what do you do when you feel sad and you don't have anyone to help you let your feelings out?
I’m someone that tends to keep my sadness to myself, as in, I don’t like asking other people for help because I just feel like I’m burdening them… and I get embarrassed of my own sadness? Afterwards, at least. So what I usually do is just stay calm and accept my sadness for what it is, and I ask myself: “Is there anything I can do to stop this sadness? If yes, then do that thing to stop it. If not, it’s okay. I can still get through this, even if it takes time.”
I like to treat it like a sudden flu, where it’s awful while I’m enduring it, but I know that my body will heal with time and care. I don’t get sad often, though when I do, I just remind myself that I’ve been sad before, and I’ve overcome it before, so I’ll be able to overcome it again. Then, I indulge in things that I love, like writing or reading or taking a bath with a Lush bomb or laying out in the sun or listening to my favourite happy songs, or if I’m feeling particularly bad, I’ll let myself cave to doing some spontaneous online shopping for new books or clothes. Personally, it helps to do things that I love in times that I’m feeling down because they’re things that keep me grounded, and they always make me happy!!
Alongside all of that, another really good thing that I do is exercise or go for a walk or dance crazily around my room because it gets my blood flowing and it resets my mind. Highly recommend!! 😌
Here are some of the songs that always put me in a good mood:
Nothing in Return by Monsune
Lover Boy by Phum Viphurit
Cousins by Vampire Weekend
Calling in Love by Suran ft. Beenzino
Me & You by Honne
Comes and Goes by Hyukoh
