Please be aware, the area is HUGE.

It was my first attempt at an sc4 terrain and I didn't realize how much bigger it'd be when imported into Sims 2. I wanted a lot of space for large farms... I definitely accomplished that.

I also tried to make beach lots work, but only one road ended up being close enough to the water. You can still get about 2-3 beach lots in - again, I'm new to making sc4 terrains and misjudged the sizing.

By that point I'd gone back to SC4 to tweak things at least a dozen times, and I was getting impatient to decorate and play, so I didn't fix it. I knew I planned to cover most of the coastline in rocks anyway, and at the time I had no intention of sharing the terrain on Tumblr.

Now here's where I might place future lots:

The little hilltop to the northeast is where my nobles will live, and eventually my royal family. I'll have my main castle there, and there'll be plenty of space for military barracks, training grounds, and a farm to feed the upper classes and military.

The east will be my shops, communal well, tavern, boarding house, etc. There's more room than what I know what to do with, so I'll probably fill it up with a few deco buildings too. I'll probably have my convent and church somewhere in the middle, where it starts to become more rural. All of the farmland will be to the west, and then the most western edge of the map will be forests. The little hill on the top left will probably have a camp for my outlaws.

Everything is obviously subject to change, as this is a very long-term project and I have a lot of time to get new ideas, but I wanted to share my thought process while designing the map.

2 beach lots are compatible on the map, most of us hate beach lots, but the current is stronger here . . . the sand seems to sink into the depths.

Curious' Four Matching Maps - Dahlry Metropolitan Area

Overview

Ever wanted a main hood with sub-hoods that actually matched and aligned together? Roads that connected each region to one another and with terrain that matches at the edges? Well you've come to the right place!

I believe that this has already been done before, but for the life of me, I can't find another creator that made matching SC4 maps like this; maybe I just haven't put in the right keyword. Either way, I decided to give it a try and see what happened.

Basic Information

There are four SC4 maps that align in a square grid and form a peninsula. This way, even if you decide to grab only two of the four maps, they will match up (unless you grab two that are diagonal from each other). Of course, only one map can ever truly be a main hood while the others are sub-hoods but you get the idea.

You get to choose whichever one you want to be your main hood, and the other three can be a shopping district, a downtown, and a university. Or whatever way you want to use a sub-hood for.

Each map is labeled with it's own name to easily pick and choose. Or grab the all-in-one if you want four new maps.

The hoods that are already initialized and decorated also have slightly edited terrain. I used the cheat modifyNeighborhoodTerrain [on/off] to flatten a few beach edges and roads. If you only grab the terrain files, these small edits will not be there.

The decorated hood files have nothing in them except for hood deco. There are no lots, no playables, and no townies.

SC4 Map Options

SC4 maps are the terrains that are available at the main screen of the game when you create a new custom neighborhood. If you just want these maps, they will be empty; there is nothing but the roads.

Dahlry Cove Top-left quadrant. Main hood. Connects to Norlin Bay and Rams Horn.

Norlin Bay Bottom-Left quadrant. Shopping hood. Connects to Dahlry Cove and Port Winslow.

Port Winslow Bottom-Right quadrant. Downtown hood. Connects to Rams Horn and Norlin Bay.

Rams Horn Top-Right quadrant. University hood. Connects to Port Winslow and Dahlry Cove.

While I labeled these subhoods to be used a certain way, that it just the way I had it in my mind while making them. You can use them however you want.

Decorated Hood Options

Decorated hood options are hoods that will appear on the main screen as a brand new neighborhood. These have been initialized since I had to go in to decorate. The pictures at the bottom are what you will see when you load up these hoods. Feel free to keep them that way or change things around and make it your own!

Dahlry Cove A main hood prepped and ready for lots to be added! There are no playables, no townies, and no sub-hoods attached. A clean slate ready for you.

Four-In-One Don't want to do all the work? Grab this all-in-one that has all four maps already added. There are no playables, no townies, and no sub-hoods attached. In this option, Dahlry is the main hood with the other three as sub-hoods already attached. If you were wanting another one to be the main hood, you'll have to make it yourself!

Install Instructions and Links

To add SC4 files, choose one of the five options and place everything in the folder provided into: Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection > SC4Terrains

To add decorated hoods, choose one of the two options and place the folder named DAHL into: Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection > Neighborhoods

50 Followers Gift - Meadow, a Terrain

I made this terrain for myself a few days ago, and noticed I was so close to 50 followers that I might as well use that as an excuse to share it as well. So my friends, without further ado, I present to you, Meadow:

It’s only the second terrain I’ve ever made, and I’m really proud of it! My vision was simply: wooded hills opening up to a vast meadow full of wild flowers and pretty colors, with a hint of the sea in the very corner.

What I give to you is the terrain only, but here is how I have it decorated in my game for reference:

Alpine Village, a Small Spooky Sims 2 Map

🍂 What lies on the other side of the mountain? Is that what lives above so different from that which lies below? 🍂

Alpine Village is smaller than it looks, its community secretive and tight knit - not exactly warm or welcoming to newcomers. Mysteries abound, the secretive townsfolk stoke the flame of wild imagination, as they seem not to notice the darkened depths of the ominous murky lakes, nor the towering mountainous landscape that curls over the town like a claw.

And what of the mist that sits at the waters edge, the fog that climbs the mountain and stays there all morning? Some say that the top of the mountain is inhabited . . . but by what exactly? Oh, none can say for sure - as no one has been brave enough to find out. Or maybe the townsfolk just don't want you to know.

Coralwood
