The time had finally come. The time and places were gathered. Everyone knew their mission. Shannon would be staying behind since she was pregnant. Remy stayed behind as well, as there wasn’t much he needed to do.
You, Steve, Tony, Bruce, and Scott would return to New York in 2012. The rest had their various locations to head to, and you all started your way towards the platform.
Your heart was racing. This was it. You’d finally get Loki back. You’d finally see him again. This was happening, it was very real.
Shannon had gotten to the group a little behind but she wanted to make sure that they would be safe. She had pulled both of her men aside and told them she loved them and to watch each other’s back after that she pulled you aside and asked you to make sure those two goofs would be okay and that you needed to be safe too.
After everyone promised her they’d be safe, Steve began an inspired speech.
“Five years ago, we lost. All of us. We lost friends... We lost our family... We lost a part of ourselves. Today, we have a chance to take it all back. You know your teams, you know your missions. Get the stones, get them back. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do-overs. Most of us are going somewhere we know. But it doesn't mean we should know what to expect. Be careful. Look out for each other. This is the fight of our lives. And we're gonna win. Whatever it takes. Good luck.”
Everyone synced their time machine watches, and you all zapped off to your designated time. In a few seconds, you were in New York, with all of the Chitauri flying, causing destruction. All three men turned to you and gave you a look, to which you gave a sympathetic, humor filled smile.
“Sorry,” you sheepishly said.
“All right, we all have our assignments. Two Stones uptown, one Stone, down. Stay low. Keep an eye on the clock,” Steve reminded.
With that, Bruce set off towards Bleeker street, and the rest of you headed towards the tower.
Steve had to take the civilians entrance, but you and Tony flew up several stories, until you were at the same story as the Avengers from 2012, with all their weapons aimed at Loki and you.
Loki…
Your heart stopped at the sight of him. How did he somehow look better than you remembered? Even bruised, and brainwashed, he was still more handsome than you remembered.
You knew this would happen. You knew you’d see him. You’d already seen him once in the past but now… again? You had more time now.
Past-Shannon had just walked in, eyeing the two of you in the past.
Good lord, you’d forgotten what you’d done to her. She was a bloody mess, her hair disarrayed, her cheeks still red from crying. She thought she’d lost Tony, and she thought she’d lost you as a friend. You weren’t looking too hot yourself. Your clothing was torn, tattered, your breathing labored as your hair stuck out in all directions.
You and Tony stayed in the shadows, watching it unfold. You kept your emotions in check. The tears weren’t coming. Somehow, you knew, your mind overrode your heart. This was your one chance to get Loki back, and you couldn’t blow it, no matter what was happening.
Tony suddenly said, “Uh, Mr. Rogers. I almost forgot that that suit did nothing for your ass.”
You rolled your eyes. “Really, Tony? We’re gonna talk about Steve’s--”
“No one asked you to look, Tony,” Steve retorted.
“I think you look great, Cap. As far as I'm concerned, that's America's ass,” Scott said proudly, saluting.
“Can we focus up here?” you stressed to the team.
For the next few moments, Scott and Tony were talking about Hydra and you were watching everything unfold. Past-you and Loki were put in handcuffs before Past-Steve said, “On my way down to coordinate search and rescue.”
To which, Loki transfigured like Steve to mock him before returning to his normal form and saying, “I mean, honestly! How do you think you'll be--”
Thor slapped the human muzzle on him and said, “Shut up.”
A big part of you wanted to laugh at his antics, you missed them so much. But you didn’t miss this version of you. This version was dark, scary, unstable, and selfish.
You weren’t sure you were much better now, but at least you were a tiny bit more stable.
Tony informed Scott it was his time to shine, and he shot him over to the Tesseract, where he landed on it. You glanced at Tony and nodded before he fell out of the window and hit his nanotech suit. You followed behind him, using your power to keep you elevated.
Tony and you got into suits that matched SWAT before heading into the lobby to watch the argument unfold between Hydra and the Avengers.. Past-Thor insisted that Loki and you would be answering to Odin, or at the very least the Avengers.
Tony, into the coms, said, “All right, move it, Stuart Little. Things are getting dicey up here. Let's go.”
You gave him a nervous glance, surprised that you could take your eyes off of Loki.
Past Stark was still talking with Pierce. “I'm not gonna argue who's got the higher authority here, all right?”
Nervously, Scott asked, “You promise me you won't die?”
“You're only giving me a mild cardiac dysrhythmia.”
“That doesn't sound mild.”
The situation got hairier and hairier as Tony and Thor argued with Pierce and Hydra. Tony kept ordering Scott to pull the pin, but he kept hesitating.
Finally though, Scott pulled the pin, and Tony seized up, gasping for breath. It was hard to watch, but he dropped the case holding the Tesseract.
After a second, present-Tony yelled for a medic, but then Scott pushed the case your way. Your eyes fell on the case as Tony grabbed it, but then your eyes drifted to Loki’s. His gaze met yours for a second before narrowing. You had a lot of gear on your face, but you knew even Loki would know your eyes. His gaze had been following that case though, and that worried you.
But you had to go. You wanted to stay in this past, grab Loki, go far away, return when Shannon had cooled down, when she could understand. But you couldn’t. This timeline was done, you’d seen how it all played out. It was time to fix your current timeline and bring him back.
You followed Tony as he said, “Good job. Meet us in the alley. I'm gonna grab a quick slice.”
“Pizza? At a time like--” you were asking, following along quickly before Hulk suddenly slammed open the door, knocking both of you back. The case opened and the Tesseract flew out.
The blue cube hit Loki’s foot and your heart constricted.
No.
You scrambled to get to the cube. If you could use your powers, you could’ve grabbed it, but everyone was armed and waiting for past-you to do something. If you so much as sparked, you’d risk jeopardizing your past-self.
In all the commotion from Stark and Hulk though, Loki seized the moment in half a second, grabbing the Tesseract. He picked it up, looked at you with loving eyes, and past-Loki and past-you were standing in a portal. The two of you gave each other a look of adoration, and then you were gone in the portal.
You went numb instantly. Loki and you had just escaped with the only way to get the real Loki back.
But some small part of you was actually happy for this timeline. As selfish as it was, wherever the two of you were going, you wished them nothing but happiness.
But now you had a new problem, a very large problem. Where the hell were you going to get the Space stone?
Suddenly, Steve said through the coms, “Oh you gotta be shitting me.”
“Steve?” you breathed into the coms.
“Y/N, get up here. Old me thinks I’m Loki,” he said quietly before speaking to his past self.
“Fuck,” you hissed. “On my way.” You escaped back into the stairwell, using your powers to fly to his location as soon as possible. You just lost the Tesseract, you couldn’t lose the scepter too. When you got there, you saw old Steve and current Steve fighting. Steve had sat the scepter case down. You picked it up and started to carry it off. “Let me know if you need me, Cap. I’ve got the scepter. I’m going to keep to the mission.”
You continued walking as Steve took care of himself. You turned the corner and saw Shannon coming out of a room. For a split second, you were happy to see her, but then you realized this wasn’t your Shannon. This was Past-Shannon. This was the Shannon that just saw you throw Tony out a window. This was Very-Pissed-At-You-Shannon.
You went to open your mouth to talk to her, but it only took her a fraction of a second to respond and fire her powers at you.
“Y/N?!” She looked alarmed to see you standing there. “You're coming with me.” She blasted shots of electric shocks at you to keep you from running off.
Her power stunned you, making you freeze, your entire body going rigid. Of course, this was Past-Shannon which was unstable, and she had your old powers. You were wiser now, a better fighter, and your powers had evolved. But you weren’t here to hurt Shannon.
You dropped to your knees, making no sign to fight her. You held your hands up as she ran at you. “Shannon, no, please! Wait!” you pleaded.
“No, Y/N, I’m not falling for your manipulations. Not again!” She threw a supercharged punch at you but missed as you moved lower. “How did you escape from your holding?” she grabbed you by the back of your neck and applied pressure.
In a swift movement, you knocked her hand and arm off of your neck, jumping to your feet as you held her hands down at her side. “Shannon, listen to me for two seconds. I’m not wearing the same clothes. I didn’t escape holding. I’m not fighting you.”
You hoped being extra calm would get her to listen to you without causing any more of a scene. You hoped she would see you were being sincere.
“You want me to calm down?” She sounded livid and her eyes began clouding over. “You expect me to calm down when you're standing here acting like you are not violating your arrest?” The lights began to flicker and a strike of lighting hit one of the windows causing it to shatter. “You could have just used your illusion powers to change clothes.” Shannon slowly but strongly charged her arms where you were holding her.
Suddenly, the power she built up blasted you off of her. You went flying, the scepter falling out of your grasp. You rolled on the floor. You could’ve taken the blast, but you were trying really hard not to use your powers or get caught up in a fight. You groaned as she stalked over to you. “Peter Parker is your son!” you cried out, looking up at her.
She stopped in her tracks, her face full of shock that quickly turned into a scowl. “H-how did you... That's not true!” she yelled at you, her eyes still milky with red swirling around. Her emotions were getting the better of her as the sky darkened. “You and I both know I can’t have kids, why would you make up such a lie!” Her eyes begin to change back. “I don’t even know a Peter Parker.” She winced as she told that lie.
