I don't put your birthday in my calendar anymore
but I still think about you each time I see the day
I still wish you well and pray for your success
If I see your accomplishments through the grape vine, I still cheer quietly from the sidelines
You dont hold a seat at my table anymore but I still hope your table is always plentiful
Please know this, even though we ended you still marked me in ways that will be ever-present
There are pieces of me that didn't exist until you and there are pieces of me that you'll never know
You don't get the privilege of holding space near me, but I still keep you safe
In a box, in my room of memories
Held deep in my heart
Old friends and strangers and yet here I am
I stare at my calendar
And thoughts of you cross my mind
Starlit and colorblind
