I had a great time being a spectator yesterday at WEG, it was nice to be in the stands instead of behind the scenes as a volunteer (although that has been super cool in its own way!). It was miserably hot, but I got some great photos and felt really close to the action!
Watching Eventing is just not that interesting if you know that Michi isn’t competing
So who all is going to WEG? I’m going from ~18th-23rd.
It’ll be a shitshow so I’ll document it for y’all lmao

For the first time in 32 years, the U.S. Jumping Team presented by NetJets got to stand on the top step of the podium holding a gold medal for the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Jumping Championship at the FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon 2018 (WEG) at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

Well our trip to tryon is not what we’ve hoped for. Yesterday I had a migraine that was one of the worst I’ve ever had. It was really hot (mid 80s and humid with the sun beaming down on us), bright and loud.
Couldn’t sleep, and nearly passed out from the pain. I was burning up and since my bp was so low it exacerbated my restless legs. Had to get my mom to keep a cold washcloth on my head and check my pulse. It was 100+ laying down with my feet elevated.
Fell asleep eventually and woke up today at noon. Still don’t feel great. I don’t think we will be returning to TIEC. I’ll be visiting a friend who is a working student at a nearby farm tomorrow but after that we are probably headed home.
Only watched a few rounds of jumping before leaving the stands since the sun was so so so hot. We were sitting in front of the Native American themed double (oxer and vertical). We got there before the first break and left as a rider from Japan was entering.
Overall it was a good time but I just can’t physically handle it. Maybe if it was cooler, or if I had adequate pain relief it would work out.
I have a lot more photos and videos from the tack/apparel tents that I’ll be uploading. Didn’t buy anything since I want to support my local tack stores near home.
I’ll take pics of the horses at the farm tomorrow.
Can’t remember what this trailer’s name was but they had the most gaudy stuff and I’m LOVING IT