“I don’t have time for this, Shannon! How else would I know this? He’s your son. You had May be a surrogate. You and Tony saved your eggs and sperm, and you created Peter, that’s how he has his powers,” you stressed, slowly standing up. “Shannon, you know this is true. You know I can’t get inside your head. Loki has that power, but not me. You know I’m not lying. You told me this…” You made a face of uncertainty, but you needed her to stop and let you through. “You told me this at your cabin, that you live in with Bruce and Tony. You have another child, a daughter, named Morgan, and in my time, you’re pregnant with another child. Please… just let me through with the scepter. The Y/N that stands before you isn’t the same one that just invaded New York. She’s twelve years younger than I am. Look at me and tell you don’t see a difference. Look at me and tell me you don’t see a different person from the one that just fought you a flew floors up.” You stared at her, begging her with your gaze to just listen, hope, and believe you.
Shannon closed her eyes, took a deep breath and looked at you, really looked at you. She noticed just how tired you were, she could sense that there was a great amount of grief within you but also a sliver of hope. “W-why do I feel your grief? What happened?” She stuttered and moved to come closer to see your face. “I can feel it blanketed on you but there’s a tiny bit that isn’t.” She cocked her head and her eyes softened at you when she realized that you're telling the truth. “How…how are you even here? I thought that time travel was impossible.” Her heart told her to hug you and so she did, hoping to help to take away some of your pain with her powers.
Her hug breathed some life back into you and you felt some form of closure. Giving this past version of Shannon some sort of hope that you weren’t a monster coming to kill her.
“It isn’t impossible. Tony and Scott Lang figured it out. Bruce helped build the machine,” you explained. “I know it’s hard to trust me. I get that. But the fate of the universe depends on me getting this scepter back to my time. I hope you can believe me or trust me.”
She pulled back hearing your word. “What happens in the future that requires you to get the scepter from my timeline?” She hoped she could get a better understanding of things. She hesitated asking the next question, but did so anyway. “Do.. Do we fix things? I mean between you and me in the future?” She looked up at you with hopeful eyes. “Is Peter happy in the future?” There were so many questions she wanted to ask but wasn’t sure if she would get answers.
Tears formed in your eyes at the mention of Peter. “Shan, uh… Peter… Peter’s part of the reason I need this scepter. But you and I…” You laughed slightly. “Yeah, things get fixed between us. It takes a bit, and it’s not easy, but we work through everything. You find out why I did what I did, and you understand it and forgive us.”
She blanched, shrinking away from what you could possibly mean about needing the scepter because of Peter. What had he done? Was he in trouble, did he get taken or hurt? Her thoughts began to spiral. “I’m glad to hear we fix things. I would have hated it if we hadn’t.” She tried to conceal her emotions from her face.
You smiled past the tears. “No, no, you and I are good. More than good. We’re always there for each other. Through thick and thin,” you assured.
Tears had made trails down her cheeks. “Good. That’s really good.” She bits her lip and looked you in the eyes. “Hey Y/N, did something bad happen to Peter for you to need to come here?” Her voice lowered slightly fearing the worst about what you would say.
You weren’t sure if you should tell her. Sure, this was a different timeline, but you didn’t want to break Shannon’s heart for something that might not even happen in her timeline. This Shannon didn’t deserve to suffer.
“Everything turns out alright. You’ll see,” you assured, nodding. “I wish I could stay,” you said, your voice swelling with tons of emotion. “There are so many things I wish I could change about this moment in time. So many things I wish we could do together, do all over again. Just know that I never meant to hurt you. I love you. I did what I had to and I’m trying to save everyone. But I really have to go.” You looked at her with a pained expression.
She felt every single one of your emotions, the strongest was the heartbreak causing her eyes to water. “You’re right. I shouldn’t keep you from your mission.” She wiped her eyes and gave you a small smile. “Here, just please be careful?” She handed you the scepter but she sounded worried about you. “I know you’ll prove everyone wrong about what they think of you.” And with that she gave you one final hug and moved to the side for you to leave.
You grinned at her, blew her a kiss, and flew out of the window to meet the guys. As soon as you got there though, all three men were beyond upset.
“Shit, the Tesseract,” you remembered. “What are we going to do?” you asked.
Steve and Tony started thinking of other ways to get to the Tesseract. They seemed to concoct a plan where they could get more Pym Particles and get a shot at the Tesseract.
“Where are you two going to go?” you asked, narrowing your gaze.
“Trust me for once, will ya kid?” Tony requested with a smirk.
“You’re not the one who has to face Shannon if I lose you in the past,” you retorted.
“That’s fair,” he assessed with a bob of his head.
“So what are you going to do?” you asked again
“We’ll be alright,” he assured. “See you in a bit. Get that scepter back home, hmm? Don’t go misusing it like last time.” He gave you a teasing look.
You glared at the two of them, but they nodded to you before syncing their watches to some odd time and place. Scott looked as if he was about to have an anxiety attack.
“Scott,” you started, turning to him. “Scott, Scott,” you continued. “Calm down.”
“They… They just left,” he stammered, nearly hyperventilating.
You put your hands on the side of his face. “Hey, hey, listen to me. Focus on my voice,” you soothed. “They know what they’re doing. They won’t ruin the time heist.” You smiled at him and he calmed down. “We’ve gotta get this cepter back to our time,though. We did our part of the mission. Let them do theirs.”
He nodded, listening to you, and you two shot back to the future. You were back on the platform. Everyone was standing there triumphantly. Tony and Steve were there too and you were relieved beyond measure.
“Did we do it?” you breathed, euphoria filling your body before Shannon moved towards the platform.
“Where’s Natasha, Clint?” She walked up the platform and she could tell that something was wrong. “Clint, where is she?!” Her voice was full of emotions.
“She…” He stopped himself. “She didn’t make it.”
“What happened?” She got close and grabbed him by the arms.
“There had to be a sacrifice,” he said numbly, his eyes not quite meeting hers.
Shannon collapsed, hearing what she was dreading that her only other female friend was gone. “No, it can’t be.” She began shaking, her emotions were going haywire and then the lights started to flicker. “Nat, nooooooo,” she cried out.
Bruce walked over to where Shannon was and knelt beside her, holding her and weeping for the one friend he had made who saw him as just a man not a monster. “It’s okay, baby, we’ll get through this.”
You stared down at your best friend, your heart breaking for her, and for Clint, for everyone. The sound of her crying, the look on Clint’s face made you just want to wrap them up and soak up their pain. But you couldn’t, and that killed you.
Tony walked over to the two of them to console them. “Alright, honey, come on,you need to breathe. Your powers are starting to form from the pain.” He got Bruce to get up and give him a hand getting her to stand and she leaned on him as they walked down the platform.
The last thing that the others heard before Shannon was gone was. “We were all she had—-” the rest was gone with her.
Horror and sorrow wrapped around you. Why did someone else have to die for this mission? Hadn’t enough people lost their lives? Tears sprung to your eyes.
---------------------
Rhodey, Nebula, and Rocket worked on getting the stones in a safe place while the rest of you went down to the dock. One by one, everyone went down to the dock. First it was Clint, then it was Steve, then you, then before you knew it, most of the Avengers were out there.
Clint explained somewhat of what happened. The soul stone had to be taken by another soul. Someone you loved had to die in order to obtain the stone. He explained that she sacrificed herself despite his best efforts.
Tony solemnly asked, “Do we know if she had family?”
“Yeah. Us,” Steve responded firmly.
Everyone from the original team was at the dock plus you and Shannon for support. You were near Clint in case he needed a shoulder to lean on. Meanwhile Shannon was sitting on a bench being hugged by her husband, she was pretty quiet, she hadn’t said a word since she was taken to her room.
Thor walked over, and demanded, “What?”
Tony backed up, a little nervous and defensive. “I just asked him a question–”
“Yeah, you're acting like she's dead. Why are we acting like she's dead? We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones, Cap, we can bring her back, isn't that right?” Thor was beyond angry now. “So stop this shit. We're the Avengers, get it together.”
“We can't get her back,” Clint deadpanned.
“Wha– what?” Thor stammered.
“It can't be undone. It can't.”
Thor laughed, but there was no emotion in it. “I'm sorry. No offense, but you're a very earthly being. Okay? We're talking about space magic. And ‘can't’ seems very definitive don't you think?”
“Yeah, look, I know that I'm way outside my paygrade here. But she still isn't here, is she?” Clint snapped.
“No, that's my point–”
“It can't– be undone. Or that's at least what the red floating guy had to say.” At this point, Clint was shouting. “Maybe you wanna go talk to him, okay? Go grab your hammer, and you go fly and you talk to him!” Tears filled his eyes as he said, “It was supposed to be me. She sacrificed her life for that goddamn stone. She bet her life on it.”
You slowly walked over to him and rubbed his arms. You two had been through a lot in the last couple of years together. “No, Clint, it shouldn’t have been you, or her. It’s a terrible price that had to be paid.”
You wrapped your arms around Clint’s shoulders, resting your head on his left shoulder. He put his hand on your hand and leaned his head against yours. The two of you tried comforting each other.
In a burst of anger, Bruce Hulked out and grabbed a bench, hurling it clear across the lake. His anger spent, he turned to the others with a resigned look on his face.
