How will our group execute ETHOS ,PATHOS,LOGOS?

ETHOS:

   The interview we conducted for the Lit Review was part of our ethos in our Documentary. Also a student pursuing Mechanical Engineering gave his output based on his experience in a STEM field. Obama was used to

PATHOS:

By demonstrating the effect of students after they can't achieve the requirements of a STEM field they drop out and by that there is one less Hispanic student in STEM. Not to mention the tone of the Documentary is serious and allows to persuade the audience.

LOGOS:

The scholarships we provided, images with numbers of Hispanic students underrepresented, and also we provided a section were we talked about financial aid. Through this we informed our audience of ways students can avoid this conflict of underrepresentation in STEM.

ETHOS:

In my website I will provide my bio section that will be considered ethos. The assignments that were assigned by Audrey are also considered Ethos because it was given by the professor.

PATHOS:

Assignment Reflection will be a more personal opinion and feelings of the assignments. On top of that I will share personal experiences and feelings of the process I went through on my assignments. By providing emotion, I will provide some elements of design to my website that are designed to give the viewers a specific feeling; the elements of my website are meant to express closure to the experiences based on my content.

LOGOS:

I plan to use logic in my website so that I can provide enough material that is mostly common, I will not plan to make my website so common to where the audience can have the expectations about my website. By using logos, this creates better reasoning to how I explain the information of my content

Section B:

I plan to use consistency to give my website some details such as organizing the text according to the information that I provide. by selecting a specific style of fonts, I will customize to be minimal and simple. Contrast, consistency, balance, grouping, and alignment are very important to ensure that audience’s attention has been captured.

I am actually kind of sad that this is the last blog post I will write for RWS 1302, but it has been a great help throughout the class and I am way more comfortable with Tumblr now!

#Week 15: Ethos, Pathos, Logos FTW!

Almost done with this semester and this picture describes exactly how the end of the semester has me! The feels are real!

Section A: As a Writer...

The way I will achieve using rhetorical appeal throughout my website is to make sure that each piece of writing that goes one each page is liable and has enough detail backed up with supported evidence (if needed). For instance with the “About Me” page, I can have the use of pathos involved since I’m talking about my future and what I plan on achieving. Ethos and Logos can be implemented within the assignment and course reading reflections since my writing will be credible (it goes through ethos) and I’ll be implementing logical information--facts, statistics, and photos that are valid (ties to logos). The viewer will be able to see little clips of each rhetorical appeal and have an idea of the concepts that I am using. 

Section B: As a Designer...

The way that I will achieve ethos, pathos and logos is by using the 5 special elements that make a website, the perfect website. Having an even portion of text and photos will go very nicely in a website, just so the reader doesn’t feel overwhelmed with a huge amount of photos or text. I will make sure to keep my website consistent within every section and make sure that it has a special flow to it in order to keep the viewer/audience engaged. As far as color details go, I won’t be implementing flashy colors--instead I’ll use more soft and professional kind of colors. I want the audience to feel informed and stay engaged as much as possible. I will make sure to follow each of the guidelines required for my website and will take some thought into expanding my vision more--without making it to flashy, but have it more eye-catching to the viewer.

Ethos, Pathos, Logos FTW! Week 15

I am happy to say that the final Tumblr assignment of the semester has arrived!

Section A: 

Ethos

> As a writer, I will ensure that ethos is incorporated to my website. I will do this to assure that the audience can have someone to relate to and to just keep it nice and simple. I will go into detail and make sure that I do not go in too much depth so that I don’t lose the audiences interest. I will also have it checked for any type of grammar errors. 

Pathos

> I will be sure to keep the audience interested simply so that they can feel like they’re getting to know me, my major, and what I classify as. Making sure that they at the very least glance at the assignments is key. 

Logos

> I really want to make sure that all of the text and background images looks very professionally done and well organized. I will also use the book as reference so that I know that everything is correctly placed and in order.

Section B:

Ethos

> With the design of my website, I will make sure that the information that will be put into to it will be liable. I will also make sure that it fits the overall design of the page. 

