Whaaat would get out beloved ud people to fall in love?
i assume with means to say our* instead of out, which took my dyslexic ass longer to get than I care to admit, lol, but if I still managed to misread what you were asking let me know. here’s what I got though:
Josh: I imagine he falls in love slowly. I mean he falls in lust with lots of people and is a man who enjoys casual sex. I think to really fall in love it would be with a partner who’s a little hard to get. Like he needs someone who can reel in his wild tendencies and tell him no right to his face. He’d also truly fall for someone who can see him at his worst and won't run away. I think the moment he’d know he was truly in love is when his partner (or whoever he’s interested in) doesn't run at the first sign of baggage.
(rest undercut)
Until Dawn Singing Headcanons
Ranked from ‘best singer’ to ‘worst singer’. There’s a pretty big leap between #2 and #3, where it goes from ‘that’s incredible!’ to ‘you’re good!’
Jess - Is used to singing when she’s active, like cleaning or dancing. Has memorized a plethora of Disney songs for her younger siblings and herself. Also a Britney fan.
Matt - Undoubtedly the best guy singer of the group but he doesn’t do it often so you wouldn’t know unless he was doing so for a bet or if he was drunk.
Chris - Best at holding notes but doesn’t practice enough to make it effective, sadly.
Ashley - Soprano. Good but she gets stage fright so, like Chris, she doesn’t have the practice.
Emily - Alto. On the same level as Ashley, just prefers not to sing because “she isn’t here to entertain people”. Used to sing with Jess back when they were friends.
Mike - Not awful but you wouldn’t say he’s good, either. Best enjoyed when in a group because his proper singing voice can reach very low, providing a nice ‘base’ layer.
Josh - Makes up for his lack of vocal talent with being a killer on the piano. Has played the piano tune for ‘Cruella De Vil’ while Emily has been in the room before, to Jess’ glee.
Sam - Sings despite being terrible because it’s for fun. You definitely won’t see her on a stage any time soon.
until dawn hc
until dawn means so much to me so here are random headcanons!!!
-sam became friends with the washington's after accidentally knocking josh out in pre k. sam was swinging and unbeknownst to her, josh was crawling under her on a dare. of course, she kicked the hell outta him and after a thorough examination, multiple breakdowns, and a parent teacher conference, they had a sleepover.
-emily has a great relationship with her parents!!! she has two moms, emma and naomi. they are all extremely close and they support their only daughter very much!
-jess, on the other hand, was adopted by her dads! they are extremely funny and extroverted, which caused jess to be a bit of an attention seeker, as they got distracted by everything. she grew up with a bunch of bandaids and several broken arms because she loves to climb trees and run
-in 9th grade the entire group got together at josh's house to film a music video for their speech class. after two hours of fighting over which song to use, they ultimately decided on 'Yeah' by Usher. The video got them a detention because of the fact mike and chris had a pair of daisy dukes and stilettos on. and nothing else.
-chris and ashley both had a huge crush on jess growing up. in 11th grade, after no longer having a crush, they told jess. she knew the entire time and flirted with them nonstop because of that
-mike and matt are extremely close because mike lived with matt. mike got kicked out by his father for being bisexual, and matt took him in. mike lived with him, his grandmother, mother, and little sister for two years before moving in with his aunt. mike still calls matt's mother 'mom'.
-sam is known by the group to be the mom friend, but in all honestly it's totally matt too. they all affectionately have him as 'momma matt' in their phones, except emily who jokingly has him as 'crusty rat'.
-after hannah and beth got in a car accident (they were completely fine, just cuts and bruises) they became a lot closer, as they thought they had lost them. they had a big group hug/cry when they left the hospital.
-when matt's grandma died, everyone felt that pain as one because of all the times they stayed there and talked with her. everyone supported matt and cried with him through it all
-after they graduated high school they went to disney world (personally funded by the washingtons). the trip ended with jess and em dating, mike and sam witnessing too much cute couple shit they did, matt and ashley with matching tattoos (they both had a disney princess. ashley had belle, and matt had ariel.
-during college they stayed in a huge four bedroom apartment, which had jess/em in a room, sam and ashley, Josh and chris, and mike and matt. the apartment was constantly receiving complaints from the other tenants, as 'nobody ever shuts up' and the sleep schedules 'were horrendous'.

Until Dawn Headcanons:
Beth was rebellious at school. She had no problem talking back to teachers and speaking her mind. She’d often pick fights, in or out of the classroom (especially if it was about Hannah). She definitely bit a teacher in kindergarten.
Jess is a complete sucker for romance novels- especially chicklit. Not many people know that she loves reading but she often pays attention to what Ashley recommends.
If Ashley is really upset but doesn’t want to talk about it she meets up with Matt. They’re both empathetic and understanding so they kinda just let each other be in their presence without asking about what’s wrong.
