Here's a handful of meme doodles I forgot I did a couple days ago

What about the trouble trio handle their child through the stages of life? Like newborn, baby, toddler and kid? How would they handle the responsibilities of each stage and how would they connect (or try to) with their kid or kids?

Phinks

Phinks would’ve read a lot about it during your pregnancy but would soon find out it’s impossible to be fully prepared for a baby. It would take him a while to hold the child during the first days because… Well… They are so small. Look at them! It is as if he’ll break them if he isn’t careful!

Once he learns that babies are delicate but not made of glass, Phinks would be a dedicated parent, albeit a little… Overprotective, often checking on the baby while they are sleeping to make sure they are breathing and the such. Part of it likely comes from the fact that Meteor City is not exactly a place known for a healthy populace and happy childhoods…

While Phinks is loyal to the Spider above all, he would avoid the missions that can be avoided in order to spend time with you and the baby (he wants so much to enjoy those moments and has no intention of missing the baby’s first steps/words). Due to his criminal life, it’s not easy to tell whether he would insist on taking you along to whatever city Chrollo needs the Troupe to be or leave you at home at Meteor City. It depends on what would seem safer.

Note that in front of others, Phinks wouldn’t act that different from how he always is. It would be clear he likes his child, yes, but he wouldn’t come across as the most affectionate parent... Only in the privacy of your home is that he would show another side of his, being more caring and even playful in his own way.

That’s not to say Phinks would always know how to deal with a child. At first, he would feel silly for trying to play with them, be it with toys or plush animals or whatever… It’s just notpart of his nature. Reading stories, cradling them, and so on, it’s one thing. This is another. Maybe after a while, Phinks would get a little more used to it, maybe seeing his child happy (or simply wanting to spend time with them) would eventually help, but it wouldn’t be easy. Regardless, Phinks would be secretly hoping for the day the children would be old enough to play games…

Phinks wouldn’t ignore his responsibilities as a parent, be it in matters of protecting or teaching… But, well, with him being a criminal, you might need to discuss what he should teach the child or not… Otherwise, you might end up with Phinks lecturing your child not because they stole candy from the store but because they should’ve stolen a toy!

It sounds funny, but it really isn’t.

Speaking of which, at times, Phinks would be a stern father. Not in the sense of “I Know What Is Better for You” or “You’re My Child and Should Do As I Say”, nor would it be to the point of making his children fear him… It’s more in the “It’s a Dog Eat Dog World and I Want You To Survive” sense. I can’t say it would be pleasant and the lessons might not be the best, but… Well, he’s a criminal. You knew what you were signing up to when you got together with him.

That’s not to say there wouldn’t be arguments between them, or that everything would always be flowers and smiles. That’s simply not how parenthood is. There would be times when things would get complicated and there would be times when Phinks might get too protective or too stern… Especially if his children didn’t want anything to do with the Phantom Troupe.

Shalnark.

No one, absolutely no one, would be able to tell Shalnark is a vicious, remorseless killer when he’s with you buying stuff for the baby. Seriously, he is just so happy and excited that it’s… Well, it’s pretty cute. Of course, Shalnark sometimes gets worried (like anyone expecting the first child), but he doesn’t show this in public. And in fact, after the baby is born, Shal seems the embodiment of a “young, fun, and loving dad”, be at home or when you’re all going out.

To his credit, that is pretty much how Shal is as a dad and this isn’t just for the first weeks (the “excitement of the child being born”). He would be the sort of dad that has photos of them on his phone and yes, videos, too.

He absolutely loves to spend time with his family, loves playing with the baby, embracing those moments (even the less-than-pleasant ones, such as waking up at ungodly hours of the night because the baby is crying). This might be, in part, because Shalnark wouldn’t exactly “take time off” from working with the Phantom Troupe unless Chrollo himself told him his presence is not necessary for whatever they are doing at the moment. If they were planning something like what they did in Yorknew City, he wouldn’t back off.

Shalnark would actually do his best to balance his life with the family with his life as a member of the Phantom Troupe, so when he’s at home, he would be completely dedicated to you and the baby (regardless if he insists that you two should, at least, come with him to whatever city the next job is happening or that you stay in the Meteor City).

