I really liked the way they wrote Tripp Hauser too. He could’ve been a cartoon villain, but he really wasn’t.

The little things he did - not bothering to remember people’s names because they don’t matter to him, gaslighting Max Carver about the risk level of the storm, his absolute lack of worry about his own fiancé’s wellbeing when she’s trapped in space and might die, in fact everything about his relationship with Tricia - those things all spoke so loudly to how real billionaire villains behave.

They’re not cartoon evil, they’re arrogant and charming and manipulative and people misread them and think they must be geniuses when they’re really just lucky and/or willing to step over anyone and everyone to win. I feel like they showed that so, so well. While having the guy eaten by a whale. Honestly, your show could never.