Chris being a bit of a sci-fi nerd once tried to have a weekly “Nerd Night” film marathon. Emily complained most of the time and the others got bored so in the end, so now he just occasionally has them Ashley, Josh and Sam. It’s really fun and most of the time they laugh so much they miss most of the plot.
Matt struggles at school. Because he’s so ambitious, he’s never good enough for himself so he’s always down about his grades. But since sitting next to Jess in a lot of his classes, she cheers up and tells him he might as well have fun while he can. They help each other with work and always pair up.
Ashley is very insecure about how she looks. She wears beanies because she doesn’t like her hair, although Jess sometimes badgers her to let it show. Emily takes it upon herself to give her boosts of confidence and offers to give her makeovers and fashion advice.
Hannah and Sam first bonded in the tennis after-school club. They got talking and realised that they had quite a few things in common… mainly their love for the outdoors. Hannah often invites Sam back to her house where they can play tennis and swim (often with Hannah talking for ages about Mike). Sam likes Hannah’s sweetness and honesty and thinks of her like a sister. She often just refers to her as “honey”.
Beth loves Harry Potter. Her favourite character is Ginny and she got really angry at the way she was portrayed in the films- and everyone knows it. She’s always buying Gryffindor merch and tries to sort everyone into houses. (My guess is that she also hates Snape and ships Ginny and Luna. :P)
Emily was bullied in 6th-8th grade, and although it deeply hurt her it really brought out her bitter and cunning side. She learned that she had to be confident and look after herself, and quickly turned herself into one of the most popular girls in school. She never let her bullies live it down, but still struggles with her feelings.
Josh refused to tell his sisters about his therapy and hid the symptoms of his mental illness as much as he could simply because he (and his parents, to an extent) didn’t want to be their responsibility. Beth managed to find out when Josh was low but agreed after lots of pleading not to tell Hannah that things weren’t good. She felt more angry towards their parents for keeping it quiet, and never forgave them for how they treated Josh.
BONUS: PET EDITION
Emily and Ashley own cats and are hardcore cat lovers. Emily, of course, owns a white pedigree Persian called Lucy. She gets only the best, most expensive food and toys for her little girl. Ashley has two cats from a rescue shelter: a tortoiseshell male called Pumpkin and a male tabby called Cinnamon. Nearly all of her other social media are mostly just pictures of her cats.
Sam wants to have every animal in existence but decided on a female Syrian hamster called Chip. She also pet-sitted when she was younger but had a horrible experience when she looked after an African Grey Parrot who ended up escaping its cage and learnt a string of curse words (especially “shitshitshitshitfuckgod”). She stopped soon after that... and is still a little intimidated by parrots. She wants a rabbit at the moment.
Hannah has a chestnut horse called Garnet who she uses for all of her riding competitions. She loves how gentle and sensitive they are, and they’re tied with butterflies as her favourite creatures.
Mike had a dog when he was little but it grew old and died by the time he was 12. Although he was upset, he believed it was stupid to mourn over a dog so pretended he wasn’t bothered. Whenever he thinks about it, he regrets how he acted and would love another dog.
Imagine celebrating New Years with the UD boys
Mike: Enjoys parties a lot, but would probably also be into spending the night on a romantic date with his SO. While he loves to socialise, he is also very romantic, so he would be thrilled to spend the night with great (and probably expensive) food, somewhere with a nice view, so you two could watch the skyline and the fireworks well. Might be interested in starting the new year having sex with you, both for the romance, and also so he could say that the sex lasted since last year.
Matt: Would like to spend the night with his datemate and his closest friends and possibly the part of his family he feels closest to. A small party or somewhat large get-together would make it the best possible start of a new year to him. His first concern would always be that his partner was happy and content however, so if you would rather not be around many people, or you would like to invite your friends and/or family as well, he would be very flexible. Some time around his family is a must though, as Matt values the traditional parts of himself, and would like to be where his roots are, at least for a while.
Chris: Probably wouldn’t even notice the special occasion aside from special game offers/events, unless you reminded him. He would probably be happy spending the night in comfortable clothes, watching movies or playing games with you. He would probably have spent the day/evening with friends and family, but the night is for you two to have fun and chill together, the way you normally do. It’s what you’re the most happy doing together, so he doesn’t see the need to do anything different just because the date is different.
Josh: Would want to party. It’s not like Josh needs it to be a special occasion to be into parties, but New Year parties are probably his favourite. No matter who is there or what they’re doing, there’s something special to him about seeing the hopefulness for the new year in everybody’s faces. It almost makes him feel optimistic about the future as well. If you weren’t into parties/prioritised other things, like spending time with your family, he’d still make sure to be with you before twelve AM.