As the child grows a little older, Shalnark would contain his displays of affection a little if he realizes his kid doesn’t like it (no problem, he knows how some kids may find this embarrassing), but he would still do his best to be a part of their lives, wanting to know what they like to do and taking interest in their hobbies. Perhaps, if the kid is a little introverted, shy, or simply approaching puberty (and starting to become a little closed off), Shal could feel a little insecure or nervous, so you might run some interference before he crosses the line from “interested dad” into “noisy dad”.

Now, while he does want to be friends with his children, that doesn’t mean he would be that irresponsible father that leaves the responsibilities and actual parenting to the mother. The problem with this is that Shalnark’s morals are… Well, twisted.

Yeah, Shalnark has some good points as a dad, but he also has bad ones. And his bad ones are not the normal ones.

Because Shalnark’s life is so related to the Spider, he will want to raise his child as a future member. It can get to the point when his teachings can appear a little as… Not brainwashing, but programming, almost. And this can cause conflict, be it between the two of you or him and the child if they don’t want anything to do with the Troupe (something Shalnark would not understand and perhaps have a hard time accepting). Also, this would interfere with what Shalnark believes to be the right way to raise the kid.

If he does decide to take you two along when he needs to do something with the Phantom Troupe, he can come back with some… Uh… “Gifts” for you and the baby. Some parents who have criminal lives do try to protect their children from it (drug or gun dealers will do their best so their children will never ever see such “products”, for example), Shalnark isn’t quite this sort of parent. If you allow it, he’s actually perfectly okay with showing his child some enemy he’s controlling to kill their own friends. Yeah, don’t expect him to teach his child empathy, to care for the well-being of others, or anything of this sort…

Feitan.

Feitan is among those characters who you might not be able to imagine as a dad. Or the idea is, well, a little frightening. This can easily carry on to those who cross paths with Feitan when you two are at the doctor or buying stuff for the baby (most employees just try asking if you’re siblings or friends, then having to focus to keep smiling when he -dryly- replies he’s the baby’s father, thank you very much). It makes some people think he won’t be exactly the best dad around once the baby is born… Well, they aren’t exactly wrong, but that doesn’t mean Feitan will be abusive.

He is protective of the child, but in a different way than Phinks (especially since he’s subtler than him). It’s on the way he holds the baby, the way he cradles them, the times you catch him in the baby’s room, watching them sleep… Well, and also in how sharp his eyes become whenever you’re all out. People around might think this is just the way Feitan’s eyes are. You? You know he’s being attentive to any form of threat that may approach (considering how many people want him and the rest of the Spider dead, perhaps you can’t blame him).

In the end, those are his ways to express affection, to let his child know he loves them. He wouldn’t say it but you would see he at times gets a little unsure of how to deal with the baby, how to bond with them. We saw that he can sort of joke around with Shal and Phinks, but that doesn’t mean he knows exactly how to make a baby laugh (though you might catch him tickling them with a soft smile on his face).

This carries on a little as the child grows up. Like Phinks, he’ll be relieved when he can finally play board games and stuff with the child in order to bond. What? He doesn’t know how to play with action figures or plushes or whatever small kids like… Except when they start liking foam guns or swords (or more likely, when they’re old enough for him to give them those). Even from this early age, you’ll see he’s thinking about teaching them how to fight, but thankfully, he’ll be less strict than someone such as Illumi, to the point it’s not impossible he’ll relax and end up just having fun.

Feitan would value discipline but would learn how to balance it with love. He knows that respect born from fear is no real respect and he certainly doesn’t want his child to fear him (just like he doesn’t want you to fear him).

Now, the reason why things might be… Complicated, it’s that Feitan is, and will always be, a sadistic murderer. As soon as the child reaches a certain age, Feitan will not shield them from the life he leads, let alone the violence involved. He’s the sort of father who considers a good “bonding time” when he has a victim tied down and is teaching his freaking eleven-year-old how to properly carve their eyes out! So, if you expect your child to become someone who cares about others, you may want to interfere…

Speaking of which, the others may have problems with a child that doesn’t want to continue the “legacy of the Spider”, others may be disappointed but will remember their children are their own person, with their own dreams and they have to respect that… With Feitan? While he’s aware that he can’t just demand his children to follow in his footsteps, it doesn’t mean their refusal to do so won’t result in some arguments, especially depending on their own reasons to do so (especially if they are simply, oh, I don’t know, against hurting others?).

Thanks for the ask, it made me laugh just picturing them!

