Rebuilding Self-Trust After Years of Doubting Yourself
There’s a quiet grief that comes with not trusting yourself. You second-guess your choices, overanalyse your words, seek validation in every direction but inward—and even then, it never feels enough. When you’ve spent years doubting yourself, it’s not just about insecurity. It becomes a fracture in your sense of self. You don’t just question your decisions—you question your worth, your instincts,…
important reminders✨
🎀 the more you are yourself, the more aligned you become
🎀 stop letting people put you in a box
🎀 embrace your unique self
🎀 you are a soul with a body. nourish it.
🎀 there's nothing wrong with your body
🎀 once i stopped picking at the physical traits I "disliked" about my body and started appreciating what it does for me, the more i love it. if you stop stressing over your weight and do the work that makes you overall healthy, (ex: moving your body in a way that feels good to you, eating intuitively and accepting that there are no "bad" foods, meditating, journaling, and being in nature, your body will look and feel the way it's suppose to)
🎀 start looking inward and internally, stop looking for fixes externally
🎀 stop playing the victim if you want to heal and take your power back
🎀 believe in your true self. believe how God created you to be. who you are created to be is the greatest gift you can give the world
ʚ♡⃛ɞ One of the ways I practice following my intuition is through trusting my instincts and not denying them
ʚ♡⃛ɞ Instincts deal with what your body is telling you than what your “logical” mind is telling you, it deals with your body’s basic drives and what it does automatically without having to “think” (logic) about it to keep you surviving, it also deals with the back part of your brain, the “hind brain”
ʚ♡⃛ɞ It deals with internal rather than external validation that can sometimes cloud your brain
ʚ♡⃛ɞ Your body remembers way more than your mind does, especially when it comes to trauma and primal urges and also how are brains are wired to follow specific patterns
ʚ♡⃛ɞ If your body is trying to tell you something, don’t ignore it and figure out what’s wrong first and then your mind will help to make sense of it
ʚ♡⃛ɞ Your instincts are not what you “want” to happen but how you truly “feel” (your body’s reactions) what is going on
Here's a thought
If it doesn't feel right, don't do it. If you don't feel safe, leave. If you hate being a part of it, disengage.
Trust your feelings. The voice of your conscience is always a whisper more than a shout, but it is simultaneously so loud that you can't ignore it.
You'll make mistakes. You'll hesitate. We all do. But once you're ready, you'll go forth and you won't look back.
No regrets.
No matter how much we try to explain ourselves to someone, that person will only understand what they want to understand.
No matter what we try to tell people, people will only take away what they want to take away from it.
That’s why I feel we shouldn’t keep wasting time clearing up people’s misunderstandings.
Let people understand whatever they want to.
Because the ones who truly want to understand us, will understand us even without any explanation from our side.
A lot of people in these tags are not actually struggling to perceive. You get the hit. The trouble starts in the half second after, when you talk yourself out of it. If you have ever felt like you keep being right and keep refusing to believe yourself, that is the thing worth fixing, not your sensitivity.
The hit and the doubt are two different voices and they do not sound alike. The first impression arrives once, quiet, and a little flat. It does not argue its case. The doubt shows up second, louder, and it repeats. Learning to tell them apart is most of the work.
Watch the order, because the order is the tell. The signal lands, and then a beat later the mind moves in to correct it. That correction is not new and better information. It is just discomfort with having no reason attached, so the mind reaches for one, and the reason it grabs is almost always I made that up.
Two things wear intuition's clothing. Fear, which is loud and wants you to brace for something. Wishful thinking, which is warm and wants one specific answer to be true. A real read tends to be oddly neutral by comparison. It does not care whether you like it or not, which is part of how you know it is not coming from you.
You cannot settle this by thinking harder. Arguing both sides just feeds the loop and buries the original impression under commentary. So stop trying to reason your way to trust and start writing the first impression down the second it lands, before the edit gets to it. The raw note is the data. What you talk yourself into afterward is not.
Trust is not a decision you make once. It is a track record you build. Take small, low-stakes reads where you will actually find out the answer later, note the first impression, then check it against what happened. Do that for a few weeks and you stop arguing with yourself, because now you have receipts instead of a feeling about a feeling.
None of this means the first impression is always right. It means it is worth recording instead of erasing. Sometimes the doubt is the correct one and the hit was off, and that is fine. You only learn which is which by keeping both and watching the pattern over time, not by trusting blind and not by dismissing on reflex.
So if you second-guess yourself constantly, you are not bad at this. You are running an internal editor that fires faster than your trust has caught up to. Slow the editor down, keep the raw notes, and let the feedback do the convincing for you.
