2018 - Biennial of the Low Buy
Strictly speaking, calling it a Biennial isn’t correct; but as we enter our second year of semi-conscious consumerism, let’s just roll with it shall we?
As with last year I invested some time in making a starting inventory, which was an easier task because of the meticulous record keeping last year, so with the spare time and energy, I went and made one for fragrance as well. The details:
Skin/Hair/Body Care
Number of Items: 480 Number of Brands: 170 Number of Categories: 3 Number of Sub Categories: 49 Super: 6 Full: 192 Deluxe: 196 Sample: 86
Makeup
605 items, not posting any breakdowns because it’s rather long and tedious
Fragrance
34 items, with no further breakdown.
Now For Some Target Setting:
Skin, Hair & Body
Net inventory at the end of the year: 450
Items used per month: 10
Makeup
Net inventory at the end of the year: 600
Fragrance
Net inventory at the end of the year: 30
Money Spent
$1,800 by the end of the year
It might seem like I’m letting myself off easy, but given my habits I think I’ll definitely be challenged, especially on the $1,800. I think $200 a month is my ‘equilibrium’ spending on all things beauty, but we’ll roll with this and see where we land before adjusting for next year. Let the tracking begin!
Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Prickly Pear Seed Oil has been a Hall of Fame-r for a while. I first came across it in May 2015 via the Lookfantastic beauty box, finished that jar, loved it and then got another one in November 2016 in the Lookfantastic Advent Calendar. This is that jar, which has now found it’s way to the shower.
I spy the boss again, he is always insperecting my work. Happy Friday all! Hope you have a great night. Yep just sewed half a bunny ear with no thread. No thing I hate about this sewing machine, my brothers would tell me when I was low and it cut threads too. But the singer sews better so I suffer through it. . . . . #sewing #sewingoops #sewingproblems #sewingproject #customorder #tryingtofinish #yepithappened #happenedtome #sewist #sewingmama #sewingmachine #singersewingmachine #singer #makingstuffedanimals #dollmaker #oops #sewersofinstagram #sewingforkids #sewinglove #stuffedanimal #thread #outofthread #bibbon #whitebunny
Taking the hand cream to work was a brilliant idea. I’m nearing the end of the L’occitane which has prompted the removal of this Crabtree&Evelyn Citron, Honey & Corriander number out of waiting and into the office drawer where it will be used several times everyday. Speaking of Crabtree & Evelyn I just realised I forgot to pick up my free loyalty gift for this quarter. Oh well.
Burning my way through face mists despite barely cleaning my face once a day; I still have another ten of them. Finished the Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence and replacing it with January Labs Restorative Tonic Mist. I have more deluxe than full sizes and I’m focusing on them to clean out my inventory a bit.
Minor Details
Some time ago I shared an update on my reserves of soap but forgot to include the bar I had just opened (twin of the Le Labo Bergamote 22 bar in the picture) and one slightly used one that I had brought back from my latest hotel stay.
Well I would like to update that the Bergamote 22 has since been ‘washed-up’ (hah!) and replaced with the open Metis bar. All of this while I try to work through two body washes and two body scrubs crowding in my shower.
This could have been a Soap Opera but I don’t have any pictures and they would not have shown any progress. Just know that I’m now one soap bar less.
