#turtle hands

The first drawing I did using the new style I adopted recently. please excuse any spelling errors I did this quickly and never felt like redoing it due to how complicated it’d be. I really like how they came out. I forgot why I wanted to draw this but I think it was because I wanted to draw their claws and scares or Donnie’s Anyway.

Elaboration of the above: Leo: his claws grow quickly, and he has to trim them basically every other day. (Red eared sliders claws are long and grow very fast) -the scares he has are from general training and fighting, he also has burns from boiling water and the stove, possibly a few cuts from knifes. (Please Don’t let the boy in the kitchen). -Like Raph he has spikes on his knuckles tho their much smaller and duller then his brothers (more resembling the ones form when Raph was younger)

Raph: his claws grow just as fast as Leo’s for the same reason. tho he doesn’t trim them as much as he should weather that be because he forgets or doesn’t care to. (also he Enjoys using them as a tool, opening things clawing people ect) . -scares are once again from general training/fighting and spinning his Sais (you cannot tell me he hasn’t hurt himself by doing that). he probably has some electrical burns from punching electrical box’s and panels

Donnie: he has/had webbed fingers which he removed himself when he was 13. splinter was extremely mad at him (and worried if he was ok) -Surprisingly he has the most scares all of the brothers. their all from working in his lab, chemical burns electrical burns, hands slipping with something sharp, ect. -he basically has ‘normal’ nails.

Mikey: Mikey’s claws are in between the Twins and Donnie’s, they don’t grow as fast and aren’t naturally sharp, being more of a dull oval shape. -A lot of his hand scares are from cooking in the kitchen, knife cuts, burns. everything the kitchen can give ya he's got! -Since he was little he’s had trouble with his hand wrappings Leo typically helps/helped him so they tend to be lose and come undone. (eventually he just gets fingerless gloves) Slash: similar punching scares as Raph, his mace digs In causing calluses, he has others from random things as well. -His hands are wrapped haphazardly and he dose not care. -His claws don’t grow to fast nor dose he trim them (and for some reason this guys got retractable claws. . . yeah) By the way their names are drawn to match their signatures from an extra I found.

Okay, so I had a thought. Since the turtles only have 3 fingers per hand but still live in a world where many things still are in a base 10 systems (at least the counting system, but defo a bit more that I'm forgetting right now) what if they counted with their hands differntly.

Basically in some cultures you don't count one finger as one, but you rather count the digits of your fingers like this:

(Don't ask which culturs, I forgor)

So what if the turtles did something similar, either just so they can count farther and get to 12 with both hands,

or they count basically Tip of the index finger, Bottom of the indes finger, Tip of the pinky, Bottom of the pinky and then the thump as 5 (as far as I'm aware, you don't usually count the thump when you cound using the digits).

So, if they wanted to show, for example how many points they'd give someone for a stunt (like in 03's Meet Casey Jones) they'd point at the part of the finger, like:

Sorry, just a two

or Five!

and with both hands it would be a ten.

I think I got my point across, but I made some fotos of my hand to show all numbers under the cut (I was too lazy to draw it, also I want to work on my fic but had to get that out of my system)

Turtle hands and arms + Sai

Sometimes people come to me when they get stuck with their drawing. Today the topic was "how to hold a sai with three fingers". These are my quick explanatory sketches. Maybe they will be useful to someone else.
