(TW: Severe allergic reaction mentioned)
Kristy here. Be. So. Fucking careful if you have any kind of reactions to anything you eat. Even if it’s just like a little tingle in your mouth or a sniffle. We used to have the tiniest reaction of our tongue swelling just a bit from pineapple. The other night, we had some in a can for our work lunch. What followed was our allergy rocketing out of control.
Our legs swelled. We were sniffling and coughing just a bit more. Next morning, we felt like we had Covid. We figured that was it, as we’d recently had Covid exposure. Poor Lestat who is the most connected to the body even if he isn’t fronting was wheezing and coughing in-sys. With him in the fronting alcove so I could rub his back and keep an eye on him, I got us to the urgent care.
Everything came back negative. We were having a pretty severe allergic reaction. We got a shot, got prescribed allergy meds, and were told to get to a GP and an allergy specialist as soon as possible- Something we are extremely fortunate to be able to do since we have health insurance through our job.
Pineapple is in fucking everything. We still feel fairly miserable, but have an upcoming appointment underway. My poor love has been coughing so much his voice has gone hoarse in-sys. He’s still gasping and wheezing from time to time.
We’ve taken literally everything we can safely take.
If you have any kind of allergies, watch yourself. Please. Double check all of your food labels. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