Pathos

> I will use pathos in the design by using backgrounds that will keep the viewers attention. Any colors that are used will be in accordance with the guidelines. I will make sure that there is nothing that may give my website an unbalanced look or feel. 

Logos

> I will use logos to ensure that my website is simple, yet keep it looking as neat and as organized as possible. I do not want the audience to have any problems with going through my website, I want it to be smooth and easy to search through.

Ethos, Pathos, Logos FTW!!!

So this is the very last Tumblr post we are required to complete for Professor Audrey’s RWS 1302 class and I gotta admit I feel soooo relieved!

But there is still one more very important major assignment to turn in before I am completely free, my website..

So how will I execute Ethos, Pathos, and Logos as a producer, creator, writer, and activist on my website?

 SECTION A: As a Writer..

1. How will you employ?

ETHOS: My homepage with my name and title will serve for the credibility that the website is mine and that I am the author. It will be credible since I will be including that I attend the University of Texas at El Paso and that I am taking the RWS 1302 course with Professor Audrey. Another way to be credible is of course providing an image of myself and examples of my assignments and experiences throughout the course.

PATHOS: Oh! This rhetorical appeal will be easy to apply since there were many emotions going on inside me during the whole semester! In the “Assignment Reflections” section, I will be able to express what my emotions were during each of the assignments and their completion. Also, in the “Course Reading Reflection” section, I will provide some feedback about my thoughts about the different readings required for each assignment in the semester.

LOGOS: Logic will be provided through the Fair Use Statement and any charts, graphs, tables, etc. I decide to utilize through the different tabs of my website. Also, through my writing fluency in my whole website that will definitely deliver logic. And simply through the information that I provide in each section and tab created in the homepage.

SECTION B: As a Designer..

2. How will you employ?

ETHOS: I will employ ethos through appropriate alignment and grouping of my text and images included in my website. I will have to take a big consideration in which way I want to execute my information to readers, either horizontally or vertically and not too much information either. Also, the information should not be too cluttered or too separated, but should be separated into small paragraphs pertaining specifically to each of the required sections. Simply using professional grammar and using reliable information for each source will employ ethos successfully. 

PATHOS: I will employ pathos (feelings and emotions) through consistency, contrast, and balance. I will keep a balance by having the same text on all of my website’s information except for the fact that my title and sub-titles will be a little bit bigger than the rest of the text but keeping the same font throughout. Images I provide will absolutely portray strong feelings, so I will consider which images to provide depending on what my information is about. The background will be a light not eye-catching color, which will not cause any distraction from the rest of the information I provide.

LOGOS: I will employ logos through the whole content in my website. The organization and different sections provided in my home page will be a big thing. I look forward to making it very self explanatory and easy for viewers to navigate on it. Simply by providing facts, statistics, and quotes, there will be a sense of logic transmitted into whoever wishes to navigate through my website.

So now that I am done analyzing various ways in which to apply each of the three rhetorical appeals into my website as a writer and as a designer, I feel even more relieved and happy since I just took one more step into the process of my website!

Ethos, Pathos, and Logos

SECTION A: As a writer!

Ethos: I will appeal to ethos in each of the required sections to enhance my credibility. On the homepage, I will write in an informative tone and style with no grammatical mistakes. Everything written will be facts and current news about me. Throughout my assignment and reading reflections I will keep a professional tone and style while explaining each assignment and reading. 

Pathos: I will appeal to pathos in each of the required sections by reaching the audiences emotions. Throughout each section I will write in a formal diction with no grammatical or mechanical errors. I will write how I felt during each assignment and reading to help reach the audiences emotions. 

Logos: I will appeal to logos in each of the required sections by using reasoning. In each of the sections I will back up my statements with facts and a  reason to why I did what I did. I will use support to make each of my statements strong and understood by the audience. 

SECTION B: As a designer!

As a designer I will have no spelling errors in any of my titles. I will have my layout very organized and professional to show that I am very credible. I will also include colors in my design that will correlate to the type of work I am doing. The design will have examples throughout the layout to help show my reasoning for each of my statements. 

Finally, I am done and will be able to rest and study for finals!

