Hi, maybe this is a dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyways. I'm not sure if you've already covered this, so if you have just ignore me. After the publication of your books, will you go back to fics? If you do, and this series your working on takes off, will you write fics for it? I suppose they wouldn't really be fanfiction because you're the author of them, but regardless. Are there any Henry or Blossom x readers we should be anticipating? Or will you instead leave it to the fans to create those works? Again, a rather silly assortment of questions but I'm just curious. Have a wonderful day ;D
Hi there! That's not a silly question at all, and it's something I've thought about frequently, where my work in fanfiction starts, ends and how that relates to my original work as an author. I'm all for fanfiction and think it's a lovely way to build community and share passions over characters and connect to others (obviously), because my philosophy is that when you create something, it's no longer yours once people interact with it, art, film, writing, people take in and experience things so differently and bring their own things to it that as an original creator instead of shutting that down and shaming that, you can uplift and partake in that joy and or criticism, growing with your fanbase as opposed to holding yourself above them or people just loving your work or finding it so interesting they want to talk about and share it with others (I can't imagine viewing fandom and fan activities as a negative when we're literally the ones keeping the industry alive and paying for creator's paychecks interacting with their work but whatever!) so when it comes to my original work, I actively encourage any fan-related creations (as long as proper credit is due of course) including writing, art, edits (moodboards, gifs, etc) and discussion. That being said, I am the author so the thing is, how would it be "fan" fiction, "fan" art, and not just original work or material for the canon storyline or other explorations that I may endeavor in? I've wanted to write fanfiction, trust me, I've wanted to just write the characters in an x reader scenario for shits and giggles and just be Horny and fluff up the material, but at the end of the day, it just feels kind of weird and then like... Not that it's a waste per say but any ideas I get for the characters I'm like. Why don't I just put this in the book? Nothing I write for the characters will not... NOT be canon. And it's my responsibility as the creator of this world to honor that, and honor them. As for other fanfiction writing concerning slashers, I don't think I will be taking requests and writing for free anymore since my books are my main priority and I don't plan on stopping writing original books for the foreseeable future (I have two more in motion after ATLBB that are tied into the same TWDA timeline and a couple more ideas that I'm toying around with that are related) but that doesn't mean, as I demonstrated earlier this month with the few Herbert fics I posted, that I won't get an itch and scratch it. If you know what I mean 👀-- I haven't decided whether or not I will continue taking commissions in the future, though it is something I'm up for doing because I am getting paid for my time.
Now, as for any x readers concerning my characters you should be HIGHLY anticipating, I know that Bex over at @bisexual-horror-fan has a couple of Henry fics already planned to delve into with a very special occasion coming up soon 😗 and maybe a poly henry x reader x blossom one, and that @my-horror-slasher-ocs intends to draw fanart once they finish reading Blossom! My brother has also drawn some pieces for Blossom including this very relatable Henry one and a concept painting for a scene in ATLBB (you can find him here @disiridium but he posts more on Instagram, the same handle. Click here. He's really fucking good--posts horror mostly; creature/fantasy design but also his studies and daily practices).
So, in conclusion, if you have an idea for my characters, write it! Have fun with it, it can be short, long, a blurb, a rambling of an idea, a half-question half blurb, a list of headcanons, it can be anything, just go for it! If you have an idea for a painting or drawing, share it! I wrote this book in this community, and with sharing it every step of the way, it makes my heart BURST just at the idea of people wanting to spend more time with the material. Even seeing others' annotations and answering questions or getting reactions makes me so so so fucking happy. Seriously. It makes it all worth it.
