I hate the last episode so much that there aren't even words for it. Who the hell is Jacob Anderson even playing now? Because it sure as hell isn't Louis😭. Season 1 and 2 Louis would have burned this doppelganger alive.
That bench scene... holy fuck. I slept on it, and I'm even angrier today. Remember when Louis and Lestat actually loved Claudia and were consumed by guilt? Now, apparently, they get over it five minutes after finding out their daughter has been suffering in hell for decades, then go on a cute park bench date, joke around, and talk about their relationship. I have no words.
The writers aren't even consistent within this season. If Louis suddenly doesn't give a shit that Claudia is apparently doomed to suffer for eternity, then what was the point of the entire Bruce, and then Regina storyline and his whole attempt to find closure??? After hearing something like that from your daughter, there is no such thing as closure. Anyone who truly loved her would spend the rest of their life trying to find a way to save her. Didn't it occur to them to hold another séance and try to reach Madeleine?
I genuinely cannot wrap my head around the fact that the writers of a show that was phenomenal for its first two seasons wrote something this bad.
Aside from that amazing Claudia scene, it was total garbage. And I'm mostly talking about Delainey's incredible performance and the fact that they actually let Claudia be hateful and furious because no one has earned the right to those emotions more than she has. But even here, all the nuance of the Claudia-Louis and Claudia-Lestat relationships suddenly vanished.
And then there's the ending with Daniel (Louis' friend 5 minutes ago) showing up for the beheading. Cool. So characters don't need motivations anymore. They just do whatever the writers think will be the most shocking.
Emotional impact? Impossible choices and living with the consequences? They don't know her.
