“You said what I was thinking.” Duster mutters, taking a step back towards Lucas. Kumatora is being rather... liberal with practicing her fire PSI today, and the likeliness that she’s going to burn the house down? It seems high. Well, the thief definitely doesn’t want to be here when it happens.
He puts a hand on Lucas’ shoulder, turning away from the pink haired princess’s mischief. “Why don’t we... go somewhere else.” Maybe they can use this as an excuse make it a guys day, just the two of them.

📢 - Does your muse have a loud personality or a quiet one? Do they enjoy being the center of attention, or would they rather watch and listen?
All in all, Duster’s a pretty quiet person. A childhood of abuse, and an adolescence filled with being considered the local “weird guy” doesn’t exactly do a lot for your social skills, especially when the only time you’re awake is when half the village is asleep. That isn’t to say he’s not happy to talk when given the chance, but in Tazmily, he rarely ever had that chance. The man barely even spoke up for himself when Wess insulted him!
He was also trained in the art of thievery, and therefore, secrecy. He’s quiet down to his footsteps!
In the DCMC, he was given ample space to speak, people actually cared about his opinion, and heard him out. This made him much more talkative, and he was happy to weigh in on a lot of the situations that he faced with Lucas and Kumatora.
He doesn’t like being the center of attention to be sure; even on stage he liked being off to the side, still in sight but far from the focal point.
Duster’s a subtle guy, and I feel that it shows best in the choice of his preferred instrument, the bass.
📊 - How does your muse feel about the state of the world? Could it be better? Could it be worse?
If we’re talking about Duster during the story... As he was a part of DCMC for three years, and as a result, lived in a modern setting during that time, the way some things work don’t bother him quite as much as they would, say, Lucas.
He loves the food Club Titiboo serves, he enjoys the convenience of having easy access to things such as delivery services, is fascinated by the technology behind music, and thinks that humans can create some amazing infrastructure.
... That isn’t to say he loves all of it, of course.
He thinks low class workers should be treated better, he doesn’t like how all the girls of Club Titiboo are treated, he dislikes how construction has to take down so much of nature, and he doesn’t get why money is so important. Why can’t people just be happy with what they have? What’s wrong with getting by with just enough?
When he got his memories back, he saw the full scale of how corrupt the islands were becoming, and found himself glad that he wound up with a group like the DCMC, instead of the Pigmasks.
So, while there are aspects of a modern world that he enjoys and indulges in, he absolutely does not want to see it grow out of proportion like the Pigmasks wanted. New Pork City made him feel a little ill, at how fake and self-absorbed it all was.

i think people just don’t seem to realize why paper mario has been getting as much heat as it has lately, all while simultaneously not appreciating what good the series has been doing with its new direction.
the thing about modern paper mario is that i liken it largely to super paper mario (minus sticker star, i think, given that one’s almost universally hated). it’s the same paper mario charm, but it is consistently trying to provide different playstyles. i don’t think that’s a bad thing. color splash was apparently alright, and i’ve heard only the greatest things about origami king. people need to... relax when it comes to things that aren’t just like the good old days. i say this as someone whose favorite paper mario game is 64. people just... take it way too far.
with that said, i understand the reason behind a good chunk of the upset, even if it’s all handled very poorly. the mario rpgs as a whole are... generally dead. smrpg was a one-off that nintendo and square likely won’t care to revisit beyond porting the snes game on occasion. paper mario is no longer an rpg series. mario & luigi is, until further notice, dead with alphadream, and even if nintendo themselves develop that series, will it even be as creative and charming as it was under a second party (given their mandates and tendency to ‘play it safe’)?
needless to say, there’s not much of any future for the mario rpgs in sight. the most that we might get, funnily enough, is super mario rpg content, that being a port of the original on NSO (or a direct port otherwise, given square’s been doing that with their games instead of NSO). the fact that the mario rpg that’s been sidelined the most may be the biggest amount of mario rpg content we’ll get is... really sad. i doubt we’ll get much more n64 content on the switch, and nintendo has this tendency to try to bury the thousand-year door more than celebrate it. the mario & luigi series were primarily handheld games, and without massive revamps, i can’t see those games getting put on the switch (especially the ds ones that require dual-screen touch controls). as for new ones... the hopes are very bleak.
i honestly feel for both sides. as someone who sees the good in modern paper mario and sees how terribly those fans get treated, it sucks. as someone who loves the good ol’ mario rpgs, it sucks. it sucks all around for everyone in some way or another. this is less mega salty and more just... sad tbh. shruggy.
Starter for @twinsmily!
To say Lucas enjoyed his brother’s company and ideas was an understatement. At school was no different. Often he would listen to, what other people would describe as, terrible ideas from his brother. The worst part? Lucas, who in other situations would perhaps be a calm bystander, shared this affinity with his brother. Coupled together, their minds could come up with anything.
However, this... if it’s giving even Lucas pause for thought, perhaps it was an idea for trouble even he could see coming from miles away.
“Claus, I’m with you all the way on this... but I dunno if we should be doing this in school hours?” Oh no, Lucas wouldn’t stop despite his protests... he just needs reassurance, that’s all. Some strong reassurance from his stupider more crafty sibling that yes, this was a brilliant idea and no, they wouldn’t get into catastrophic trouble.
Even if that were to be absolutely false.