Shannon flinched at the sudden change from Bruce to Hulk, but she got up anyway and got the big guy to sit and calm down. “Hey, big guy I know this is tough. It hurts me too but I need you to bring back the other guy okay?” She looked into his big green eyes. “I promise you can come back later and we can lay in the grass so you can feel the baby kick.”
His features change and soften noticing how sad she looked. “Okay,” his voice boomed, “be back soon.”
Bruce returned and with a look of determination, said, “She's not coming back. We have to make it worth it. We have to.”
“We will,” Steve vowed.

Life moved forward, rather than lateral.
Steve returned the stones on time to their original timelines. He apparently spent a life with Peggy in one of them, but returned still fresh and young as always. He’d done this all before your wedding in fact.
Tony, Shannon, and Bruce stayed in their cabin that they’d built during the snap. It was a beautiful piece of property, with everything they’d wanted in a home, and had no desire to leave. All three of them could work from home, build their family, and they did so.
Tony said he retired from the hero game. Of course, if The Avengers or anyone needed him, he’d be there in a heartbeat, but for the most part, he was going to let the next generation take them on.
Shannon for the most part was a stay at home mom but if she was needed during an emergency or crisis she was the first one to get called to help. She also balanced a way to be with her kids while they attended Charles Xavier school by becoming a trainer for those who had powers similar to her vast collection of powers.
Bruce still did his research, driving into the city when need be, but Tony’s technology made it virtually needless to go in. He’d found a way to be able to marry Shannon but was still waiting for the right moment to ask her. He’d already spoken with Tony and was given the okay for it.
All four of their children were doing exceptionally well. Peter was top of his class at his graduation, valedictorian. Morgan was on the honor roll and even had a few of her own inventions that were up for funding. She was just as smart as her parents already. Natalia and Mason-Alexander (the twins) were turning three and showing signs that just like their parents they too had powers of their own completely different from their mother and unique to them.
When you and Loki returned to New Asgard from your honeymoon, your whole lives lay ahead of you. You had your physics that you could return to, perhaps starting a lab here, or maybe going back to New York. Loki could have stayed working with Strange at the sanctum, each of them protecting the time stone and other priceless relics. But neither of you had really thought about your future or work or anything. You’d been so busy living in the moment, in the now, you haven't given your future any thought, really.
Thor came to give you your wedding present.
“Welcome back,” Thor said happily as he and Valkyrie approached you from atop one of the roads back into town. The sea was on your right, down a steep grade, the mist washing up around your face.
“Thank you, it’s good to be back,” you replied as you held Loki’s hand.
“I’m glad to hear you say that, because I wanted to go ahead and give you your wedding present.”
You and Loki exchanged a look of anticipation.
“What would you say to being Asgard’s new King and queen?” he asked with a plucked up smile.
Your jaw nearly hit the floor.
“What? But--but, Valkyrie has been handling it. She’s been in charge, and you’re rightful heir. With Loki’s past and my--”
“Well, first of all,” Valkyrie started with a smile, “I’ve been in charge because I have to be, not because I want to be.”
“And it’s time for me to stop being who I think I’m supposed to be, and be who I’m meant to be,” Thor agreed. “I’ve already spoken with Valkyrie--”
“And we think it’s best if I step down, and restart the Valkyrie program. I could be the leader for your army.”
“I don’t know what to say,” you gasped. “I feel like we’re...stealing this from you. You deserve to be ruler,” you said with urgency.
“No, I think you two do,” she said with sincerity. “Loki risked his life for Asgard when Hela came. He saved its people, and you saved the universe, risking your life.”
“We will do this,” Loki suddenly said in a cool voice, his face looking defiant. “Only if,” he continued, before suddenly flashing a warm smile, “you agree to be our political advisor as well. We will need someone with experience to help us.”
“Of course, Your Majesty,” she said with a dazzling smile.
After that day, it felt clear and right that being home with your Asgardian people was the best choice. Guiding them felt right, helping them make a better community felt good. You and Loki took the rank extremely seriously. It wasn’t just a role of royalty being handed down, but a way to honor his loving mother and your parents, and a way to give back to the people. Everyone was happy when you and Loki were crowned, and supported Thor in his endeavors as well. Valkyrie did her best and helped all the time to discuss and guide the issues of the community.
While being King and Queen was a full time responsibility, you felt you still had other debts to pay.
The Avengers training picked back up, but it got a few more recruits. Loki, you, Peter, and a few others had signed up for proper training. Once a good foundation was set for how you and Loki were running things in New Asgard, you would return to New York to begin your formal training. The agreement was that if New Asgard was in dire need, you’d return to it, but everything ran pretty much hands off in the community now.
On your first day, Pietro, Wanda, Sam, Bucky, Loki, Peter, Shannon, Carol, Scott, Hope, and Rhodey were all there.
Steve stood before you all, giving a quick speech about why you were here, what it meant to be an Avenger, and that being one didn’t mean you always saved the day. In the training room hung two portraits of Natasha and Vision, honoring their sacrifice for the fight to win back the universe.
Tony stood in the background, behind Steve. You wondered why he was here, but of course, his wife and son were there so naturally he wanted to be there to share the first day.
“With that being said,” Steve informed, a look of mischief crossed his face, “I’d like to give the first task to Bucky.”
Bucky frowned but walked forward anyway. All of you were equally confused.
“I’d like you to hold this shield, let me know how it feels,” Steve told Bucky with a bit of a grin.
“Feels heavy, and like it belongs to you,” he responded with a bit of shyness.
“Well, it doesn’t, it belongs to you now,” he said. With that, he turned to everyone. “In fact, this whole program belongs to all of you now. I’m retiring, and I think I'm leaving it in perfectly capable hands. Sam and Bucky will take over as the leaders of the operation, with Shannon overseeing it all. Recruits, it’s your job to follow their every instruction, it may not only save your life one day, but the universe too.” He shot you a tiny smile and nod, to which you returned. “As you know, Tony is retired, Clint has retired, Thor is out exploring the universe, and now with me, it’ll all be on all of you. I wish each of you luck. And as I once said to a very dear friend, no matter what. I promise you, if you need us, if you need me, I'll be there. Avengers, it’s time to assemble.”
He smiled to everyone, nodded once, then turned around. Tony put his hand on Steve’s shoulder as they walked out of the compound.
“Let’s go get lunch,” he said.
“You’re buying,” Steve responded. “I’m retired, gotta watch my budget.”
“Moocher,” Tony replied.
Sam and Bucky stood in front of the group.
“You guys heard him, hop to!” Sam ordered. “Let’s hit the gym everyone!”
With that, the group of you all walked over to the gym, with you and Loki hand in hand.
-----------------------------
You and Loki were standing in the restored castle you’d found on the island, you on the balcony of the bedroom. Both of you staring out over the sparkling ocean. The two of you were on your scheduled vacation from Avengers training, and Sam and Bucky respected that you did have a small nation to lead.
Life continued on for all of you. When you weren’t training at the compound, you and Loki took trips to the sanctum to have tea with Stephen and Wong. Sometimes, for an extended weekend, you’d visit Clint and his family. Wanda visited you in New Asgard a few times, and the two of you would go out on the town, and sometimes Shannon would come, bringing Morgan with her - it’d turn into a girls day out.
Bucky, Sam, you, and Loki all got rather close as well. You all enjoyed practicing combat and Bucky seemed to really enjoy the knife fighting with Loki - those two gave each other a run for their money. A few times, all of the Avengers shared a movie night, a bowling night, a trivia night. Steve and Bucky beat everyone in history, for the most part.
If you weren’t training or helping out Tony and Bruce at Stark Industries with some of your physics knowledge, then you spent time with Shannon and her family. Tom and Diane adored being grandparents, and you and Loki spoiled the kids. It was absolute heaven. Life had finally become happy. It was far from normal, but it was filled with love and happiness, and that’s all you ever wanted.
“You look radiant, my queen,” he mused from behind you as he wrapped his hands around your waist.
“Thank you,” you said blissfully as you stared out. “Would you have done anything differently?” you asked.
Loki rounded around you and got in front of you, putting his hands on the small bump on your stomach. “Of course not, why would you ask that?”
You shrugged simply. “Sometimes I wonder if, well perhaps if you felt trapped or stuck with me. When I jumped after you all those years ago, we weren’t dating. We hadn’t even shared our first kiss yet. So I wonder if perhaps you chose me by default.”
He gave you a soft smile as he stared at you, his hands going to either side of your face. “Y/N, I had thousands of years before we met again to look for someone else. I had ample opportunity to leave you after our imprisonment. I’ve never wanted anyone but you, that has never changed, and it never will.”
You nodded, understanding him. As long as he knew he did have a choice in this, that was all you wanted.
“I’ve wondered the same thing, though. If your decision to jump was made in haste, and after all that time, you just felt as if I were your best option. As if perhaps, if you didn’t stay with me, jumping, losing your freedom, and everything else that went with it, would’ve been for nothing,” he admitted.
“You did?”
He nodded. “Yes. It ran through my mind a few times that maybe if I didn’t propose on the day I came back if you would’ve weighed your options with Remy some more. So one day, I asked Stephen what all those possibilities looked like. Out of those 14 million outcomes, how many of them you chose me in.”
“And?” you breathed, curious to find out, your heart beating rapidly.
