It makes sense that many of our most cherished rabbis and torah scholars in the past where physicians.

Both require years of study, listening to people and logical thinking, also you generally want both to have the highest morals.

The lack of centralization of Judaism means that rabbis needed to be financially supported, either by relatives or a side job.

The consequence is we get fun bits like the Talmuds story of two kidneys.

why are you guys acting like this two kidney thing is new news? A while back he said that he was lying about only having one kidney because he didn't want to be made fun of for not drinking or something like that.
