Dragons Rising S4 Spoilers - The funniest shit ever
The green ninja’s power being their connections is really sweet and meaningful, however, if you recall Lloyd’s power from the Ninjago Movie… ✨green✨
realised this while talking and burst out laughing in the middle of the conversation.
This is an old drawing but I got rid of some old HCs on it so it looked more canon!! I love how it turned out
Amir takes the stairs
may be a dumb question, but has Lloyd ever gotten a definitive “True Potential” moment?
Considering everyone else’s…
Every instance we’ve seen has been characterized by:
1. Glowing eyes
2. Surrounded by elemental energy
3. Overcoming a personal obstacle
4. Performing a powerful feat
This has held up consistently even into Dragons Rising.
Now let’s see what Lloyd has:
Ultimate Spinjitsu Master:
Glowing eyes: ❌ (glowing eyes are well established by the other ninja’s True Potentials by this point.)
Surrounded by elemental energy: ❔ (His armor glows, but the golden power isn’t really his persé, it’s his grandfather’s)
Overcoming a personal obstacle: ❔(Lloyd accepted his destiny not only as the Green ninja but also his place in the final battle long before this moment. Nothing personal actually triggers his power-up.)
Performing a powerful feat: ✅ (Summons an Elemental Dragon, which all the ninja are capable of, and beats back the Overlord, but doesn’t actually kill him)
Green Destiny:
Glowing eyes: ✅
Surrounded by elemental energy: ✅
Overcoming a personal obstacle: ✅
Performing a powerful feat: ❌ (Lloyd’s power transferred back to him, but no feat was performed. The fight ends because Garmadon lost his power, not because Lloyd got his back.)
Battle for the Imperium Gate:
Glowing eyes: ✅
Surrounded by elemental energy: ✅
Overcoming a personal obstacle: ❔(accepting responsibility/ consequences as a conduit?)
Performing a powerful feat: ✅ (powers the portal gate enough to let every person and dragon through.)
This is weirdly the closest we’ve gotten, but it feels off to have this so late. Does this confusion tie into the fact that Lloyd’s element is so misunderstood? There’s a lot of grey area surrounding this topic, so feel free to discuss in the comments and RBs.
So if there are new true potentials, what if they rotate the lessons?
Jay and his amnesia needs to learn Zane’s lesson - I know who I am - whether or not he gets his memory back. Maybe more about accepting who he is. (I’ve seen DR Jay paralleled to ice emperor Zane and sea Nya, but never to pre-pilots amnesia Zane.)
Lloyd could probably benefit from Nya’s accepting that she doesn’t have to be perfect. After all, he’s been comparing himself to Master Wu for 3 seasons now.
And here’s where I get stuck though. :(
Jay learned to be honest, I think. Kai learned to put his ego aside and protect others, Cole came out of the closet, and Lloyd?
And that was the first time Garmadon tucked his son in.
