They found their way to the upper reaches by bedtime.

Pepper is a hybrid tom, his father, Cole, is a Narragansett tom and his mom, Sophie, is a Black Spanish heritage hen.

Pepper has one Narragansett feather.

It is very obvious from the rear. :D

While Pepper poses and explores his new digs,

Sophie goes as high as possible...

eventually getting to the top of the pile of caging.

So that I will have to climb all the way up there to retrieve her egg. Did she not get the memo about turkeys being ground nesters???

This is MINE now???

With our visiting turkeys gone home, the barn cleaned, Sophie and Pepper return and reclaim their space. Pepper has not seen the barn since he was hatched.

And they now have new vistas to keep an eye on.

I can’t wait until tomorrow when I get to receive misdirected verbal assault from geriatric strangers who procrastinated so long they missed our already absurdly late turkey-ordering deadline. I love life.
