OMG! I can’t lie… I loved it!
I know it was mostly space stuff and Athena present vs past, but I cried for almost a full 40 minutes so yes, it was so good!
Some of my thoughts in no specific order:
Athena saying that boarding the ISS is like boarding a sinking ship? That was a hilarious call-back to the cruise disaster.
I love that the Athena flashback is in this episode. This means we get two more normal episodes before the hiatus. YAY!
Loved those flashbacks though. Athena keeps losing people she loves! This was actually a normal case where Athena wasn’t the ‘grand saviour’. It was regular police business where she got hurt and lost her partner. It’s nice to get an episode with normal cop Athena and not the Athena who breaks every single law without any consequences.
Also… MICHAEL!!!!! It’s odd seeing him flirt with Athena, knowing he’s gay. But he really repressed that part of himself. He reminds me of someone else on the the 118. 😉
That crossroad where the driver was shot… Was this the crossroads where Eddie was shot? This was such a major parallel to that!
All the parallels in this episode were incredible! Last week we got all of Buddie’s greatest hits NDEs and this week we got more??? Oh yeah, I feel very good about this!!!
I love the Inara crew so much. Parker and Tricia getting together?! YES! That was such a nice thing. She deserved better than that Macroprick Tripp Hauser. I loved how she seized control of his company!!!!
Athena untethering and floating in space with flashbacks to her younger self??? I mean, this was almost beat for feat a recreation of Eddie’s NDE in the well. Another notch in the Buddie NDEs greatest hits column.
But it was such a great scene! I cried so hard when both Athenas were talking and the older one found joy again. And the music when she untethered! AAAAH!

LEWIS KERN! You better survive this! And he did!!! YAY! I predicted Lewis sacrificing himself last week. I just knew he’d get his moment to shine.

The Eddie and Buck NDE parallels are absolutely insane!!!! Love that for us! I cannot wait for the rest of the season! 🤗
I haven’t seen the preview for episode 5 yet. I’ll look for it later. I just needed to scream about this episode first!!!!