Washington sibs hcs n thoughts n stuff
They're actually triplets, Josh being born on the 31st of January and Han and Beth being on the 5th of February.
They were all born in 1995.
They're all fraternal.
Josh and Han are both trans.
Hannah and Beth are both 5'8 (as it says on their missing posters) and Josh is 5'7 (based of the actor's height).
Both Hannah and Beth are shown to be decently sporty, and both joined school clubs for tennis and football n stuff. Josh is also decently active but didn't care to actually join any teams or anything.
Beth is the youngest but she often was the one who looked out for the other two in school. Moreso Hannah than Josh.
Hannah met Sam in 3rd grade not too long after Josh met Chris, and Beth met Jess and Em in 5th.
Hannah met Sam in her gym class when they were put in the same team for dodgeball.
Beth met Jess and Em because she sat close to them and Jess talks to everyone.
Beth likes hockey as well.
Beth plays lots of instruments, mostly guitar though.
In 1st to 3rd grade, before they really made close friends, the three of them just kind of stuck with eachother as much as possible, though Beth was really quite popular because she was the most outgoing.
Hannah always liked collecting stuff like feathers, rocks and bones. Josh and her would often go out looking around for those types of things, especially up on Blackwood.
Around the time of the prologue, Hannah is quite lean in figure, tall and strong. Beth is tall but slumps a lot more and is a bit stockier, but also strong. Josh is pretty similar to Beth.
Hannah loves bugs, Beth is neutral to them and Josh hates them.
Hannah has a pet spider (Josh hates it).
Up at the lodge they enjoy doing general maintenance work like chopping firewood.
They can all shoot (Bob taught them all at the firing range) but only Josh actually found any sort of enjoyment from it.
Beth's full name is Bethany (I was torn between that and Elizabeth for ages but then I leaned Bethany means 'house of suffering' and I think that fits with the game better, so).
As kids they were all scared of the lodge at night because it is haunted asf.
Josh once saw one of the monsters when he was a small child and he still vaguely remembers it but puts it up to childhood imagination.
Beth had lots of weird experiences in the lodge (hearing the whispers n stuff) that she never told anyone because she didn't want to freak her siblings out.
Beth has gotten into trouble for fighting at school because of people being mean to Hannah, very quickly everyone learned not to be mean to her.
Hannah was actually quite well liked in her sports teams and stuff.
Josh and Chris met Ashley in 6th grade when she moved to California.
Her and Sam brought Matt into the friend group in highschool (9th grade, I think that is).
Beth, Jess and Em brought Mike into the group in 10th grade, again they met him because Jess is friendly and chatty with most people.
They have a few cousins that would visit in the summer, or vice versa. They're a little younger but they get on fine.
They all learn to drive but Josh is usually the one designated to do so.
They have gone on roadtrips with just the 3 of them, usually to the middle of nowhere and Josh will try to creep them out when they're visiting forests and stuff.
They have definitely explored old abandoned buildings together.
Josh always packs extra stuff (clothes, food etc) because Hannah and Beth are both likely to forget something.
Both Hannah and Josh are very artsy people, and they can draw really well. Beth isn't as interested in that.
Can't think up any more rn so done.
It was a wonderful answer and it made me feel calmer, I like your words. Do you think they would still hang out? I mean, are they good friends? After 15 years, at Mike's wedding, are they friend who care about each other and throw him a bachelor's party, or just people who know each other from highschool?
I mean after the trauma they went through together and knowing about the supernatural monster they survived, I don’t think they could ever outgrow each other. I feel like The couples would especially get stuck together. I don’t think Mike and Jess would have lasted longer term normally, but after this is can’t see them ever breaking up. I mean Mike literally saved her life from a monster, and I think Mike would just never wanna let her go after that.
I think Sam and Emily are the ones to most likely try to separate themsleves from the group. Emily because I think she’d try to run from her trauma rather than deal with it (also Mike tried to shoot her, Ashley was accidentally encoraging Mike, and Chris did nothing. Only Sam tried to speak out), and Sam because now all three of her closest friends (the Washingtons) are dead. (If you wanna read my take on some Chris and Sam healing post game here’s a fic I made on it anon). But I think at the end of the day they would all come back to each other, as survivors and friends.
Matt and Jess are defo super close after the game and so Mike and Matt make up. Emily would definitely hate Mike for a long while after and for good reason. Mike tried to shoot her in the face. I don’t think she would ever FULLY forgive him, but she’s back to being best friends with Jess so she’s learn to move past it all. And she is defo Jess’s maid of honor.
I think Chris and Mike would probs become best friends after that night since they both have these very protective instincts. And they would be the ones to worry about the group the most and they’d keep in touch if only to make sure everyone is alright. I feel like Chris would be his Best Man, and probably recruit Matt for Batchelor party planning cause Chris... well he doesn’t have Josh’s party planning skills.
