everybody on the show got pretty sick of her and the way she talked, all "YES, gawd" and "MAW-ma" and especially "Okurrrrrr!" She was basically the star of Untucked until she got sent home, so there are a LOT of clips of her crying. And pretty much immediately everyone on the franchise added "Okurrrrrr!" to their vocabulary because it's a lot of fun to say. Laganja was not fully baked for Season 6, and I think she'd agree with that.

This video is from All-Stars 6 in 2020. Trinity K. Bonet (from Season 6! I just mentioned her!) has won the challenge, because she too has come a long way since her first season. She's not worried about the lip-sync assassin.

Then Laganja drops from the fucking ceiling, brings back her iconic entry phrase ("Oh, y'all wanted a twist, eh? Come on All-Stars 6, let's get sickening!"), ends it with a triumphant "OKURRRRRR!" and everyone loses their shit.

She's so confident, so herself, and also she's smoked some pot recently so she's not freaking out like she was constantly on S6.

The lip-sync starts out pretty evenly matched, in my opinion. But Laganja keeps accelerating. By the last third, Trinity is out of moves and is just clapping, while Laganja breaks out stunt after stunt after stunt. It's great.

In Untucked, Laganja says, "I want to walk away from today being like, ‘Okay, that’s what it’s supposed to feel like. It was so good to be back.’". I hope she achieved that. Because it was great to see her.

I’m not one for getting angry at twists in a competition that stop competitors moving forward, but when Trinity talked about being in the Top 4 only to have it snatched away, my heart broke for her.

She shouldn’t have gone home & I hope she knows how proud the fans are of her.

“We did the VMAs with her, she put us up in hotels, free food, liquor in the room, the whole nine yards. It was such a layout, and were were there for like four days, so it was amazing. We do the show, she wins video of the year and then we go backstage and she was like, ‘No, no - you guys, everybody is gonna get an award too.’ So I start crying dramatically cause I’m like, ‘Wow!’ Apparently she told them that she would not do the show at all unless we all got awards if she won. So she made it possible that we get the awards. She was like, ‘This is bigger than me, this is about you guys - the video and the song were about you guys, a representation of you so you guys deserve the award.’ And I have to give a shout out to Todrick of course who got me the gig, he was the one who recommended me to do the part. It was an amazing project to be a part of, it was fun to always be around my sisters and to play Cardi B. Also, at the VMAs we were walking backstage and Cardi was coming out and Taylor made everybody stop, and she was like you have to meet Cardi B. She made it possible for me to meet Cardi B, and I gave her a hug and we took pictures together. So yeah, she is... you know, being celebrity in the industry, a D-list celebrity myself, I know what it is for people to think so much about you that isn’t necessarily true, and I can say for Taylor Swift - people have no clue about who she is as an individual and a person and how personable she is, how sweet she is, how comfortable she is around people. On the set she was backstage with us the whole time, she didn’t wanna go to her trailer, she was drinking with us - like we’re drinking champagne and it’s 10 in the morning, it was amazing. We went to the after party with her, she made sure that we got into after party, like she’s is just... I’ve met a lot of people and she is probably the most down to earth person I have ever met.”