“All of them,” he assured with a twinkle in his eye. “He told me that out of all of the futures, you loved me in every one of them, and chose me time and time again.”
You gave him a warm smile. “I’m not surprised,” you mused. “Maybe we should ask him about the future of this little Asgardian,” you said with a bit of a laugh.
“We don’t need him to tell us that future. I already know we will give them everything we always wanted,” he vowed. “I promise.” He got up and kissed you firmly. “Between the two of us, there’s nothing we can’t conquer. Besides, between us, The Starks, Thor, and the other Avengers, this baby will already have ten times the family we did growing up. This baby will be more loved and spoiled than any in existence.”
“Mm, I like the sound of that,” you hummed happily. “I love you,” you quietly said as you stared at him.
“And I love you, Y/N,” he promised with the warmest grin you’d ever seen.
“We’d better get down there,” he reminded. “Shannon and the rest of them just got here. They’ll be waiting on us.”
In just a few minutes, your world would change again, letting in your loved ones on your happy news.
Shannon, Bruce, and the rest of the Starks came to visit you all. You hadn’t told anyone you were pregnant yet, it was to be a surprise. You couldn’t wait for her reaction though, because Loki was right, you knew as a sister she’d go absolutely off the walls happy for you, but not to mention so would several other people that were now family to you.
What seemed like lifetimes ago, Tony, Bruce, were nearly strangers. You all were friends, but nothing compared to what you’d gone through now. Heck, all of the Avengers. People you regularly spoke to, worked with, and relaxed with were once people you hardly knew. Now you couldn’t imagine your life without them (sadly, some of them you didn’t have to imagine, thanks to the snap). They completed your world, they completed you.
This baby, and you and Loki for that matter, had a home, had people who cared for you and loved you deeply. In fact, you had multiple places to call home: the compound, the Stark Cabin, New Asgard.
And you owed it all to your best friend Shannon, and the love of your life Loki - they were your better halves.

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 70)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:2610
Warnings:Wedding day! fluff, Banner babies, emotional day, heart to heart, fluff all around, Song for this part: I Love you Always Forever - Betty Who Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels). It’s a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It started as a funny “What if…?” and it evolved and got huge. This took two years to write. We are both proud and happy and we hope you enjoy it. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.

“Do we have everything?” you asked, nervousness alive in your voice.
“Yes, for the last time, Y/N, everything is perfect,” Shannon replied.
You were looking in the mirror, clad in your gorgeous veil, stunning dress, and breathtaking shoes. Shannon stood to your left, just behind you, her baby bump gone. She had a healthy boy and girl just a few weeks ago. You specifically planned the wedding so that she could be all healed in order to stand with you.
“Well that’s everything, Y/N.” She did minor fixes to your hair and the veil. “Aww, my sister off to get married. Oh gosh I said I wouldn’t cry but here come the waterworks.” She sniffled. “You have no idea how happy I am for you right now.”
“Aww. Thank you, Shannon. I had no idea you’d get this choked up over me marrying Loki.”
“I just want you to know that no matter where this new chapter takes you, I’m always going to be there for you.” She smiled and fixed her makeup. “Now have you decided on taking the offer that Tony gave you about building a home on our land or if you have chosen a specific place in mind to help you guys get it built?”
“Actually,” you responded, “I think Loki and I are gonna try it out here, on New Asgard. I’d like to get to know the community better, for real, you know? I really appreciate the offer. Maybe a little after the honeymoon?”
“Yeah of course. You let us know when you’re ready after the honeymoon.” She held your hands. “I’m getting choked up because you're finally getting your happily ever after that you so deserve.” She teared up again.
You laughed. “You’re crying more than I am,” you teased. You pulled her into a tight hug. “I love you and I don’t know what I did to deserve a sister like you but I wish I knew. You are the biggest and best gift and miracle to my life that I’ve ever gotten.”
“Okay no more crying I swear,” she laughed. “I love you so much, Y/N. We’ve come so far from where we were twelve years ago and through it all we did it together. I know your parents would be so proud of you.”
For the first time today, tears sprang to your eyes. “Damn it, Shan, your crying is contagious.” You laughed through the tears, trying to delicately wipe your eyes without smudging your makeup. “I hope they’re proud. I wish I knew them, or knew how any of my life turned out.”
“I’m sure they know how it’s been and are more than proud.” She helped you with your makeup. “Well, it’s time,” she announced as she glanced to the clock on the wall. “We’ll see you out there, okay?”
You nodded, taking a deep breath.
Here we go.
Shannon picked up her bouquet and left the room gracefully. In swept Tom and Clint, who both approached you with a grin.
“Hey, kid. Congratulations,” Clint said sweetly as he approached.
“Thank you,” you said lightly.
“You ready?” Tom asked.
“I’ve never been more ready for anything,” you breathed.
You put your arm through each of theirs as they offered, and the doors to the little suite opened.
When they did, perfect rays of sunshine and warmth flooded around you. Shannon was working a little to make sure the air wasn’t too cold, or the clouds didn’t threaten to rain, to make your day perfect. The sand on the beach was warm and inviting.
You were on the shores of New Asagard, a beautiful island with amazing beaches. It was an easy choice for you and Loki when you saw it.
The quartet played the Asgardian lullaby that Frigga had sung to you all as children for the bridal party to walk down the aisle. As you approached, Strange put a spell on you that would hide you from everyone’s view. Meanwhile a stunning white french doorway stood where the bridal party couldn’t be seen until it was time.
Wanda and Tony stepped forward from opposite sides of the aisle, linked arms, and walked down the aisle to the tune. Followed by Shannon and Thor. Once the bridal party was situated on the “altar”, Peter walked down the aisle with the ring pillow. It was emerald and gold for Loki. Just behind him, Morgan skipped down the aisle throwing orchid petals, until finally -- the wedding march began playing.
A few small steps up to the entry of the archway, and you, Clint, and Tom were ready to walk down. Stephen lifted the spell, and as everyone stood, they gasped in awe.
Your eyes hit Loki in his all black tuxedo and you weren’t sure whether to weep at his beauty and the beauty of the moment, or to run headlong down the aisle into his arms. He stared at you as if he was seeing an angel for the first time. Thor gave him a pat on the shoulder as Shannon shot you two thumbs up and a big grin.
As you moved forward down the aisle, you gave a smile of love to the face of every friend and family that you passed, but all Loki could look at was you.
Finally, you reached him, your breath halting at his stunning gorgeousness.
How had you gotten so lucky?
The preacher asked who gave you away, and Clint and Tom both gave short answers. Clint patted your shoulder as Tom kissed your cheek. Tom went to sit beside Diane, and Clint went to the second row with his family.
You took Loki’s hands and you felt a sense of life flow through you once more. Loki stared at you.
“I love you,” you mouthed and he smiled at you.
You were trying to listen to the preacher, but honestly, you just wanted this man as your husband as quickly as possible. He finally got to the point of the vows and you gave a smile before starting yours.
“Loki, I’ve loved you for all of my life. My life, our lives, have been anything but conventional. I spent most of my life wishing I had a home, some place I belonged. I always felt out of step with this world. So when I went back to Asgard, I thought that I’d found my home, that's where I found my strength and belonging, but it was never Asgard - it was you. Wherever you are, you’re my home. I know what it’s like to live without you, twice, and I don’t ever want to do it again. You’re my world, you’re my partner, your my life, you’re my home, you’re my everything. I’ve been through Hell and back just to find you, but I’d do it all again, a million times if I had to, if it meant you came back to me.”
When you finished, you could hear a few sniffles and saw some people wiping their eyes.
Loki gave you a small, sweet smile, the one he reserved for being coy and loving. He began his vows after the preacher prompted him with a small gesture.
“Y/N, we’ve fought battles and wars together. We endured torture to protect each other. You selflessly jumped off a perfectly good bridge, just to be with me. You’ve seen me at my very worst times and never looked away. You loved me, embraced me, and supported me through every hellish thing we had to endure. Thank you for never giving up on me. When you fell into the abyss with me, not knowing what would happen, you said, ‘I need you in my life more than you may know. I’ll go wherever you are’ and I have the same sentiments, my dear. When you first arrived at Asgard, some of your first words to me were that we would navigate our pasts together, and I feel we’ve done that exceptionally well, yet, now I can’t wait to explore our futures together. I love you more than I ever thought was possible to love another person, but for once in my life, I was wrong.” He shot you a grin and you couldn’t help but laugh as happy tears streaked down your face.
After the vows, the preacher announced the exchanging of the rings, then he said, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”
Loki eagerly grabbed you, his slender fingers running through your styled hair as he pulled you close. You wrapped your arms around him, gripping him tight. In seconds, cheers and whistles erupted from the crowd.
The two of you eventually let go of each other before you turned and faced everyone.
“Everyone, I am pleased to present, Loki Odinson and Y/N Odinson!” the preacher called happily and everyone jumped up, shouting, cheering, hooray-ing.
You two walked down the aisle as the photographers took several pictures before leading you to the area to get the portraits taken. Moments later, the bridal party was there to join you. After an hour of photos, you joined your guests at a quant area you’d had set up on the beach. The sun was still over the horizon, giving you plenty of time with everyone.
