El Chupacabra, the vampiric predator. Originating from Puerto Rico after a multitude of reports detailed a mass killing of livestock, at first the killings were attributed to cult activities, but after more information was released on the case reporting that livestock had their blood removed with circular wounds, the public labeled the perpetrator as el vampiro de Moca. Eventually after a purported attack on over 150 animals, an eyewitness came forward with a description of the beast, saying that it was a bipedal reptilian creature, with greenish skin and spines going down its back. As time passed, reports of the now coined Chupacabra grew and transmitted to other areas, ultimately culminating in the southern U.S. The description given to the creature in the U.S was markedly different than the original in Puerto Rico. In the U.S the Chupacabra was said to be canine in appearance, with no hair and a pronounced spine. Some have attested to seeing UFOs during alleged Chupacabra encounters, leading some to think it’s extraterrestrial in nature, while others believe it to be more of an earthly creature.
The Chupacabra’s original name of el vampiro de Moca translates to “the vampire of Moca” from Spanish, with Moca being the first location in which the killings were recorded. The name Chupacabra translates from Spanish to “goat-sucker” in English. Now the actual legitimacy of the Chupacabra’s existence has fallen under extreme scrutiny, as many parts of the case have fallen in reputation. The actual blood sucking of the event has also been given scrutiny, as the bodies were never actually checked at the time to actually see if all the blood had been drained, and when reanalyzing, researchers had found that there was still a significant amount of blood within some of the corpses. The instances of the Chupacabra in the U.S has also unearthed a very plausible explanation, as much research and investigation has concluded that the culprit was most likely a dog or coyote with mange, a disease which causes them to lose fur and scab skin. Other explanations have also suggested that it could be a hybrid species of dog and coyote, however this theory is not as well supported as the previous.