🍓 : how is my muse typically seen by others? does it ring true to who they really are? does their reputation matter to them?
Good sir, this is a can of worms that is very interesting to discuss.
Anyone outside of his platoon, family or friend circle knows this frog is a complete J O K E. He’s a clown, mailing it in 95% of the time when it comes to the invasion. There are plenty of reasons for that but the jist of it is that he has a burnout on being an invader. Everyone in that close radar knows this platoon leader just isn’t up for the challenge ( unless something pisses him off enough to actually go for it. None of it ever works ).
People who only know him from the sidelines or passing conversation know him for his “Back Then” self. That, being gestured to the yellow star on his belly. He’s very popular back on his planet, even as a child, everyone liked him or at the very least knew who he was. Those times he was full of spunk to low sweep any planet off it’s feet for the sake of keron. Keroro ended up on a lot of news, posters and now even has his own TV show that broadcasts his invasion to the citizens on keron. Er....Though exaggerates the truth A LOT. A LOT A LOT.
Everyone sees him as a very heroic keronion back on his planet. Everything described about him is from the influence of the star. . .or as shown in the Kero Zero episodes, just pure luck that he saved the day. Like any celebrity ; the more you know them personally, the more they become a disappointment. That’s why they say “Don’t meet your heroes.”
Tamama can testify for this.
🥝 : does my muse have any ‘ unusual ’ habits, interests, and / or talents? do they hide it, or are they proud of it?
Well, being an alien on a foreign planet, anything he does is unusual.
He has a habit of saying “gero” ( Japanese sound for a frog ribbiting ) or “de arimasu” ( yessir ) as his verbal tic. The geros being his stim word whilst the other one he just picked up from military practice. Those are the most notable things he has if someone is to ever ask about his way of speech.
He indulges in building Gunpla too. Other than Saburo, everyone in the series has no interest with Kero messing with them. Often times its really annoying watching that hobby get in the way. More so how he blows all the platoon’s invasion funds to buy them. Credit where credit is due though, he’s very good and fast at building these lil suckers. Very informative too.
And besides his crazy good skills in sports, he actually knows how to play the piano! He doesn’t talk about it much. I think this is kept secret since he only uses it whenever feeling venerable with his emotions. Taking away his comfort would D E S T O R Y him. I wouldn’t call this an “unusual” talent, but it might be out of place to ever witness him using it.
Uh. . .apparently he can spin 3 pencils at once on his fingers and foot??? Thats neat.

❝ I promise nothing bad’s gonna happen. ❞ Lucas speaks gently, urging Claus with a soft, knowing smile. But he would be lying if he said he didn’t feel a little bit selfish. He’ll wait as long as he needs to for his brother to readjust, of course, but a small part of him — no matter how much Lucas tries to silence it — just wants to play with Claus and Boney like they all used to.
Still, Claus’s comfort is much more important to him, more so than anything else. Lucas will nudge him gently in the right direction, but if now isn’t the time to do this, he’s perfectly content waiting longer if that’s what Claus needs.
❝ I’m just worried about you stayin’ all cooped up in here most of the day, is all. It’s alright if you don’t wanna stay out all that long, I just feel like it might be good to get some fresh air. Me ‘n’ Boney’ll stick right by ya. ❞

To say Claus was embarrassed was an understatement. He knew he was being childish, ridiculous, and in all honesty he wanted to continue hiding himself in bed for the rest of eternity. But he knew he couldn’t, this wasn’t something he could run from like everything else, and for once the fear and shame that came with showing his emotions was overtaken by distress.
“I-I...I-I”
The hand smoothing his hair does bring some comfort, helps bring at least some ease to the younger’s racing heart and mind. And when Lucas looks down at him and speaks to him in such a soft and calm voice he can’t help but look downwards like a guilt ridden child that had been caught doing something he shouldn’t have been doing.
“I-I-I-I don’t-- I don’t know what to do--”
Are the first words that slip past his mouth. Mismatched eyes pinch shut as he attempts to weave together a sentence that can actually explain what’s going on without making him look like....well, to put it bluntly, a total moron.
“I-I think-- I uh-- I--”
He swallowed hard, taking a breath. Part of him wanted to cling to the older, to hide his face in the other’s shirt and blubber about what it was that was troubling him, but no matter how distressed he was he still had at least some self restraint.
“I-I-I like someone and I think they like me back and I don’t know what to do!”
The words were practically yelled, Claus finally letting go of Lucas to instead hide his face in his hands.
“h-h-heee-- he k-kissed me an-and I-- I don’t know--! I-I’m just-- I’m lost and my heart won’t stop--”
The more he spoke the more he seemed to shrink in on himself, too ashamed to even look at Lucas.
“heeeeelp...”
He finally whimpered.