There was a dancefloor put in, with the dining tables surrounding it, as fantastic food was being served. The band announced your arrival with Loki, and said you’d be doing your first dance now.
The two of you danced to a song you’d heard on one of your dates. Then Tony, Bruce, Shannon, and several others joined you on the dancefloor. All of you danced for several hours. You shared a dance with several men you cared for, some of them were Clint Thor, Tom, Stephen, Tony, and Steve. Remy even cut in at one point, causing you to feel a mingling of happiness, relief, and guilt. He assured you he was having a good time, that you looked the most beautiful he’d ever seen, and he was happy to see you happy.
Thor and Shannon gave speeches, prompting both laughter and happy tears to go throughout the audience. Eventually, you threw your bouquet, to which Jean Grey caught it.
Tony walked up to you two. “Hey Y/N, I’m gonna steal your groom for a moment if you don’t mind?” Tony smiled sweetly at you. “I promise he’ll be back shortly”
“Bring him back in one piece, Tony,” you requested.
“Like I would harm a hair on my new brother-in-law’s head.” He winked.
The two men walked away to a quiet spot that overlooks the water and stood in silence before Tony spoke.
“Listen, Reindeer Gam--Loki, I just wanted us to start new,” he paused. “Like water under the bridge and to welcome you with open arms to this family.”
He made a face of suspicion. “I would actually like that. I appreciate it. I know how much Y/N loves Shannon and you, and I know it’d be easier on all of us if you and I could… Well, let the past stay in the past.”
“Yeah I think that would be best, especially with the kids who love you guys to death already.” He smiled, thinking of his two kids. “I’m not sure if Y/N’s told you this but I made a promise to her that I would do whatever it took to bring you back, She’s really important to Shannon and I know just now important you are to Y/N.” He pats Loki’s shoulder. “And believe me when I say this, it’s good to have you back man.”
“It’s extremely good to be back. You’ve raised some exceptional children. I look forward to getting to know them. Thank you for helping to get me back and keeping an eye on Y/N for me. I think I’ve had you pegged wrong for quite some time.” He patted Tony’s back. “By the way, I never got a chance to say I’m sorry about New York. Brainwashing and all that. It was never personal, you know that, right?”
“To be fair neither of us knew what the outcome would be for that, I never took it against you.” He looked over at his Brother-in-law. “Yeah people tend to do that often they think there isn't much else to me besides billionaire playboy genius, I would do anything for the ones I love much like you have.”
“Could’ve fooled me with the not taking it against me, seeing as you had me housed in your basement for two years,” Loki joked with a half grin.
Tony laughed remembering that. “It would’ve gone way worse if Shannon hadn't stepped in for you two. Those two years would have been in complete darkness away from Y/N’s side.” He got serious. “I know how much that would have affected you both.” He sighed.
Loki nodded. “You and Shannon are both… very kind people, and I am truly blessed to know you both and call you family. Thank you, for everything you’ve both done for me and Y/N, despite our pasts. I’m not sure how I’ll ever repay you.”
“No matter how bad things get for someone and whatever they had done it doesn’t change the fact that family is family. I’ve come to learn that myself through my life and we love you guys too”
The moment got interrupted when Peter ran up to his uncle, showing him some sparklers.
“Uncle Loki, look! I’m Doctor Strange!” He flailed his arms around.
Loki absolutely lost his mind seeing his nephew imitate the other man. He pulled out his phone, recording the boy and sent it to his former employer with a simple caption: “This is you”.Strange immediately received the message and just shook his head and continued to enjoy the festivity.
Tony knew in that moment that his son and his Uncle would get along great and would likely cause mischief together. Things were turning out better than he had imagined, never did the Tony Stark think he’d get married let alone settle down somewhere and have a family with the chaos that is his life. Even after everything that’s happened this was the least he deserved for risking his life to save everyone else.
Just before you and Loki were going to be sent off, Thor pulled you two aside, away from the partying. The three of you walked down the shore for a moment, before Thor finally said why he’d pulled you two aside.
“I have a wedding present for you, but I can’t give it to you just yet. You’ll have to wait until you get back from your honeymoon.”
“Mysterious,” you mused. “Have you taken a page from Loki’s book?” you teased, nudging Thor with your shoulder.
“Perhaps I have.”
“Thank you, Thor. I’m sure whatever it is, is most kind,” Loki sweetly said.
“It is, brother, thank you for noticing,” Thor replied and you rolled your eyes before linking arms with them to walk a little more.
Eventually, you three returned from your stroll, and at the end of the night the two of you were being sent off. Some people threw flower petals, others lit sparklers, the sorcerers you invited cast magical sparks your way. You and Loki ran under the send off, straight into a car that Tony had rented for the two of you.
You rolled down the window, blew a kiss to everyone, thanked them for coming, told them you loved having them there, then that was it. The car was in motion.
Off you went, on your honeymoon.

Tony, Rocket, and Bruce all worked on getting the stones on a glove. Once it was set, and it seemed safe, the main question was who was going to do the snap. Of course, you couldn’t wield the power, or Shannon. Thor offered himself up, but between you and Tony, you convinced him not to.
Bruce said that he would have to be the one who did it due to the gamma radiation and the Hulk’s actual size. Bruce had gotten a chance to sit Shannon down and explain to her what he planned on doing. He knew that it would potentially cause some damage so he asked her if she would use her healing ability so that whatever damage was done wasn’t permanent. She was wary of it all but knew she had to put aside what she wanted for the greater good to bring back her son and her parents as well.
As soon as it was decided that Hulk would wield the glove, everyone geared up, just in case his Hulk form went berserk. Tony, Rhodey, and Scott got their suits on. Clint got his arrows. Steve suited up. You and Shannon slipped into your fighting gear that had been adjusted by nanotech to properly fit her baby bump. You formed a forcefield around yourself. Tony ordered FRIDAY to activate the barn door protocol, to keep the compound safe, and to keep the rest of the city safe. Everyone was ready to face whatever happened or fight whatever happened.
Bruce transformed into Hulk, the lucid form of the Hulk and he put on the glove. The power surged over him, making everyone nervous, but after checking with him, he was able to get out that he was fine. He held on for a few seconds, then finally -- he snapped.
Then he collapsed. Tony and Shannon worked on healing Bruce’s arm, while the rest of the team tried to see if it worked.
Nothing seemed different for a second, but then Clint’s phone started to ring. It was a sign.
Hope, relief, joy, ecstasy flooded through you as you watched Scott go over to the window and see life outside of it.
“Guys, I think it worked!”
But in a flash of milliseconds, Hulk grabbed Shannon. Scott was blasted backwards. Hell, everyone was blasted.
The compound had been hit by a missile, several missiles in fact.
You fell forward before falling down into a hole one of the missiles had caused. For a second, you were disoriented as hell. Water was falling on you, debris and rubble were all around you. A large piece of the building was on top of you.
You looked over, trying to assess what the hell had just happened, when you saw Hulk struggling to keep part of the building up and protecting Shannon.
Rocket’s voice snapped you out of your confusion.
“I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe!” he gasped rapidly.
Immediately, you scrambled to your feet. Using your power to get the building of yourself, you got up, assessing any damage to yourself quickly. Then your purple power extended from your hand as you lifted the debris off Rocket. Next, your power flew to Hulk, helping him lift off the giant piece of building he’d been holding up.
“Can anyone hear me?” you spoke into the coms. You kneeled down beside Shannon to make sure she was okay as you spoke, but the water was flowing in fast. You knew if you didn’t get everyone out, and quickly, they’d drown. “There’s water filling down here. I’m going to go up and see what the hell that was. Does anyone copy?”
“I hear you,” Scott responded. “I’m on my way. I’ll get everyone out. You go.”
With one last check on Shannon, you soared up, flying high up. It took a second to navigate through the water falling on you, the debris settling, and all the jagged rods and beams sticking out, but finally, you broke through the top.
As you hovered in the air, you saw the last thing you’d ever want to see: Thanos - alive, and for lack of a better term, well. He wasn’t fucking dead, and that was the main issue.
The stones, where the hell were the stones?
Well, he didn’t have them. That was the main thing, and you needed to keep this purple sack of shit away from them at all costs. He had just kicked Steve across the wasteland that was the compound. The vibranium shield was broken in half. Steve was struggling to get up. You looked around and saw Thor laying on his side, and Tony’s suit immobile.
Suddenly, Thanos began talking, and you slowly hovered toward him, but he didn’t see you, you were just out of his field of vision.
“In all my years of conquest– violence– slaughter– It was never personal. But I'll tell you now– what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet– I'm gonna enjoy it. Very, very much.”
Just then, an army beamed down from the ship above. Hundreds of Thanos’s soldiers landed on the field before you. You landed in front of Steve, trying to protect him from Thanos and his army.
“And I’m going to enjoy killing you again, very much,” you mocked as you stared him down.
“Ah, Y/N. I find it hard to believe that you could’ve killed me. You couldn’t even take over a city with your pathetic excuse of a boyfriend,” he retorted, giving you a look as if he’d already won.
All you did was smirk before you replied, “Killing you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”
Your eyes glowed purple before you and Steve suddenly heard something, in the coms.
“Hey, Cap, you read me?”
It was Sam. For the first time in five years, it felt like you could breathe again.
You and Steve gave each other a confused look, looking around to see where he could possibly be.
