One of Milwaukee’s best music venues, Cactus Club, was contacted by Live Nation, and as club owner Kelsey Kaufmann explains in this tiktok- harassed her about Milwaukee’s Deer District double venue complex planned to begin building in 2023, a project that she vocally does not support.

A rep from Live Nation, the $18+BIL company who also bought up a large portion of Madison’s music venues in 2018, and is, as you should remember, also the same company at the center of the Astroworld tragedy that killed 10- called Kelsey and became antagonistic when she was critical of the proposed double venue project across from one of Milwaukee’s other historic venues, Turner Hall.

Scott, who still faces billions of dollars in numerous lawsuits, reached a private settlement out of court.

Despite a growing movement against the project other venues formed a group called Save MKE’s Music Scene, which made a petition from Concerned Downtown Neighbors, and has nearly 10k signatures, the Milwaukee Common Council last week on October 25 voted to recommend zoning, so this project is all but inevitable- and is slated to open in early 2024. The Council will likely go forward with full approval tomorrow, November 1.

Besides building a new complex FPC Live/Live Nation/Ticketmaster are attempting to attain through hostile tactics a monopoly of Milwaukee’s music scene, as it did in Madison, and will continue here the company’s long history of labor violations, wage theft, and sheer incompetence culminating is dangerously unsafe environments that put their workers and audience lives at risk.

One year ago today, I got the chance to go see Jack’s How Did We Get Here show in Milwaukee. It was still in its early stages, but I could already tell that it was going to change the lives of so many people, mine included. I’m so proud of you for how far you and the show have come. Thank you so much again for the amazing experience. It was an experience that I will truly never forget :)

To The Stage! Twin Peaks @ Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee, Wis.

Since seeing Twin Peaks on April 1st, I’ve been wondering where the jokes were. No opening band members in masks, or weird pop covers? But I’ve realized since that the boys of Twin Peaks don’t need orchestrated antics. Hilarity and rebelliousness just follow them everywhere.

Its nothing new to say that Twin Peaks puts on a wild show. The second the festivities began, the floor was moving in waves, which from the run down look of the ballroom, was a bit frightening. About five songs in, Turner Hall dispatched a group of highly ineffective security guards, 3 to an entire front row, with no barrier. Apparently crowd surfing and touching a stage with your hands is a highly punishable offense.

Once Clay informed the security that they were the worst and couldn’t stop the crowd from having a good time, several “boos” were shouted and one guard even left the scene!

The show closed with “Strawberry Smoothie”, and Jack and Clay invited everyone onstage for an extended instrumental encore. I tried my hardest to get up, but spent the whole time on my stomach, half on and off the stage like a stranded turtle.

This is why hundreds of kids all over the Midwest (and everywhere else!) sell out Twin Peaks shows and wait hours after for selfies and autographs. The whole show is a party, and it wouldn’t be a true TP show without both the ecstatic fans and fantastic music. Fancy concert halls and TV appearances are simply a means to an ends to connect with lovers of their music.
