might I please request some headcanons for Varian falling for a reader who’s a witch? (like from toh) but it’s not the usual enemies/rivals-to-lovers, cuz they’re actually super interested in each other’s abilities like ‘ohmygosh how did you just do that and teach it to me now’ and bond over it? please, and thank you

There is no way to describe how enamoured with you he is

Like after you two met he would just get a notepad and a pen, asking you TONS of questions

You’d think this was a bit but then he would actually start writing down your responses

Legit would go like ‘Hmm, interesting’ like you were a new kind of rock he had grown in his lab or sth

Your enthusiasm about his hobby/occupation kind of surprises him actually

To be fair not a lot of people take interest in his tinkering

Most think it’s either boring or they don’t want to be in any close proximity to his inventions

Fair enough, considering how many of them had blown up in his face or caused serious property damage

Still, it is a bit sad that you might be the first one with genuine interest in his craft

Speaking of which, he would definitely try to include your magic in his alchemy

All in all his whole ‘it’s not magic, ppl!’ thing isn’t a testimony to how much he hates all things outside of science’s reach, he just wants others to label his potions and inventions correctly

But now he has you so if you want to enchant his machinery he’ll be thrilled

He loves to gaze at you just spell casting and brewing magical concoctions, he always notes how well acquainted you are with your wand and spell book (and how it’s kinda attractive to him-)

Everyone is so happy that you two got together

But also sliiiiightly terrified

Like, two golden retriever people just so excited and fascinated with all things academic and technical, both magic and science related, is nice in theory

But when Eugene sees that shared look of yours, he will start running because things will go up in flames sooner or later

Varian tried out magic at one point but uh

Also, lots of flames (it’s not that he’s not capable of doing things right, but he is way too eager to learn and way too distracted by how attractive you are when you talk about magic to him; so perhaps he will learn spells one day, but that day has yet to come)

Overall, your relationship is literally iconic and everyone envies you because you love each other so much

Masterlist

This story begins with a kingdom. Even though this one was so far away that one may claim it was purposefully cut off from the rest of the world, everyone still recognized it. Its name? The Dark Kingdom.

Now, this kingdom was well-known—or infamous, depending on whom you asked—for a variety of things, one of which was referred to as the Moon Stone.

Many people debated on the origin of such an artifact. Ranging from it being a gift from the Gods to protect their people, to it simply being children's fairytales or even a made up story so townsfolk had yet another reason to party and behave recklessly.

However, the narrative that was widely accepted or at least appeared to be well known was as follows:

‘’Once upon a time a single drop of moonlight fell from the heavens; and from that small drop grew a magic blue stone. It had the ability to destroy everything that touched it.

After centuries had passed a small village grew around it. That little community quickly turned into a whole kingdom. The people were intrigued by this strange small rock, they found it captivating, alluring even, but they knew of its danger and so it was transported to one of the chambers in the king's castle; where no one would be able to reach the moon stone.

The stone was heavily guarded from generation to generation until King Edmund, commonly also known as 'The one who lost his mind' was driven insane by the curiosity he felt toward the peculiar object, driving him to the point of attempting to touch it despite the warnings coming from his counsel.’’

Up to this day nobody knows what happened to the moon stone or if it had any kind of impact on anyone. Could they have gone insane like their king? Were there any side effects? Are they even alive?

All they knew was that once a year, speculated in being the same day the moon stone was destroyed -as assumed by the citizens- they had a ceremony where they would remember what essentially created the place they live now.

What the people from the Dark Kingdom didn't know was that some of the rumors were correct. Unfortunately the accident had unintended consequences and one of the councilmen, known as Quirin unknowingly passed the powers from the moon stone to his child. 

He learnt about the when the child, only a few months old, would have outbursts and some black sharp looking rocks would come out of the ground.

It got harder to control when his wife, Ulla, passed away while on one of her excursions to try figuring out what was happening.

Quirin took his son to the king. Naturally he was furious with him for everything bad that had happened in his life during the last twelve months.

They agreed that the youngster would need to be locked up in a secure location since they anticipated that the situation would start to get intolerable unless under strict control.

In order to avoid being discovered, Quirin relocated with his infant son to a remote tower that was tucked away in the heart of the woods.

Oh, what was the name of the child? Varian.