“Cap, it's Sam. Can you hear me?” he repeated. “On your left.”
A portal began to form behind Steve and you stood dumbfounded at the sight. Dumbfounded, but relieved and elated all the same.
Out of the portal walked T’Challa, Okoye, and Shuri. A sight for sore eyes.
Steve looked and sounded as if he were about to cry from sheer elation, and to be honest, you thought you would too. You and Steve would go against Thanos alone if you had to, but God it felt great to know you had a chance, a real fighting chance with all of your friends behind you.
In the next second, Sam came flying out, and then suddenly, dozens of portals were opening all over behind you and Steve. Strange appeared with three other beings you’d never met, and then suddenly Peter swung through.
With every new person, your heart felt fuller and fuller.
Armies began walking out. The Asgardian Army, the Wakandan Army, the army of sorcerers.
Your eyes were scanning, searching, looking everywhere for one particular individual. You didn’t see him though and your happiness started to deflate. Just as you turned to look though, another portal opened in front of you, and out stepped your one and only.
“Did you miss me?” Loki breathed as he stood before you, in the flesh.
In that one instant, that one moment, all else stopped. You forgot about everything and everyone. You forgot where you were, what you were doing, who else was standing nearby - absolutely everything disappeared and he was all you could see.
It was all you could do to keep from ugly crying from happiness. You wanted to throw your arms around him, never let him go. But you knew you needed to focus.
Scott, Bruce, Shannon, Rocket, and Rhodey showed up. Wanda and Pietro appeared. Tony and Thor joined the ranks. Soon, everyone was back that had been wiped off the face of the earth.
You gave Loki a smile and a look full of love before you and Steve looked at each other, a glint of determination in both your faces before the two of you turned, flanking each other.
“Avengers...” Steve shouted and everyone got in their battle stance as Steve called for Mjoirnir. “Assemble!”
In the blink of an eye, hell broke loose on earth.
The Avengers army charged forward at Thanos Army. After just seconds, the armies collided.
You were flying in the air, trying to get to Thanos. He was your soul focus. But he was too far away.
As you were flying, flying monsters from Thanos’s army came right at you. Smaller aircraft were deployed from Thanos ship. You did your best to use your electric dark energy to blast the aircraft out of the sky and crash through the monsters, decapitating them as you went.
Your eyes couldn’t help but scan the field for your loved ones. Loki was doing excellently, navigating the field as if it were a ballroom. He cut, slashed, punched, and dodged. Shannon stayed in the air, mainly healing anyone from above. Remy charged debris and cards, throwing objects as fast as he could, using his staff for close combat. Tony took to the air as did Wanda and Stephen, doing very well and staying out of most of the ground fight, which was good. Your eyes found Bucky and Steve, and you were nervous for them, worried, but you knew they could handle themselves. T’Challa and Sam were fighting fiercely. Thor was using lightning and his axe, full of rage and fury.
Everyone was fighting the fight of their life.
But you needed to focus on Thanos so he didn’t get the --
You internally gasped, glancing around. Where were the stones? Where was Clint? Did he have them?
Tony had been flying about fighting from section to section when he was surrounded by a few of Thanos’ goons blasting them with his hand thrusters. He became unaware of the enormous being that was coming towards him from behind, smacking him into a pile of debris in that instant he managed to turn and was using the blasters when the creature gets pulled back by the synthetic webbing that Peter had created and the monster was killed by giant Scott. Peter rushed up to Tony and began rapidly talking.
“Hey! Holy cow! You will not believe what's been going on. Do you remember when we were in space? And I got all dusty? I must've passed out, Because I woke up, and you were gone. But Doctor Strange was there, right? He was like, ‘It's been five years. Come on, they need us.’ And then he started doing the yellow sparkly thing that he does all the time–” Peter was caught off guard.
The entire time that he was talking, Tony was astounded about how unfazed the kid was being about the whole situation. The more he heard the kid talking the more emotional he got knowing that they had brought them back. Scrunching his face a little he got closer.
“Okay kid, hold me.” Tony pulled Peter close and held him tight.
“What are you doing?” he sounded a little confused but welcomed the much awaited hug. “Ohh, this is nice” and hugs the older man tighter.
“Mrs. Stark, it appears that your son and your husband are embracing each other,” TADASHI announced.
“Are they in a safe spot?” Shannon asked her AI.
“Yes they are safe,” came the Japanese accent.
Monsters of all sizes and kinds were flying at you, trying to keep you from getting to Thanos. Proxima jumped up on a rock, and launched herself at you from the side. You didn’t see her coming and she slammed you out of the sky. You went rolling along the debris.
You coughed as you got to your feet quickly, Proxima making her way toward you. You were shaking your head. You had to kill her...again?
Why did you all have to kill and fight people you’d already defeated once before? This was just insult to injury.
“Ready to fail again?” she asked with a smirk.
“Ready to die again?” was all you said before you charged your hands, shot out your purple electric energy and it kept her still. You were just about to kick up the voltage, hopefully stopping her heart, before suddenly her eyes went wide and she gasped, her chest moving forward.
You frowned, leaving your power on her, but then you saw blood trickle out of her mouth. You let your power stop, confused by why she was bleeding. But when she dropped to her knees, you realized why.
Loki stood behind her, wiping his knife on his pants.
“Thought you could use some help,” he smugly responded and all you could do was smile and shake your head. Oh how you’d missed him.
“I didn’t, but I appreciate you trying to help me,” you assured with a stunning smile.
Suddenly Clint’s voice was in your ear though, pulling you from the trance you’d been in.
“Cap, what do you want me to do with this damn thing?” he asked.
Your eyes searched the battlefield but from where you were, you couldn’t see him.
“Get those stones as far away as possible!” Steve replied with a harsh grunt.
“No! We need to get them back where they came from,” Bruce responded from somewhere on the battleground.
“No way to get them back. Thanos destroyed the quantum tunnel.” Tony’s voice came through everyone's earpiece.
“Hold on!” Scott huffed and shrunk to normal size and pulled out a remote. “That wasn't our only time machine.” Scott pressed the button, which activated Luis's van's horn, which was heard from afar.
Hearing so, Cap went to higher ground. “Anyone see an ugly, brown van up there?” Steve asked.
“Yes! But you're not gonna like where it's parked!” came Valkyrie from high above.
“Scott, how long do you need to get that thing working?” Tony managed to ask.
“Maybe ten minutes.” He hid behind a piece of debris.
“Get it started. We'll get the stones to you.”
Hope had landed next to Scott and took a breather.
“We're on it, Cap,” Hope responded for Scott. She turned to him and smiled and started flying.
Scott and Hope were on their way to the other time machine, trying to repair it while Clint ran across the field, trying to get it to them. You shot in the air, about to try and help him, or at least stop Thanos from getting to it.
Before you could locate him though, T’Challa asked Clint for the gauntlet. At his voice, you finally found the two of them. T’Challa took off like the speed of light. He was able to dodge shots and blows from several of Thanos’s soldiers. He landed with a large blast knocking several enemies back, but then Thanos sword came flying at T’Challa, dislodging the gauntlet from his grasp.
Terror overtook you and you were just about to fly down to protect the stones when Wanda beat you to it. She landed between Thanos and the gauntlet, a white hot rage burning in her expression. You couldn’t help but feel pride and sympathy.
“You took everything from me,” she stated darkly.
“I don’t even know who you are,” he responded defiantly.
“You will,” she vowed before slowly rising in the air, bringing along several pieces of debris with her.
For a split second, you wondered if she’d even need your help. Maybe Wanda would finish Thanos right here and now.
She launched objects at him that were the size of buildings. He just took the brunt of it and kept coming toward her before she fired shot after shot of her power at him.
Then you suddenly remembered the stones. Your gaze shot to the gauntlet where T’Challa was running towards.
Ebony Maw had picked up the earth where the gauntlet was and T’Challa was trying to grab it, but Maw used the earth to slow him down, trapping him.
“Hey, Maw!” you shouted, hoping to get his attention. You charged several stones nearby and slung them at Maw quickly. He deflected some of them, but at least his concentration was broken for a second, just enough time to let Peter Parker dive at the stones and grab the gauntlet.
Maw glared at you angrily, realizing what you’d just cost him. He threw earth, stones, debris at you, but you just put up your shield made of your birth power - Bio-Kinetic energy. Anger flared through you. You had failed once, been too distracted before, not again - never again.
With a surge of energy, you picked up debris and threw it at Maw and while he was distracted dodging it, your other hand came up, your power wrapping around his throat, the dark energy clenching tightly. He tried to launch objects at you to stop you, but your forcefield surrounded you and every object that hit you just disintegrated.
“Goodbye, Maw,” you said with dark happiness. You squeezed a little tighter and he went limp. You dropped him on the field, happy to be rid of another obstacle.
Peter Parker was jumping and slinging webs as fast as he humanly could to get away from the creatures from Thanos’ army. He had gotten far enough to activate instant kill mode. “Uhhh I could use a little help here, anyone?” Peter sounded distraught.
“I’m coming, Peter, hold on!” came Shannon’s voice through his gear. She flew as fast as she could. With the help of her AI Tadashi she managed to locate him and stop the creatures from coming too close to him. “Peter, on my mark, jump!” she yelled.