Phinks:

Very ticklish, especially around the waist.

It’s a bit dangerous because he’d have a hard time controlling his movements but it’s totally worth it.

He’s adorable when he giggles.

Once you’ve discover his weak spot, Phinks would be on his toes around you, always scared that you were going for it.

It’s be pretty fun to act all natural and play innocent just to watch him jump in anticipation.

But it means you’d need to ambush him to really get him.

Like when you cuddle for example.

At first he would try to not move so he wouldn’t hurt you by accident, just yelling at you between fits of giggles, trying to use his big voice to make you stop.

Not very convincing with tears rolling down his cheeks.

But then he’d retaliate and... yeah he’d get the appeal of tickling.

Barely catching your breath and laughing while pleading for a break under him would be the cutest scene.

he might become a tickle monster after that.

Feitan:

Not ticklish at all but loves to see you try and pout when you’ve fail.

Feitan would show you the most sensitive spots of the human body to encourage you.

But so you know, every attempt would be met with a counter attack.

And it will always end up as you being the one laughing in tears and begging him to stop.

He kinda likes this game.

However, it’s Feitan we’re talking about so he will absolutely use the tickle in bed.

When you’re all tied up that’s the moment he’d show you his new accessories.

Feathers and soft fur would be his new toys for hours of fun!

He’d usually be pretty straight face during your playtime but he wouldn’t be immune to your contagious laughter.

Shalnark:

Not ticklish either.

Still he would act like he was just for fun, he just loves goofy moments with you.

Shalnark can fake laughter very well but honestly he would genuinely find your air of triumph – as you believe he’s at your mercy – hilarious so it would come naturally.

When you’re playing video games against each other and he’s stomping you it’d be too tempting to not try to distract him.

He’d play along and let you do it, scolding you for being a sore loser.

But he’d do exactly the same when you’re the one winning.

The game would soon be forgotten and the tickle battle would turn into a heavy make out session.

Hisoka

-His crush is most likely strong or soon-to-be strong (as that is usually the reason his attention is grabbed)

-At first, he would always bug them, wanting to fight to the death or some shit

-Then once they get hurt somehow, he is just like “why do I not want them to die?”

-After that, he would hang around them. Certain things would turn him on more the usual and as such he would probably try to initiate the do

-If after a few months and they still show no interest he would either become uninterested or more obsessive

Illumi

-All he knows is that he wants his crush for himself so he would try to control every aspect of their life

-This includes determining which friends they can have (and if they don’t listen he will just kill the friends), being around them constantly and determining their dieting choices, and picking what clothes they can keep (especially if his crush tends to show some skin, ye know?)

-If worse comes to worse, he will just kidnap them and force them to be in a relationship with him via torture and annoying mama dearest

Chrollo

-Even if he has a crush on someone he will still act the same

-This entails philosophical discussions, discussing any valuables that are up for auction soon, talking about a certain book, and much more!

-In all seriousness though, unless he has a mission in mind for the spiders he is pretty drab. Even with his crush.

-After a while of knowing his crush, he would behave in a more gentle or kind manner (but not much different)

Phinks

-He is so easily flustered, if his crush even accidentally made physical contact with him he would be a blushing mess

-Phinks tries to be more gentle with them (instinctually)

-He isn’t really sure about his own feelings, but after Feitan teases him once seeing the two together and how Phinks behaves around his crush, he realizes that he behaves differently and he will ponder that (a few days of pondering leads him to realize that he likes his crush quite a bit)

-He’d be chill with walking around with his crush, just sightseeing ye know?

-It would take him forever to confess though since he’d be too embarrassed and doesn’t want any of the spiders to be near

Shalnark

-He really behaves no differently than any other time

-He might ask them out to go to an arcade or to hang out and play video games

-If he has a crush, he just hangs out with them more than he does with other people

-Other than that, he is just a best friend type of deal

Feitan

-Flustered and annoyed more easily when around his crush

-Entails a lot of slight bicker-sessions with them

-He is kinda like Chrollo in the sense that he is a bit drab, except Feitan won’t care if his crush wants to be his s/o or not (he also doesn’t care to realize his own feelings, all he knows is that he really likes that person and wants them to himself), he is a bit more physical with them

-He would be more possessive than the other guys, not wanting any other person to be flirting with his crush and whatnot. So basically the prelim for him is to not have many friends
