Hey! So. Shit went down and I need help.

Rian is a transnonbinary living in Southern California’s High Desert with their service dog. Since their trailer was repo’ed in June, they’ve been sharing space with saddles in their friend’s tack shed while job hunting. The shed’s roof was damaged by Hurricane/Tropical Storm Hilary, causing significant leaks and the sheetrock to begin collapsing onto Rian’s bed.

After inspection, the tack shed will be entirely uninhabitable during the winter months due no heat, no plumbing, and leaks in more places than just the roof. Miraculously, Rian has been gifted a corner of the property to place their own shed, but they are in desperate need of financial assistance and are now on a time crunch facing the incoming winter weather. They need a solid roof over their head in an insulated building that will withstand the Santa Ana and Cajon Pass winds.

"Things We Don't Tell Humans" UPDATE!

The final edit and re-upload of chapters begins today!

And releasing next week is the first chapter of:

The Podfic Edition

This is really happening! I'm finally bringing TWDTH to the final stage of production that I've been dreaming about since 2014. I have always been focused on trying to make the experience of the AU that I built to as many people as possible, and I didn't want folks to rely upon a soulless screenreader's voice.

How will I make this happen?

I'll be hosting the podfic on my own website, the Bog Swan Cafe, as a membership-based release with zero ads. One month later, I'll release it with ad breaks to public platforms. Behind the membership paywall will all be ad-free content, including bonus materials such as monthly blooper reels, excerpts from the notes I use to keep the timeline and story elements cohesive, deleted scenes, and so much more!

Remember that old fic I was writing called "Things We Don't Tell Humans?" Well, I've been rereading it. It's time to finish the story.

WTF.

Okay, I get it. You’ve read my 350k monster of a fic. That’s a lot of fucking chapters, and I’m really impressed. I don’t even want to reread that thing most of the time. And I get that you don’t have anything beyond Chapter 75, posted on Febuary 25, 2017. Mind you, that was a really hard chapter for me to grind out because it fought me every step of the way.

But if I haven’t posted a chapter in over a fucking year, don’t fucking review it with the following:

Holy fucking shit, I can’t even begin to tell you how much this bothers me. The fic Things We Don’t Tell Humans was started back in 2011, when my uncle died and I needed something to distract myself from the pain. I’m no longer active in the Transformers fandom because I got burnt out on the drama and the gatekeeping bullshit. I’m dealing with the death of my grandmother and my father, both on the same goddamned side. I’ve been dealing with the death of my aunt from my mother’s side. I’m trying to keep my head above water, and it’s not an easy thing to do when depression is being a clingy cunt. I’ve been using the Star Trek universe as my mental jungle gym while I try to keep myself smiling and finding something to enjoy.

Great fic! So glad you saved Jazz and Ironhide. So their worries are a lead up to age of extinction? Poor Sam and Carly having to forget for a while. Interesting that Mearing was trying to protect Sam keeping him away but maybe she should have thought and realised there was a deeper reason the autobots wanted him close? This right fucking here hits all the ways that you can encourage an author. It shows that you read the fic, that you respect the whole 350k bulk of the fic, that you’re thinking critically about the fic, and that you’re not pressuring me to update the fic. Will it be completed? Hopefully. I love it and it’s my baby, but it’s also hard to pick up the strings from where I laid them down.

TL;DR: Give me a good review and not a one word-demand for a fic to be updated.

Any news on twdth? Or do I just go reread it for the fiftieth time and wait?

You may have to wait a little while longer. Part of me wants to get back into the muse of TWDTH, but at the same time, I’ve been writing in the Transformers fandom since I was 12 years old. So I’m a little weary of the universe, and of certain expectations that some readers have had of me in the past. (Wanting me to write faster, wanting me to write summaries of the last few chapters, wanting me to write a certain ship, or to kill/save a specific character, wanting me to not write happy endings for everyone. Like seriously. If someone wants those kinds of stories, fucking write them yourself.)

It is a goal of mine to finish writing TWDTH, but there’s no knowing when that is going to happen. I’ve seen both amazing and awful sides of the Transformers fandom, and it’s kinda burned me out over the years. So for now, I’m writing for Star Trek, and I’m really enjoying that stretch of my creative muscles. New universe, new rules, new ships, lots of gay, lots of history. It’s truly a delightful playground for me.