Soon enough, she was just above him and he jumped, latching his spider legs onto her suit.
“Thank you! Ms. Moran.” He sighed in a bit of relief while hugging the gauntlet.
“No worries, Peter and it’s Mrs. Stark.” Shannon giggled. “Alright, I’m sending you up with Valkyrie, ready?”
“Ready!”
He got thrown into the air and was caught by Valkyrie and off they went on her flying horse.
Just as you finished killing Maw, you looked around to see where Thanos was, if Wanda had made any progress on killing him or stopping him. Yet, when you glanced to where they were before, Thanos was in the air as Wanda slowly ripped away his armor. He ordered a “rain fire” command, but Corvus argued with him against it saying it would harm the troops on their side as well as your side. Thanos demanded he do it anyway.
In one second, shots came raining down from the ship, hitting anywhere and everywhere. It knocked Wanda back as well as hit multiple people on the field. Your hope fell away as Wanda flew back, far away from Thanos. When Wanda was pushed back, it broke her hold on Thanos.
The sorcerers tried to act quickly to shield those that they could from the blasts. Then two seconds later, one of the shots hit the edge of the lake, and water came crashing in, threatening to flood the whole battlefield.
“Uhh, guys don’t mean to interrupt but the lake water is going to flood this area if we don’t do something soon!” Shannon announced while trying to keep her eyes on Peter.
Stephen took notice and flew over quickly before the water could hurt anyone. He began whirling the water into what appeared to be a water cyclone to keep it contained. You shook your head, wondering why he didn’t just lift the old debris up to keep it held back so he could fight too, but now wasn’t the time to argue with him.
Your sight reset on Thanos now. He wasn’t fighting anyone, and the gauntlet was still out there.
Peter had it and he was struggling. “I got this. I got this!” he yelled as he shot a web and glided along.
You were trying to decide whether to help Peter or stop Thanos. Your heart was racing. Seconds mattered, every second meant something. You didn’t have time to debate this for long. Finally, you made the executive decision to stop Thanos - several people could help Peter, but only a few of you could stop Thanos.
“Shannon, I’m going after Thanos. Peter needs help, I can’t get to him,” you told her, knowing she would be there to help him in an instant.
“Tadashi, scan the area for Peter. I need to know where he is,” she called for the AI.
“He’s still up in the air. They are getting close to the van, Mrs. Stark.”
“Alright turn on the thrusters.” From there she jetted to where they were. She was just about to get there but one of the ships snapped his webbing and he was rapidly falling. Thankfully the iron spider suit he was wearing had protected him from any of the harsh blows from the debris.
All she could hear were his screams and grunts as he fell. She got there just in time to shield him from the blast that had been far too close to her liking.
“Okay, I don’t got this. Help! Somebody help!” was all that anyone close could hear. “Ahh!” he yelled in panic.
“Peter! Are you okay?” she asked, letting her helmet retract so she could get a closer look. Her eyes began tearing up, seeing him standing there all bruise. “Oh, my son! You’re back. I’ve missed you so much.” She helped him stand and pulled him in for a hug.
“Hi there, Mrs. Stark, it’s good to see you—-” He got out once he steps back. “Wait, what do you mean by son?” he looked confused. “I mean I do see both you and Mr. Stark like family but—” he got cut off.
“There’s so much that I need to tell you, but this isn’t the time nor the place.” She smoothed his hair back, a few stray tears going down her cheek. “When all of this is over you, me, and Tony will have a talk okay?”
“Mrs. Stark, don’t cry. Things will turn out right, I know it will.” He tried to cheer her up. “Are you sure you should be here though?” He started looking around hoping that no enemy was near. “Am I in trouble?” he instantly got nervous when he heard about having a chat with the three of them.
“Don’t worry, you’re not in trouble, Peter.” She ruffled his hair and he smiled sheepishly.
Soon enough more enemies started to approach and between the two they were able to diminish the numbers of them but more kept showing up. Shannon knew she had to keep Parker safe at all costs so she managed to connect all her powers together and send a surge of thunder and things to kill a large diameter of the enemies.
Just as you locked eyes on Thanos and set out for him though, the shooting from above stopped. Everyone halted on the battlefield, wondering what had happened. The shots didn’t stop though - they were redirected towards the sky, the clouds.
You frowned, confused. Your eyes met Steve’s, then Remy’s. Everyone had the same look you did -- utter confusion.
After a few people muttered their bewilderment and then soon it was easily realized why the ship had changed its aim.
Carol Danvers had just entered the battlefield.
She crashed through the ship, disabling it, and slammed through it again for good measure. The ship powered down and fell into the lake.
Everyone took a moment to shout with joy but it was far from over. Carol flew through the area looking for Peter and the Gauntlet.
“We’re over here, Carol,” came Shannon’s voice.
Carol landed, looking at him with a smile. “Hey I’m Peter Parker,” he introduced himself while hugging the gauntlet.
“Hey, Peter Parker. Got something for me?” She cocked her head.
He walked and lowered the stones, looking to the oncoming horde. “I don’t know how you’re going to get it through all of that,” he said in an exhausted tone.
Shannon and all the over women gather up. Wanda on his left.
“Don’t worry,” Wanda assured.
“She’s got help,” Okoye appeared on his right and you in front of them.
You stood shoulder to shoulder with the other women of the field as all of Thanos’s army charged towards all of you. Carol’s mission was to get the stones to the time machine. The rest of the women were to get the army off of Carol, clear her a path. Yours was to keep Thanos from getting to Carol.
Taking flight, you rocketed toward Thanos, who saw you, he was about to throw his sword your way, but something else sharp sliced your side, sending a searing pain up your right side. You began falling towards the Earth, glancing to see who hit you as you did so. Right before you landed, you saw Corvus smirking at you. When you hit, blood shot out of your side and you wheezed.
Get up, you ordered yourself. Monsters and soldiers were running at you but you held out both arms, charging items and throwing them and using your electrical power to knock them back. In a way, all you had done was clear a path so Covrus could run at you. He had picked up his spear, raising it high above his head before throwing it at you.
You rolled out of the way and onto your feet in one movement. A flash of anger went through Corvus as he jabbed at you again and again. All you were doing was dodging his shots before finally, you used one hand to grab the spear when he shot it towards you. He looked at you in surprise, but you used the hand on the spear to charge it until it blasted him off the end of it, sending him flying backwards. You charged the spear and launched it at him with all your force. It hit him square in the chest.
One second after he was dead, you remembered you needed to get to Thanos, to stop him from getting the stones, but when you looked up to find him, your blood ran cold.
Thanos had been slowed down by Hope, Shuri, and Shannon’s blasts, but then he resorted to another way to stop Carol. He threw his weapon straight into the time machine, causing an explosion that knocked nearly everyone on the battlefield.
You were too far away to help, but you saw that Carol had lost the gauntlet. Thanos made a move toward the glove, but Tony was nearby. He slammed into Thanos hard enough to knock him away from the gauntlet for a second, but Thanos, filled with wild rage, hit Tony -- your blood boiled at the sight.
Thor landed in front of the gauntlet, swinging furiously at Thanos. He swung his axe towards Thanos’s head and neck, but Thanos caught it. Thor summoned Mjorner, trying to brace the axe to push it towards Thanos’s neck. It looked like he was winning, but needed some help. Steve ran up and dove on the back of Thanos.
Thanos somehow shoved the weapons away from him, headbutted Thor, and threw Steve off of him, slamming his giant fist into Steve’s sternum, effectively knocking him out.
If your blood wasn’t already on fire from the attack on Tony, you were absolutely enraged now.
Immediately, you began flying towards them. You darted towards him, trying to fight monsters and soldiers as you went, shielding yourself from any other weapons that may be launched at you.
Thanos made towards the gauntlet, he had it in his hand, but Carol made it to him in time. She caved in his knee, punched him in the face, threw blasts of energy at him, dodged his blows, he grabbed her arm and threw her far away.
Come on, you screamed internally, pushing yourself harder.
Thanos put the glove on and your body felt hot, cold, numb. Every emotion raged through you like an ocean had hit you.
He raised his hand and went to snap. You were almost there. You could almost get him!
Not again, not again, not again!
Carol was suddenly back, her hands forcing Thanos’s hand open, preventing him from snapping. She pushed on the gauntlet hard, then pushed even harder, forcing him on one knee, bending his fingers so far back you were praying they were going to break. He tried to headbutt her, fight her, punch her, but her energy field was too strong.
Thanos suddenly grabbed the power stone and he held it in his other hand. He closed his fist around it, and punched Carol, sending her far away.
For the briefest of seconds, you felt failure, that it had happened again. He was going to win.
He put the powerstone back in the gauntlet, he was acclimating to the power of the glove, he said, “I am… inevitable.”
But then, you were there, right next to him. The hope, anger, fear, joy, all of it had returned.
Just before he could snap though, your dark energy wrapped around the gauntlet forcing it open.
“No,” you all but snarled.
Thanos stared at you with wide eyes, and he tried to punch you, much like he did with Carol, but your shield protected you.
Then your power bled onto him, starting from his hand, to his arm, then finally all over his body. Purple electricity snaked around his body. You lifted him off the ground.