Yes you may! varian is one of my favorite tts characters (alongside lance) so I really enjoyed writing for him.

-You and Varian had been friends for a while now, and drawing was one of your hobbies

-at the start of your friendship, you had shown him some of your drawings, and left your book sat out freely whenever you two hung out

-but for some reason you had stopped showing him your drawings.

-he didn't really question it, until you started constantly hiding your sketchbook whenever you were done drawing, and acting nervous whenever Varian got near it

-Varian had missed you showing him your sketches, and liked your art style, so he asked if you could show him some of your more recent works, but you quickly responded, "No.. I don't think that's really necessary" and then he was suspicious

-he began questioning what you could be drawing, but he just couldn't figure out what you would be so embarrassed of

-he wasn't going to say anything to you of course, because he both respected your privacy, and thought it would be weird to ask, "hey, why have you been hiding your drawings lately?" so he decided to let it go

-that was until you left you sketchbook sitting right next to his desk unattended

-you had left to grab some food and would be back in a minute, so you kinda forgot to put it away

-it probably wouldn't be a big problem, Varian was so absorbed in his work that your drawings wouldn't be of interest to him

-Varian however, let curiosity get the best of him, and opened up your sketchbook, only to see a drawing of himself

-he thought it was sweet of you to draw him, and decided to look at the rest of the pages

-but when he turned the page, it was met with another drawing of him, then another, and another

-the book was full of them

-Varian's face turned bright red, he was flustered at the first drawing, but a whole book full? he couldn't believe it.

-he couldn't believe the person he liked drew him so many damn times

-the sound of footsteps caused him to slam the book shut and run over to his workspace, his face still burning with embarrassment

-you walk back in to see an extremely flustered varian

-when you ask him why he looks that way, he quicks responds, "Nothing! just.. uah- hot in here haha"

-you know that's not it but it would be rude to push, so you sit back down in your seat to see your sketchbook moved over to the other side of the table, and sat down in a different way then you left it

-Varian couldn't have opened it.. had he?

-expect this to never come up in a conversation again, you two are two nervous to bring it up..

I'm gonna do the fantast kind mostly b/c it's the one I know a little bit about

⚗️ Alchemy is kinda similar to witchcraft, so he shares materials with you

⚗️He claims that "he doesn't work with magic" but he'll literally help you. Potion you forgot about that you desperately need? He'll make it for you.

⚗️Refuses to kiss you while you're making your potions. He loves you, he really does, but he DOES NOT want to be turned into a frog . . . again

⚗️The two of you could spend hours talking about your respective crafts; the frustrations the two of your share are really similar. A few dates have been spent this way

⚗️Your dates are really unique because you can fly the two of you up to places. (Privately) Varian loves the freedom you bring. It's just the two of you against the world, really

⚗️He encourages you to talk about witchcraft because he loves your voice :')

Can I just say I’m still sad that Varian doesn’t call Cassandra Cassie at all for the rest of the show after great expotations I remember thinking “aww that’s gonna be his sweet little nickname for her. Because she said he could call her that. And the he just calls her Cass the rest of the show :(

Or is my memory wrong because I feel like I remember her said that she didn’t mind the name or something like that.

i've been looking for someone who writes for Tangled the Series for a while and i'm oh so glad that i found your blog! so...if you're still up to write for Varian...i don't know if you know who Nilou from Genshin is, esentially she's a dancer (i think persian style dancing specifically) so...may i request some headcanons for Varian with a fem!reader who's like Nilou, a really delicate and elegant dancer who's also a sweetheart off-stage? sorry if this request it's a bit too specific though

I’m glad you like my blog! To be fair, i have no idea about anything genshin related, but this is what we have Google for

As soon as he sees you perform he gets a tiny puppy crush on you

He notes how elegantly you move and how deliberate all your movements are

Still, he’s not head over hills for you just yet, not until he properly meets you

Because imo it’s kind of clear that he catches feelings for people that are just nice to him

Like, if you are decent and polite he will think you are the one

And you are a total sweetheart

Ngl he will be overwhelming the first few times you meet but he has good intentions

After he grows on you (it’s not hard, he’s kind and cute, just very… intense in his feelings) the path to a relationship is not a log one

You’re the gentle, sweet soul he needs