Its So close... I can Taste It...

Section A

Let me try and explain this to you, I am currently running on three hours of sleep. I did not expect a tumblr post today as I had checked yesterday and did not see anything being posted. I have an Essay to write as well as study for a test, A test that will define my grade for that entire class. I am Scared, I am Nervous, and more importantly, I am just done with life. But know that I am done trying to appeal to your Pathos through my writing I will try and show you how I will use both Ethos and Logos. Through my writing I will implement ideas that will build my own credibility while actually never providing you with any reason for you to believe that I am credible, I will do this by pulling various quotes from different articles and such. Now that a sense of “Credibility” has been made, I will hit you with logic. Logic on why you should join my side of the argument without even directly telling you this, I will only allude to the idea that the side I am on is the right side. But in the end, it is up to you, to believe whether or not I am correct. 

Section B

I do Believe that I am a better writer than a web designer. Last year for my RWS class we had to make a website much like the one we have to design for this RWS class. If you were to look at it you would believe it was simply one of the PDFs we get the instructions for our Tumblr Tuesday Posts. Honestly, It was just a red background with an image of my work. That was it. I got a 100 on it. I dont know how, it was horrible, but never the less, I now know that I need to do better. The cleaner and more professional it looks the more Ethos you are creating for yourself. With that beign said, the design concept for the site has to have a very clean look, if it does not you have failed and ill not find any jobs because your work does not look credible. At the same time, thats just basic logic, or logos in this case, logically, if something looks better it makes the creator more credible and more reliable to his work as it looks professionally made. Through Pathos, you can make little tag lines that will appeal to the viewers emotions. I consider myself a funny guy, therefore my tag lines and little messages would probably be scattered throughout the site, things such as “Click Here For More Info about The Author...But only if you want...Like you dont have Too... He really even isint that Good Looking”. Things of that nature to keep things light and to make sure the point of me being funny is displayed properly.

Ethos, Pathos, Logos FTW!

As i start this weeks tumblr post i cant help but feel anxious about making my own website especially after completing the huge short film project on Monday. But since the semester is almost done, i figured here goes nothing!

Section A: As a writer! I will attempt to integrate the ethos, pathos, and logos in order to make my website stunning and draws the audience to focus more on my thesis provided throughout my website. I will attempt to add credibility to most of my material that is discussed on my website so that I form a sense of ethos to keep the audience interested in reading my website. By adding ethos to my paper I not only provide credibility but everything that I state is not a mere rumor or an educational guess, rather all my information displayed is academic, organized, and completely reliable. By adding pathos, the information displayed can help to persuade the audience to feel a certain kind of emotion based on what I am trying to convince the audience about. For example in my literature review I discussed how the lack of diversity in the quality of care for most veterans that attend the VA, and I approach this topic by persuading the audience to  sympathizes with our US veterans and to get them involved with advocating a solution to this problem. As for logos, I intend in making sure that my papers and paragraphs displayed on my website will be comprehensive and simple to understand, I am not saying that my audience will not be able to comprehend my thesis for each paper but by sticking to simple English diction I can assure that my audience will not have any misconceptions regarding my topics.  

Section B: As a designer! Key elements such as contrast, consistency, balance, grouping, and alignment are very important to ensure that audience’s attention has been captured. To avoid losing my audience I will do my best to adjust the aspects of my website to fit the 5 principles of web design. I will keep my text font and size consistent except for major key points to give compliments to the sections of the webpage according to vital information and other sub-categories. I will also use the same style for each heading throughout the website to ensure consistency and to keep the audience’s attention. Any images or multimedia used on my website will be aligned evenly so that my images are reasonably recognizable among each image, but all my images will follow one main theme so that my audience can see how the images all tie into my papers thesis. I will group my content according to the rubric provided on BB which will have my Homepage, introduction about me; my Assignment Reflections;  my Reading Reflections, as well as the Extra credit opportunities which is the Course Reflection: What, So What, Now What.

Now that my post is complete and i have a simple rubric to use in order to help me assemble my website, i feel confident about putting the whole web page together. This almost feels as good as finishing a race in 1st place.
