Dent/Nygma… they’re so perfect they are young protégés in their respect fields and their mental illnesses and traumas compliment each other

There are less than a handful of fics for them in the Gotham tv fandom and they’re mostly all. bad. bc they use the ‘Harvey has anger issues and is big n strong n would theirfore not have any control over himself’ logic. Which.. No?

Bc while, yes, Harvey DOES have anger issues and is def more physically fit than ed, that doesn’t mean abuse is the only possible outcome, he’s not slamming him into any walls over spilled coffee

I would actually go far as to argue that Harvey having these traits is The Whole Point

Operating on General dc lore here but- Ed’s dad fucked him up. That man had anger issues. That situation was half blamed on Ed provoking said anger issues by doing what, who knows. breathing? it “wasn’t his dads fault” so no one ever stepped in the implication from the other adults around (without anger issues) not disagreeing with his dad is. Not fun.

Then you have Harvey

Living loving proof that it was in fact not Ed’s fault and even with an anger problem most people can control themselves perfectly fine when it comes to their partner or child

It’s Healing

Ed is a direct opposite of how Harvey was raised too, he pays attention and puts in effort and thinks Harv is worth effort and just- They Are Mutually Healing And Proof That Their Pasts Were Wrong

I would argue that it’s a very significant contrast and half the appeal

I’m still on my twoface/riddler soapbox. So many people are missing out on such a good dynamic, more people need to ship them

Harvey is very strong and physically bigger than Ed, yes, this is true but this doesn’t inherently mean abuse, no, it means potential

It is actually such a problem that like 80% of twoface/riddler fics make Harvey abusive I hate it

Toxic ships are GREAT, don’t get me wrong but come on guys. It’s not even usually well written. It always infatalizes Ed and dehumanizes Harvey. It’s always a wattpad quality jekyl and hyde thing that makes Harvey evil just bc he’s plural and just- He has basic control of himself. He’s not an animal. Anger issues don’t cancel that out.
