“Troilus, who loved his horses”
Delighting in horses!
(What a happy youth with his ponies…sure hope nothing bad happens to him)
While I understand this is not the case, a part of me likes to believe that Apollo, Hector and Paris going to that level of targeting Achilles was at least in part cause of what happened to Troilos. Like, that was their son/younger brother. I'm just saying that Hector killing Patroclus because he thought it was Achilles is perfectly justified in this set of circumstances.
Son of Apollo makes a fatal mistake.
Also was reading “In search of Anatolian Apollo” which talks about Apaliunas’ role as the “hunter” (one who ensnares), which is interesting because Cassandra is the one who designates Troilus as the “ensnarer” because in a way he “caught” Achilles and was a stumbling block to his doom—an interesting reversal of his usual passive “prey” role in the story. Also this footnote from it caught my eye:
troilus falling for a very shall we call it, a phantom of the opera situation
Patrochilles x Troilus
A goofy scenario I’ve had in my head where instead of getting Super Murdered Troilus just gets kidnapped and this causes lots of problems and annoyances for everyone. Take notes folks, remember to do ur research and consult ur partner before impulsively attempting to add a new member to ur shared harem…
More Troilus…
Dreams of my father, the Hunter (Troilus and Āppaliunāš/Apollo)
I know there’s interesting discussion on whether or not Troilus is originally son of Apollo or not, but one of my sort of thoughts for my headcanon world is like…what if its a Schrödinger’s situation where whatever the truth is, that’s what he believes to be true, maybe in a childish fantasy way, up til the very end. Anyways I drew a more Hittite inspired figure, I think its neat how Āppaliunāš is known more for hunting being “one of Entrapment” while Cassandra in Lycophron’s Alexandra also curiously characterizes Troilus as the one who “smites” and “seizes” Achilles in an “inescapable noose” of doom. Just a thought. But here he is not thinking of that. He’s imagining having a nice warm hug
Achilles x Troilus original flavor (overthinking and thinking about visual inspirations below the cut)
