Is anyone else utterly confused by the attitude of “don’t leave comments on my tumblr posts?” I personally love it when people reblog my posts with comments (even just “this post was good”).
Tumblr was made for people to have conversations through reblog chains. And I think part of why a lot of Tumblr users have moved to discord is *because* the site culture has shifted away from talking in reblog chains, the way we’re meant to, and discord offers a substitute for that type of conversation. Tumblr is a great place for those forum-like discussions— it’s a core part of how you’re supposed to interact with the site—- but for a while people have been discouraging users from leaving comments in reblogs “unless they have something super important to say” which is utterly baffling to me.
As a result the only comments you get on your posts are often just, people rudely disagreeing with you? Because the people who agree and want add on, or the people who politely disagree and want to have a genuine friendly debate about media, feel like it’s not worth commenting at all.
Especially because the site is less busy now, I like it when people treat tumblr as a big Discord server conversation— using reblog chains as a way of having a discussion.
I genuinely don’t understand where the anti-comment attitude comes from, at all. 😂 to me it’s like: if you’re not trying to talk to people, then why are you even posting? Tumblr is such a “small” website that there’s not a lot of point trying to be a tumblr influencer.
This is all to say that: anyone should feel free to leave comments in the reblogs at any time! I love having discussions by reblogging back and forth :D
