Me explaining 5x06 to my friend: Okay so what happened was it's told in the past of the past... like the past isn't really the present since Lydia in Eichen is the true present... she's not in the future. This is all being told from her perspective in the so called "future" but always remember it's present, passed and now it's goes more past then it already is of past. I don't know what the fuck I was on when I texted her this because now I'm mother fucking confused

“Genotype” TW 6x18 and “Required Reading” TW 5x06

It’s the sort of thing that makes you ask yourself “Did they plan this?  Or did the first thing inspire the second?”

Because one of the things that bothered me when I first watched “Required Reading” is that, when Liam brings Scott his inhaler, Mrs. Finch is standing in a position which meant that she had to see Liam’s eyes when he gets Scott to use it.   Originally, I just put it down as a blocking problem or a sign of the denial of Beacon Hills residents.

But now, she had to know that Liam was a beta and that Scott was probably his alpha.  

Was that always planned?  Or did they notice it as well and it inspired that story?

Why did I feel like I was also having a breathing problem when I rewatch Scott’ asthma attack scene??

I have a theory and it's probably a long shot but do you think that Claudia Stilinski could have been one of the doctors experiments that failed like some of the others? The description for the next episode states "Scott and his friends follow Dr. Valack’s advice and experience strange effects as a result. " So they're all going to read the books and reading the books helps you remember the doctors. So Stiles sees Claudia? Also on Claudia's hospital document it says..(C)

So I’m answering this after I’ve seen the episode, because of holiday mode and a general lack of tumblr time lately.

I’ve previously said Stiles symptoms in 3b and what was described for Claudia did sound similar. And I’ve also pointed out the parallels between Tracey and Stiles as well, so with this in mind I think your theory is possible. 

We know that the doctors had been there before, and perhaps Claudia had been an experiment. What sort of goes against it though is that Valack said they went after teenagers. And Claudia is not a teenager and seems too old for the experiments. Unless it happened years ago - but would that make her a successful case? the doctors are killing off all the failures this time around at any rate. 

Or are they seeing this visions because the people in it are the dread doctors. In that case the desert wolf, claudia and Lorraine are the doctors. It would be awfully cool, but I don’t really think so. 

I did ramble a bit about the visions already in this post, and what I suggest is that reading the book doesn’t open your eyes so that you’ll see the doctors or memories of them, but rather that it reveals the reader to the doctor. If so the visions all seem to take a childhood memory and twist it into something they fear. 

Stiles is revisited by what we already knows he fears, that he killed his mother and that his dad also thinks so. Malia sees the desert wolf cause the accident that killed her adoptive family - this might be true, or it’s a manifestation of Malia’s fear that her parents are both manic killers and she’s doomed to turn out just like them. Lydia sees her grandmother and trepanation, and fears she’ll end up like her, crazy and in Eichen House. And Scott is paralyzed and unable to help and act, to save his friends. This is his mission statement and promise. 

I might be totally off and making things way too complicated. It wouldn’t be the first time :)  All I know is that we know Tracey read the book - but did she read it after the experiments started and is that why she started remembering her night terrors? - Or did reading the book reveal her as a fitting candidate?
