VoldeVernon
The original cast list for cursed child has Uncle Vernon, Voldemort (and snape) played by the same person and this just got me thinking, what if Voldemort and Vernon were the same? My friend and I have come up with a foolproof theory: • Godric’s Hollow. All-Hallow’s eve 1981. Voldemort comes to Godrics Hollow to murder James, Lily and Harry, but he is not their only visitor as Uncle Vernon is on his way to return something he borrowed long ago. Voldemort succeeded in killing James and Lily, but as the curse rebounded, Tom Riddle’s soul latched on to not only Harry, but also Vernon. • Vernon’s stupidity allowed his mind to become slowly consumed by Voldemort’s soul. • After becoming Harry’s guardian, VoldeVernon did everything he could to prevent Harry’s magical powers from developing: a) he tried to stop Harry’s powers from getting stronger by punishing him when he showed signs of magic b) he made sure Harry remained unaware of the magical world c) he kept harry isolated from even the muggle world to avoid him being recognised by any wizarding folk • So when Harry went to Hogwarts VoldeVernon realised that he couldn't let Harry go into the wizarding world alone and so the piece of Voldemort left Vernon and transferred itself to Quirrel. • But why didn’t VoldeVernon kill Harry? Because VoldeVernon did not have the magical ability, or his wand, that he felt he would need to use to kill Harry. And come on, Harry Potter cannot be killed with a Grunnings drill, that would not do the boy who lived justice.
