uhc 15
anyways, I am still looking forward to next season, I kind of want teams again but I also feel like next season should be one man teams only, also fingers crossed bdubs will be back next season, I miss his beautiful voice
but yea, all in all this season was good, I think it just held out for too long and some of the teams didn't really work out to well
I need fanart of lil Nebris and lil Pyro playing pattycake.
Pak's exasperated "Really?" at the enderman made my day.
Jesus christ. I don't even know much about Vechs yet (yes hi, new mindcrack fan) so this isn't about playing favorites. The last few UHCs I've gone through, I've always dreaded looking at the comments. That's pretty sad right? Being a fan for a couple of months but already knowing what to expect and consequently avoiding the comments of certain videos? The amount of just utter bullshit I have come across today inspired me to write this:
ETA: I should note, this is a reaction to reading through Reddit, and nothing to do with you guys here on Tumblr. You guys are great.
Let's look at this from a different perspective, yes?
You and your friends get together every Friday night for game night. I don't know if that's still a thing, but it is now. You get together, you play games, you have a good time. You do it every week. One of your favorite games to play is Monopoly. Everybody knows Monopoly gets a little bloodthirsty, but it's fun, right? Some of your friends play, some sit around and watch.
So this one Friday, you and your friends are playing and you lose. Your friend is just a total ass to you or you do a really dumb move or something I don't actually know how Monopoly works. Your friends laugh at you when you are the first one out of the game. You shake your fist dramatically and say, "I'll get you next time!!" Of course you wanted to win and maybe you're just a little pissed at your friend, but it's just a game and you play it like, every week. Maybe you'll win next time. Plus that guy is basically your best friend and you know he was just hamming it up.
But MAN. Those friends that sit and watch?? They are PISSED. This has just ruined their night. They were rooting for you! When you go to sit down next to them to watch the rest of your friends play they just tear you a fucking new one. "WHY DIDN'T YOU ___" "WHY DID YOU LET HIM ____" "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!" And when the friend that screwed you over is out, they rip into him too, calling him an asshole, saying he cheated, etc.
You're confused and hurt because that guy is your friend, and normally after the game ends, you're just going to hug them all, say goodnight, and go the rest of the week perfectly normal, looking forward to the next game night. You didn't want this at all. You just wanted to have a good night and now people are being fucking idiots. Way too serious over such a silly thing.
Do you see what I'm getting at here? It's cool to be excited and invested. It's great to root for (or even against!) somebody. But it's a game. The way some of you are acting is equivalent to those ridiculous people who go riot in the streets when their favorite team loses. There's no need for this level of animosity towards anybody, whether or not they made a dumb mistake. There's no need for this level of gravity over a game that is made for entertainment. Keeping stats and making charts are pretty interesting and I support it 100%, but when you are at the point where you are spending half an hour arguing with somebody on Reddit or in the Youtube comments about fucking strategy or who can be blamed for the downfall of a teammate, you are taking it it t o o s e r i o u s l y.
And that can be hurtful for the people you're ripping apart when all they wanted to do was entertain you. If you are taking everything so seriously that you can't just sit back and enjoy the show then you should probably reevaluate your position as a member of the Youtube audience. It's as if you've forgotten that the Mindcrackers are not so far removed from us as say, famous footballers or popular actors. They can, and probably are reading everything you say because that's basically half their job.
So calm down, think about how silly you all sound, think about how your own and your collective words are affecting somebody, and appreciate the effort that these guys go through to entertain you.
UHC is always filled with poor communication and whatnot, yet people tend to choose the least popular people to attack for it. It's disgusting. It's also one of the reasons I rarely ever go to the subreddit. Ugh.
I love the subreddit, I really do, but it’s gotten so big and there are so many people who are all so different (not to mention the whole teenage boy target demographic being the easiest to incite to rage) that I’m really glad I found places like the salad a long time ago and tumblr now. It feels much better over here than over there.
i trust you posted that on the subreddit itself?
I didn’t. I thought about leaving comments under Vechs or Bluey or anyone else, but honestly I just don’t want to get involved over there. The Mindcrack subreddit has always been great at taking drama and amping it up to extremes and I don’t really want to make it worse :|
