I need a continuation of the sick bird villain being saved by hero
Don't we all, though? 😂😂 Also I'm changing the names to Mercer for Hero and Raven for Villain because of plot ideas that don't work so good with generic titles. Both characters are still gender neutral
Continued from here
CW: Sickness, allergies, discussion of past trauma (being sold, forced dependence)
"Drink this." Mercer handed Raven a bowl of something warm.
Raven took it gratefully and drank. It tasted good and it made them feel warm on the inside. "What... what is it..?"
"It has your medicine in it. It's how the doctor told me to give it to you." Mercer said, sitting on the bed next to Raven. "You should start getting better soon. You'll probably feel quite a bit better by tomorrow even."
"I... don't want to get you sick..."
"Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. If I start getting sick, I'll see a doctor so they can begin treating it early."
Raven nodded softly. "O-okay..."
"So... do you have a name other than Raven? Is that the name your parents gave you?"
"... I never knew my parents... I was... sold to the circus as a young child... They never gave me a name other than Raven..." Raven had their eyes locked onto the bowl, not meeting Mercer's gaze. "I-it's okay though... I don't mind..."
Mercer didn't know what to say to that, so they decided to change the topic. "So... what do you eat..? Like... bird stuff, or human stuff..?"
"Kind of both..." Raven glanced up at Mercer. "I can eat most things that humans eat, except for a few and I have to be careful about how much sodium and sugar I have..."
"So, like, what foods can't you eat then?"
"Um... I can't have avocado, chives, mushrooms, onions, leeks, rhubarb, chocolate, caffeine, or cheese. I... think that's about all though... As long I make sure whateverit is doesn't have a lot of sodium or sugar..." Raven finished drinking from the bowl. "I'm also really allergic to most artificial fragrance..."
Mercer nodded, taking a mental note. "Okay. I'll make sure to keep those things out of the house then."
"Are... you planning on keeping me..?"
Mercer glanced at Raven's face to gauge their reaction. They looked hopeful. "Well... not really. I mean, I'd love for you to stay here as long as you want, but you can leave whenever you want to. I mean... you seem functionally independent, but if you're not, of course you can stay with me. Are you..?"
Raven looked down at their hands, shrinking a bit. "I... I don't know... I've never been allowed to be independent..."
Mercer offered a smile as they took the empty bowl. "That's okay. You don't have to figure it out yet. Like I said, you're welcome to stay here for as long as you want." Mercer got up and went to the kitchen, placing the bowl in the sink before returning.
"How old are you?" They asked as they rounded the corner. But Raven had fallen asleep. Mercer smiled softly, picking up a blanket from the back of an armchair and covering Raven. "Sleep well..."
