Ukraine Crisis: Russia Warns of Dropping US Dollar as Reserve Currency if US Imposes Sanctions

A Kremlin aide was quoted on Tuesday as saying that if the United States were to impose sanctions on Russia over Ukraine, Moscow might be forced to drop the dollar as a reserve currency and refuse to pay off any loans to US banks.

A member of the Ukrainian FEMEN women's rights group is detained by policemen after a protest at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, WEF, in Davos, Switzerland, Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012. In freezing temperatures three topless Ukrainian protesters were detained Saturday while climbing a security fence outside the economic forum to draw attention to the needs of the world's poor. The protesters had their papers checked and will be released later from custody.
