I got into tabletop games a year ago. Basically a good friend brought over the x-wing core set and kick started a year of some great games. We travelled to the national tournament last September, System Open in Birmingham in March and played many local tournaments in South Wales. I was fortunate to win a couple.
As much fun pew-pew and lasers are. I felt a calling to play a game that was a bit more hack and slash. Shadespire won me over after a demo in my local game store. Its easy set up, short game length along with the card and dice combo was exactly the type of game I was looking for.
The beauty of x-wing was the community. I had made so many great friends, people from all over the uk that I spoke to on a daily basis. It was always going to be hard moving away from it, especially with Shadespire having next to no presence at my local store. Something I'm aiming to build.
Since I first surveyed the shelves of my local GW store as a kid. I have always had a soft spot for the scrabbling Skaven. I painted various models but never actually played a game.
They had to be my choice of Warband. The five hex movement, the skitter skitter scurry and devious ploys all appealed to me.
This weekly blog is going to be based on my journey with the Skaven Warband, what cards and tactics I use. Along with my success and failures. Any interaction from readers would be greatly appreciated.
