Sometimes it seems to Chuck like he was never really happy before he met Yancy-- but the sense of peace and contentment, and the way he finally feels like he doesn't have to fill every spare moment with idle chatter or nonsense was worth the wait.

“We just have to wait until the next life.”

              "----Suppose we will, huh."

       ( it's not the worst good bye he's ever made, maybe. knowing yance is always gonna be there. they'll always find each other-- every life. chuck hansen's bones know yancy becket's-- intimately. there is no other place in the world-- the universe-- that feels more like home. it's almost beautiful-- the twisting, winging places their souls travel to, only to come back-- to wind up right here, again. )

"You're the one person I actually trust."

    A slow-burn smile starts to blossom on his face and heat creeps up from his stomach to his neck. Yancy still hasn't noticed the paint smudged on his cheek-- and Chuck knows he's covered in paint himself-- smears of ocean blue all over them both.

              "Hey," he says, nudging Yance in the shoulder with a bare foot. Yancy's fiddling with some child-proof improvement for something or other-- Chuck leaves that kind of thing to him. "----Y'know I trust you too, right?"

    There's only so many people in the world that could uproot Chuck Hansen and plant them in fucking Alaska and make him grow up and be a real person. Actually-- there's only one person that could do that. The man crouched on the floor. Chuck can see the hint of ink behind Yancy's ear and-- 

    Maybe they've been kind of harsh on each other lately but he's being reminded all over again that Yancy is his soulmate. Pure and simple. As always.

              "Twenty five lives, yeah?"

so when yancy gets home and yells 'chuck i'm home' the dog and the person come skidding out of wherever the fuck they are and tackle him

'I want the K'

1: Hot, Steamy kiss

It's just one of those things. The inevitability of their mouths coming together. Over and over and over. Chuck loves Yancy in the space between heartbeats-- the same space he feels like they fell in love. He loves Yancy in his bones, in his blood, in some way he can't even begin to explain. 

There's never going to be a time he doesn't want to kiss Yancy Becket.

He curls his fingers in the collar of Yancy's shirt-- one of the ones he's sure Yance has had to steal back from him countless times, soft grey and green flannel worn around the elbows-- and leans forward to catch Yancy's lower lip between his own. 

Satisfied with the gasp he's drawn from Yance, he lets out a tiny laugh and grinds his hips down, holding just a little bit tighter to the collar of that flannel. He traces the outline of Yancy's lips with his tongue, taste of cigarette smoke and the soda he wished his husband wouldn't drink singing sweet over the taste that's purely Yancy's own. 

Fingers squeeze his hips and he leans in close, chest to chest. There's nowhere in the world he'd rather be.

✺ for our muses being snowed in together

It's not the first time Chuck's seen snow in his life but it's the first time Yancy looked out the window and shook his head and declared that there was no way they were going anywhere. It's not like they went places all the time. Grocery shopping or out to eat or something. The thought of staying inside, though-- 

It makes him a little panicky.

"What, exactly, are we supposed to do?" Chuck asks, sitting up and staring out the window. Snow. How did he end up in a place so cold.

"Whatever we want, actually," Yancy says with a laugh. He puts his hands on the bed for balance as he leans over to steal a kiss. Oh. Right. Here's the reason. All six feet and one inch of him.

"I just kinda want to dump whiskey in my coffee and call it a day." He refuses to even leave the bed. The cold fucks with his bad joints, makes it hard to walk. He pulls the blanket-- the fluffy one, the 'good' one-- off the end of the bed and wraps it in around his shoulders.

"I could bake something," Yancy offers.

"Not yet."

He tugs Yance in closer. 

"Stay here for a while?" he asks. "For my first Alaskan snow-in?"

Yance smiles at him. "Sure. Anything."

"But then I want whiskey in my coffee."

"Of course, babe."
