I got most of these (after the RWS) when I last quit smoking a couple years ago (think I made it five years) as a deal with myself - I could spend my cigarette budget on indie tarot decks. I started up again but it was a good incentive at the time. (Update: Quit again may 2026)
I have also traded and given decks away so there are more that I’ve had and lost, but this is my current collection of 27 31 tarot decks (I’ll make a separate post for oracle and misc decks). I also tried to get these in a way that corresponded to the majors order to help limit my spending but it got pretty neurotic with swapping out deck positions and stuff so I’ve stopped worrying about that as much. It kinda helps me remember my collection though.
Adding a read more coz on desktop the pics make it a long post.
I put in parentheses the year I got them in, more or less. I added pictures and I'll update with links to other posts if I ever do deck reviews. I’ll also update this post and title if I get new decks.
Nine of swords is about anxiety, panic attacks, nightmares, being caught in thought loops and spiraling out. I’ve seen some positive depictions where a person reaches for one of the swords above their heads to take control of the situation and I’m sometimes confused on how that helps though I’m inspired by it. Maybe by managing down one fear at a time, or addressing your unhelpful thoughts by taking one and flipping the script CBT-style and that empowers you to take back control of your mind.
Let’s look at the Numinous tarot’s guidebook.
It talks about feeling lost, hopeless, and overwhelmed. It says we must acknowledge our difficult experiences and to sit with them and not be afraid to ask for help. The reversed meaning talks about making mountains out of molehills and exaggerating a situation that isn’t that bad but our fears have a hold of us and asks us to release it.
Lets look at learntarot.
It talks about worrying, going over an issue over and over again, wondering if we’ve done enough, and doubting it’ll go well. It also talks about guilt and anguish but that doesn’t seem as relevant here.
Let’s look at esotericmeanings.
It talks about emotional self harm through self destructive thoughts and if you abuse and denigrate yourself you are being your own worst enemy because you know all your weak spots best. The affirmations are “I love and accept myself as i am” and “I trust in the natural flow of life in bringing me all that will support me.”
I guess to interpret it I need to stop worrying and encourage myself that I can tackle math even when I’m going over a problem over and over again and getting stuck and overwhelmed. When I last left off in khan academy the video hadn’t prepared us for the questions properly and I kept getting the answers wrong even after going through the questions twice.
I should rely on others to help me like maybe in the comment section or by googling the type of problem I am solving instead of ruminating on the same problem and not feeling capable enough. I can also move on from the module and return to it later just so that I don’t get stuck and put learning altogether off for weeks like I already have been.
At the same time I oughta be more gentle to myself because math has historically been a struggle spot for me. If I notice myself getting tense and spiraling I oughta take breaks or address my thoughts in a healthy manner. I’m not in school right now, so approaching math like a fun puzzle is best! Also thoughts like “I can never do this” and “this is impossible” oughta be countered with thoughts like “have I considered approaching this from a different angle?” or “i can do all things through aged cheddar which strengthens me.”
Ok that’s good for now.
edit: the tyldwick has small portraits on the court cards but this is the only card that has a full human figure! I always wonder about that.
I’m so proud of myself for doing a tarot reading after so long! 😁 And I’m even more excited because the next deck is one of my most favorite and prized decks: the Tyldwick tarot. I hope the camera gets an ok picture of it since the card images can be a little “muddied” looking and hard to make out if you aren’t used to them. Part of its charm.
Tarot collectors may be familiar with the Malpertuis Designs site. The creator had several Tarot and Lenormand style decks up for sale.
Unfortunately, I ran across this news today, which others may not have heard. I am quoting a post I found on the Tarot Collectors Forum, a site I’ve been a member of for ten years. One of the more senior members, “Gregory” posted this back in November, but I…
I ordered the Tyldwick Tarot from Malpertuis Designs in late December and I am so grabby hands about it. I keep stalking the website and staring at the cards--I’m having such a difficult time being patient! I’ve been going kind of hard buying new decks but it’s like something forcefully compelled me to pick this one up. I couldn’t resist! A lot of the decks I have are more modern looking--Cosmos, the Wooden Tarot, the Linestrider, the Wild Unknown--and while this one isn’t a traditional tarot deck, it does have a very historical feel to it that will definitely be a new element for me. I can’t wait to work with it and see what it’s like!
Sorting the decks today (this is just the tarot decks). A few are going to be weeded out - namely my Tyldwick tarot, Nostradamus tarot, and Mibramig tarot. A few of my oracle/crystal decks will be going too. Hoping to have mostly decks that I use somewhat regularly. So maybe a giveaway or two coming up?? (Just fyi, the Tyldwick will probably be sold, it cost me a ton when I got it)
