Rook and Bishop Scene 26
Since it's never explained what actually happened to them, here's my theory:
Rook and Bishop found Adler at the top of the mountain. Believing him to be the Phoenix, they attempted to get him to lay an egg.
After hours with no results, Bishop has a brain wave:
"Let's just take the Phoenix with us!"
So the pair grab their new friend and race back to the airship. Adler is quite fond of these strange humans so he doesn't mind.
And they would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for that meddling Babak.
So it turns out that taking exotic birds from their natural habitat is frowned upon. Very frowned upon. In fact, it's illegal!
Babak literally grabs the pair under each arm and drags them out of the forest.
During the commotion, Adler gets spooked and flies away. Bishop screams "Nooooooo!" as their feathered friend fades into the distance. It's very heartbreaking. 💔
On the way to prison, they catch sight of Umid. They beg him to tell Babak that they aren't poaches but Umid is like "lol have fun in prison old men."
Fortunately, the pair are able to break out of prison. They may not be good criminals, but they are still criminals and escaping the law is no issue for them.
Bishop tried calling for his Phoenix, but they were spotted and had to leave without Adler. How sad!
Two bird dads and their bird son.
