Vesper Rafferty / Ultraviolette (The Boys)

Life’s tough when you’re a legacy Supe - aka the kid of a Supe. In fact, Vesper is the child of the world’s first Supe, Soldier Boy. It means she’s been in the spotlight since birth, and that she was the youngest superpowered individual to enter combat. But such dazzling fame comes with a price. For Vesper, it’s substance abuse, a reliance on drugs and alcohol to dull the hot mess her life has become.

As the revered Ultraviolette, Vesper utilises her abilities of dream manipulation and memory alteration to her advantage. She’s a lot of anger and hate in a small package, and she gives as good as she gets, screwing with people’s heads. After all, it’s what happened to her - but that was just pure manipulation, no powers involved.

Messed up though she is, Vesper takes an avid interest when Annie January joins The Seven as their newest member. Realising Annie’s sugar-sweet persona is no joke, Vesper becomes determined to stop Annie from tumbling down into darkness as she did. She wants to protect Annie from realising her childhood heroes are fucked up.

As a legacy Supe, everyone expected Vesper to be someone of immense power. Instead, they got a messed-up teenage superhero whose coping mechanisms were...questionable. Now, at 21, Vesper’s trying to get her shit together while running solo. It’s easier said than done. Especially when she meets Annie January, and decides she’d do anything to keep her from going through the same hell Vesper did.

Alright so this is Vesper reflecting on how she’s trying to learn from her past mistakes and have a fresh start, but she feels stuck in the same patterns.

So Vesper’s reflecting on her feelings for Annie and how she’d follow her anywhere basically, but she’s also trying to heal from her traumatic past and her history of substance abuse. She’s a pretty confused mess at this point, but she’s will to give it a go if it means she gets to be with Annie.

Again, Vesper knows she’s often been defined by her past and she’s trying to work past that. She feels a bit lost and isn’t quite sure how to move forward without the past dragging her back, so she’s a bit like “shit where do I go from here”.

Legacy Supe - by that I mean, her father was a Supe and it’s been passed down to her. 

Originally thought of having Homelander for her dad but with the announcement of Jensen Ackles playing Soldier Boy, I’m debating Soldier Boy being her dad

Undetermined whether she’s a member of the Seven or another superhero team, or whether she operates alone

Substance abuse issues - she’s been in the spotlight since she was born and an operational superhero since the age of 13

Personality wise, she’s pretty messed up. As basically a teenage star, she grew up extremely fast and was under a lot of pressure. She can come across as vindictive, hot-tempered and uncaring.

She’s got history with several members of the Seven. Positive with members like Queen Maeve, negative with others like The Deep.
