Quarantine day 8 or 9 for me, April 2020
#2952: Sunaoshi Udon Dappe - Japan
Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, shrimp, narutomaki and shichimi togarashi. The udon is very soft with a light chew. Very standard gauge. The broth has more of a bonito sweet taste than yuzu although it is detectable. Bits of tofu in there. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4973288734737.
Time to unbox some Japanese instant noodles (and eat one of ‘em) sent to me by Umai Crate (this box was originally supposed to be sent to me in February). Thanks, Umai Crate!

How do I put a soft-boiled egg in ramen
I am not even sure a soft-boiled egg exists. I have not seen a soft-boiled egg. I have seen a raw egg and a hard-boiled egg. How can a soft-boiled egg be consumed? How can a soft-boiled egg be true? How can a soft-boiled egg be sliced into a ramen? How can one slice what is soft in a brittle shell?
February's Umai Crate arrived. I can't wait to eat the noodles. All the flavors are things I don't hate so I got lucky!
#2975: San-Iku Miso Ramen - Japan
Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion, corn and soft boiled egg with a dash of nanami togarashi. The noodles hydrated nicely and were of good quality. The broth was definitely miso, but it was a little boring to be honest. I kind of wanted a little something more. Not bad, but room for improvement. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4974434902529.
#2953: Daikoku Hiyashi Tanuki Udon - Japan
Finished (click to enlarge). Added cucumber, hard boiled egg and grape tomato. The noodles hydrated pretty well however were rubbery. The flavor was good - a kind of sweet and sesame affair with a dash of head from the powder. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4904511003429.
#2753: Maruchan Tempura Udon - Japan
Finished (click to enlarge). Added kamaboko, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts and spring onion. The noodles are as most instant udon - broad and flat. They definitely weren't spongy - something I liked. The broth is a kind of sweet soy and fish flavor. The tempura was here and there. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901990330961.
