i cant believe theres an episode of txf where a shapeshifter shapshifts into mulder and gets inches away from kissing scully before the real mulder bursts in on them about to kiss and we dont get a scene of mulder going 'so you were going to let him as me kiss you' and scully going 'i was very drunk, mulder, it is not unusually to get caught up in the moment in a situation like that'

actually i can believe it because this is the x files and even when they write EXTREMELY MSR stuff like this they wouldnt dare to have the characters actually talk about it

what i actually cant believe isnt that scully didnt notice how extremely different mulder was acting. they had been around each other for at least like 10+ hours total by the time real mulder arrived and I mean he spelled FBI wrong. like. and the deep ass convo like scully wouldnt notice anything wrong? please. she is way smarter than that

the cancer arc missed out on so many opportunities, but one that really bothers me is that we never got mulder wiping blood off her face. can you imagine the parallel of him reaching out with a napkin in red museum to clean up a speck of sauce vs him in season 4 reaching out with a tissue because she got another nosebleed?

soft, flirty smile replaced by a mutually shared grief, followed by scully taking the tissue from his hand and walking away to take care of it herself. the kind of small gesture mulder cannot help but repeat over and over again, begging the universe not to rip her away from him.

scully, staring at herself in the mirror, so close to collapsing every single time he touches her, unable to decide whether she wants it to end tomorrow or never at all.
