For everyone who thinks the elders would call Nabulungi "Sister Hatimbi" after everyone accepts Arnold's new religion: You are so right and this headcanon gives me life and is super adorable, I love my girl Naba, and the sole concept of District 9/Ugandans solidarity is so blessed. Bless you all. Keep giving me this amazing content I love you.

I decided to create a resource post (in a google doc, since it’s so detailed) for all the background Ugandans for any content creators who might need it! I hope it comes in handy. Let me know if you have anything to add that I might have missed (with sources preferably!) and I’ll do so!
The characters include: Sadaka, Asmeret, Mutumbo, The Butcher, Middala, Gotswana, Kimbay, Kalimba, and Ghali.
I tried to include a range of references from different casts.
I include each character’s lines, transcribed from the script. I didn’t include songs, with the exception of Joseph Smith American Moses (and the Hello Reprise for Ghali) – a lot of the lines are spoken in this number and I feel as if the parts they play reflect on the characters themselves.
The final section is notes I compiled based on what I think we see of the character and what I have personally witnessed from watching the show. I tried not to delve too much into headcanon territory, but just provide a starting point for any creators! :)
This took me a lot of effort to compile so I’d appreciate a like and reblog if you found it useful. Spread the word and hopefully this inspires people!
Ugandans: We thought you were dead!
Cunningham: Do I look like the kind of man who dies?
you complain about not getting notes on your ugandan art and i Completely understand, i posted some videos of the broadway cast, one a scare cam vid and the other two were of marja and maia. scare cam was White Boys ™ and has 1.6k notes, the other two both have less than 200 and are funnier than the scare cam and i just?? don’t know why they don’t have more notes when those girls are Golden. idk what the point of this was but bom fandom needs to appreciate the girls more
The thing is, this is entirely true. With six years of BoM having a fandom, we already got used to following the usual elders and stuff that we kinda forgot about the Ugandans. I’m completely fine if you prefer the elders but how about the rest?
The Ugandans are such amazing characters of BoM. A lot of them were great characters with amazing lines. It’s sad to see them just ignored. This also applies for the cast. So many people keep complimenting on Nic being on the show for long but you know, Maia was here the longest since the OBC and nobody paid attention to her. Heck, she even made the catchy “Fire Exit Keep Area Clear” song.
I just wish there were more people who realize that these characters exist. As long as more fanart or fanmade shit will be made for the elders only, people will start believing that they’re the only ones that should be paid attention on in the fandom.
It needs to change, honestly.
Thanks for bringing this up, Anon, I really appreciate it. I’ve got a bit fed up with a lot of things lately because of the humungous amount of appreciation towards the elders. At least I know some people out there really care for them as much as I do.
For those reading this, if you wanna make McPriceley or Poptarts or whatever elder fan content, it’s fine. All I’m saying is is that we shouldn’t ignore the other half of the characters and cast of the BoM. They’re just as important too.
Hello and Welcome to the Book of Mormon (2011) fandom
just a few reminders before you dive into this great abyss of a musical;
- please no hitler jokes of any kind - no book-related jokes about kevin price…..please let him live…. he suffered enough - we respect ships of any kind but please note that arnaba is to be recognized as canon - dont forget to give love to all the characters and cast - equal love to the ugandans as much as all the elders,,, Jesus says to love all your neighbors - dont pick fights with other fandoms,, please,,, we are chill….. and no harassment of any kind in this good mormon house - especially no harassment of real mormons…. please for the love of Heavenly Father - give love and support to all the artists and writers!! - andrew is leg boy - nic rouleau is a vampire who feeds on young arnold cunninghams - just dont be a dick. Jesus does not like that.
- if you've joined the fandom then you're already a part of this small family!!!
- you can never leave
- have fun!!
