People think that a guru or roshi or any sort of spiritual teacher should be nice and inoffensive. But isn't it true that a loving parent is willing to cause a small upset to prevent a larger one? A loving parent would snatch a wandering child from the road. A teacher should be no different. Like our birth parents, a spiritual teachers' job is to teach, not to be a friend.
