There aren’t any tutorials showing how to do a twisted rib in the double knitting technique, so I thought I’d show it off.

It’s a little bit tricky because of the weird colour control, but as long as you follow the pattern & remember to split the yarn colours on the second set of stitches you can easily fall into a nice rhythm.

After making a small gift with this yarn, I had enough left to knit a pair of ankle socks. No attempt to match; just knit as yarn came off skein. I really love working this pattern.

fun story: when i needed to learn how to ktbl (through the back loop) for a pattern, i was REALLY confused because i could not tell what they were doing differently in any videos, and it turned out i had been knitting tbl all along! I actually had to learn how to knit ‘normally’ (through the front loop) once i figured that out! i’m still much more comfortable knitting tbl : )

I've almost finished the first of two pattern repeats on the leg of this sock! Why do I choose patterns with twisted ribbing?!? WHYYYYY?!?

Knitting a Selbu Modern with Knit Picks Palette in Hazelnut and Caribbean, what do you think? The brown will be the main colour and the blue (which is  slightly more green irl) is the accent colour. I'm fairly excited about it... However 128 sts twisted rib on 2mm Harmony needles is taking FOREVER, this hat may not get past the ribbing.

Directions:

multiples of 4

row 1: K2, P2 to end

row 2: Repeat row 1

row 3: yo, ssk, P2; repeat till end

row 4: Repeat row 1

One of my favorite things to knit are cowls because they are so easy to throw on with anything and layer it up. I made an over-sized cowl in the twisted rib, which has been perfect for this weirdo warm/cold weather we are having here in Brooklyn.
