A/N: We’ll have our reader and Loki show up soon, but this is the build up toward that. I don’t hate Sharon fyi, but she seemed like the only character I could put in my OC’s place.

Mistakes Were Made

“I said I wanted this dress in cherry blossom pink, not lavender pink!” cried out a voice with a horrible screech before a shatter followed. All the servants that were in hearing distance pitied the poor soul that had not adhered to their princess’s ridiculous demands. 

When their dashing prince Steven had first married, many had been skeptical that his marriage would last. That it had been a spontaneous decision on his part, for he had already been previously engaged with the kind hearted Princess (Y/N) Stark of the small kingdom of Feosol. 

Although when she was captured, and when Prince Steven set off to find Princess (Y/N), to the surprise of many the search for his previous lover was short lived when he met his future wife Princess Sharon of the Slarerian Empire. The courtship was brief, and surprised many at the abrupt need for both to marry so quickly but no objection was made. 

Initially the marriage between the two was peaceful and Princess Sharon had adjusted rapidly to her new domain, but after three years of marriage it was made apparent that neither of the two was happy. Princess Sharon had become bitter, quick tempered, and demanding whereas her husband Prince Steven had become distant, sullen, and cold to his wife.  

It explained why there was such a buzz amongst the servants as their generally quiet prince approached his wife’s room. The moment he stepped foot in the room, there was enough tension between them it could be cut with a sword.  

“To what do I owe this great honor that is your presence, dear husband” Sharon said bitterly as she sat on her vanity. 

“I could do without the sarcasm Sharon,” Steve muttered as he returned her gaze, “But it concerns Princess (Y/N), whom I would assume you were aware I was once previously engaged to.” 

“Do you mean the forgotten princess?” she inquired, “The one you left behind in order to marry me three years ago. Of course I remember her, she would have been the one stuck in my place had you continued with your journey so long ago.” 

“Do not hold a grudge against her Jael, she has done nothing toward you” Steve defended. 

“Of course I hold no grudge against her, she did nothing wrong” she said calmly, “After all it’s not her fault that her beloved stopped searching for her. Or that both of us were so naive as to court each other when neither of us was truly willing to getting married.” 

“Rather you should be asking yourself, if she will be willing to forgive you after what you have done” she growled. 

“I have already come to terms that she may never forgive me, for the mistakes I made” he whispered “For not marrying her as I promised so long ago, for giving up so quickly on my search for her, and for marrying you when we honestly did not hold the feelings that we tricked ourselves to believing we had.” 

At his final confession Sharon broke down in tears, the words that had never been spoken between the two finally said. And for the first time in years, he approached her with the warmth of when they first met and pulled her into his arms. She grasped his clothing tightly, allowing the walls she had built over the years to come down. 

“I have to go and find her Sharon,” Steve muttered “Not just to make peace with the demons I have battled everyday since I gave up on her. But to hopefully make amends for all I have put both of you through.” 

“I understand Steve” Sharon said with a wry smile, “Don’t make the same mistake twice. Don’t give up hope so quickly. Go to her, and make her happy as you should have done all those years ago. I’ll see to it that our marriage is annulled.” 

“Thank you, Sharon” he hurriedly said as he made his way out her room, “And I’m sorry I could not have been a better husband while we were together.” 

“If you want to make it up to me Steve, then I expect to hear news that you found her” Sharon chuckled good naturedly. 

Steve smiled and couldn’t help but shake his head in disbelief. 

“I honestly believe that we could have been friends had we not started courting” he stated. 

“Maybe it’s not too late Steve” Sharon said, “But please go, don’t keep her waiting any longer than you have.” 

“I won’t” he uttered as he quickly ran out the room and down the hall. 

“I just hope you’re not too late” Sharon whispered nervously, hoping that Steve had not waited too long.

You know those people who will tell you they like your posts but you never get one notification from them? On Tumblr, Facebook, other places. Those people lurk around and aren’t really happy that you’re doing good.

You know those people who spend hours talking to you pretending to be your friend and then the next day send you a hate anon but you know it’s them because you’re receptive of everything - their typing style, the way they talk, the mistakes they make.

You know those people who you cannot trust? Well, I don’t. I trust everyone. And that may make me a fool but what good is living life being suspicious all the time? And 97% times they break my trust, some even break me. But those other 3%? They wipe all that hurt away. They make you strong again. They are worth it.

Today, I had the privilege of taking my cousin to her first American church. The message was powerful: It's not our good works that pave the way to heaven, but the grace of accepting that Jesus has already carried the burden for us. Shine and let your light be seen by others.✝️