Your voice was full of pure malice and power, as you said, “You see, Thanos? When you take away your weapons--” your power peeled off the gauntlet from his hand “--and your armor--” your power pulled his armor off piece by piece, ensuring to wrap your power around his neck as you did so “--and your power…”
He floated there, in nothing more than a shirt and pants, his eyes squeezing shut from the pain around his neck and body as your power slowly squeezed him tighter like a boa constrictor. You slammed him into the ground, on his knees, so he could look over and see Tony, who had the stones.
“You’re nothing more than a man,” you said. “You’ll never hurt my family or this world again,” you vowed as you stared at him, and he at you.
Keeping Thanos in place with your purple, electric energy, you walked over to Tony, taking his left hand and holding it. You let your red bio-kinetic energy flow into Tony. It would help him so he didn’t have to take the full force of the stones. You knew your body could bear it, thanks to the power of the mind stone, and you knew by charging his body cells to their full potential, he could withstand the power even more.
One arm, one power flowing out of each as Shannon came over to constantly heal Tony, so that the power didn’t kill him.
It felt like you were being ripped in half. The pain was almost unbearable. Thanos was strong, and it took every ounce of your energy, power, and concentration to hold him back as well as not letting the stones completely kill you or Tony.
Shannon had been forcing her healing powers onto Tony. When her body began to feel the distress from the babies, she took a deep breath and calmed herself, focusing on keeping her husband and her sister healed. So you two could do what needed to be done, so that things went how they needed them to go.
“You almost had it there, buddy, but guess what?” He stopped in front of him and crouched down. “Out of all the possibilities there was only one shot at winning this and you know why?”
He looked around and saw everyone that had been dusted and was back. He looked towards his wife and his son and the family he formed within the Avengers.
“Tony, I can’t push my powers any further.” She looked to him, seeing just exactly what the gauntlet was doing to him and you. “Gahh!” she screamed from the exhaustion.
“Shannon!” both you and Bruce yelled.
“Because this wasn’t inevitable and I.. am.. Ironman!” he shouted and snapped his fingers.
Thanos looked on in despair as his troops began to fade into the air. At the very end when he is the only one left, he said, “This wasn’t supposed to end like this.” With that, he had become a pile of dust blown away a moment later.
“Holy shit,” you breathed out weakly before falling to your hands and knees, trying to catch your breath. That ordeal just took everything out of you.
Looking back to where both Tony and you were at, Shannon could see the power of the gauntlet. Raw energy had left most of his right side injured. He stumbled for a bit before his body collapsed beside a pile of debris. Rhodey soon flew in and went up to Tony to see his long time colleague and friend laying there in pain. Soon after Peter flew in and ran to his mentor.
“Mr. Stark? Hey- Mr. Stark” he stopped for a moment. “Can you hear me? It's Peter. Hey. We won, Mr. Stark– We won, Mr. Stark. We won. You did it, sir. You did it.” He broke down and hugged him.
“Alright kid, alright I know,” he patted the kid on the back. “Come on, breathe, I’m not dead, okay?” he tried to joke.
Shannon walked over with the help of Bucky. He had been told that she was pregnant and had used up most of her energy to keep them all alive.
“Thank you, Bucky.” She kissed his cheek.
“No problem, doll.” He smiled and walked back to Steve’s side. “Hey, babe,” Tony hoarsely got out. “We did it.”
She sat next to him and leaned her head on his left side. “Yeah we did, now how about we all go back to the cabin to clean up and eat?” she suggested. “The babies starting to get too active.” She grabbed his hand and put it on her belly.
“Oh boy, those kids got energy!” He laughed. “I don’t know how you managed to fight here with us today while carrying these little miracles.” He kissed her cheek lovingly.
“Get a room!” you teased as you walked up to the pair and offered your hands to get them to stand.
“Hey, we have and it made you an aunt, didn’t it?” He smirked. “Alright, FRIDAY, see if there’s any quinjets left to get us all home.”
“Right away boss.” It took a moment. “There seems to be 3 quinjets still fully functioning, sir.”
“Alright you heard the AI, let’s get our butts into those jets and head back to their home.” Steve ever the team leader.

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 64)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:2655
Warnings: Language, dark moment for reader, 5 yrs after the snap, grief, anger, killing spree, new love, endgame plot, enter Uncle Wade Wilson,hope, worry, Song for this part: Cruel Summer- Taylor swift Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels).
Masterlist for Unforeseen Chasm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Don’t kill me, I have family,” the man begged.
“So did I.”
You charged the knife and flung it at his head, stabbing him between the eyes instantly killing him.
That was the last of one of the cartels in Brazil. He was a ruthless, horrible man that you’d been tracking for two months. Him and about ten others who worked for him. But you’d just single handedly killed all ten of them in their warehouse.
About eight months ago, you ran into Clint Barton. Apparently, when the snap happened, he lost his entire family and went off the deep end like you did. He was filled with bitter rage. Wondering why monsters like this survived and his family was gone. You were both tracking the same people and when you found each other, you agreed to stay together. It made sense and both of you felt like it was nice to see a familiar face with a similar past and same vendetta.
Remy followed you everywhere. He stayed in horrible hotels and motels, just to follow you around. Sometimes he followed you on your missions, lingering in the shadows making sure you didn’t get hurt or need backup. You and Clint sometimes fought together, so he wasn’t too worried, but other times you two worked separate jobs or different jobs in the same area, and that’s when Remy would watch out for you.
You came back to the room you’d rented. Since the job was done, you’d pack, sleep, and move onto the next target you’d talked about with Clint. Remy stayed out of the way of you two, never saying or offering any judgment or criticism. He understood the path you two were on. He didn’t like it, and he didn’t think it was bringing you much joy, but this was what you wanted, and to be honest, the world was better without the people you were killing.
By now it had been five years since the snap. Your first year was filled with global travel then settling down in New Orleans. The second year you tried to find domestic bliss with Remy, the two of you having steady jobs. Then the last 3 years were filled with hate, rage, murder, vendettas.
What you did… what you were doing… it didn't bring you joy, but it made you feel better for a split second that horrible people weren't ruining good people's lives.
Remy had been great since the day he showed up in Paris. He had been understanding of Loki and never pressured you to move on. Remy understood where he stood in your heart and he accepted it because this was all he had wanted for many years. He wished he didn't have to watch you suffer and grieve to get to this point, he somehow wished things were different in that he was your first choice and not Loki. But ultimately, he respected your heart's desires.
Truthfully, you did love Remy. You had told Shannon what seemed like centuries ago that perhaps in another life where you didn't know Loki existed or had never met him, Remy would be your one and only. Now that Loki was gone though, it felt so wrong. It felt wrong to be happy, to even think of moving on, to even entertain the idea of loving another.
Half of you couldn’t imagine moving on without Loki - he was your life, your life, your world. He’s the one you wanted to share your life with. The other half felt guilty to experience any happiness, because it was your fault the world was the way it was. Why should you get a happy ending when it was your fault everyone was in this living Hell?
But your heart doesn’t listen to logic or reason. You didn’t mean to fall in love...
This had been on your mind for quite some time. Perhaps right after he almost proposed was when you started to really take notice of him. But it wasn't until maybe three months ago, almost five years after the snap, that you felt like you could maybe allow yourself to love him back.
You weren't ready to give up on Loki, or even consider moving on, but perhaps there was room enough for more than one love in your heart.
Remy had been nothing but kind, sweet, understanding, and supportive. He let you grieve and deal with things the way you needed to. If you ever asked for space, or pulled away from a kiss, he didn't get upset or disappointed. He'd just assure you it was alright. He was with you, day in and day out, practically since the snap happened. Without him, you weren’t sure you would’ve survived this long.
After all that, and everything you went through as children together, how could you not love him?
Simple: you did.
“How’d it go?” Remy asked once you got inside the hotel room. He was reading a magazine at a bar in the little kitchenette the place offered.
“Job’s finished,” you answered simply.
“So it’s Japan next?”
“Yep.”
You started to grab some quick food to make yourself some dinner. “I’m sorry to do this to you. To drag you all over the world for some… vendetta.”
“It’s alright. I know why you have to do it,” he assured.
Tears rolled down your cheeks as you smiled, pulling the food from the cabinet. Something in you told you he needed to know how you felt. That it was the right time, if there ever was a right time.
It was time to face the harsh reality that Loki wasn’t coming back. None of them were. You couldn’t live every day in his memory, drowning in grief and depression. It was time to move forward, as hard as it was, you knew it was the right decision. And doing it with Remy wouldn’t be so bad, right? He was a wonderful man with a big heart.
"For whatever it's worth, I love you, ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?” you asked through tears as you turned around to face him, a bit of a laugh coming out of you.
He looked up grinning like the devil. “I think that’s the best news I ever heard,” he countered, getting up to round the bar before he took you in a hug. “I know that was hard for you to say, cher, but I love you all the more for it,” he assured softly as he brushed his knuckles across your face.
You gently smiled before giving him a quick kiss.
It looked like this was the start to the beginning of a new chapter for you.
---------------------------------
You were in Japan now, taking care of one of the mafia that had been in power for decades here. You just decimated one of their safehouses, leaving a pile of bodies behind you. Clint was digging up more information at the moment and he would take the next hit on the mob.
Just as you grabbed Remy to go find some dinner, you two were walking down the street, it was wet from a recent rainstorm when you suddenly heard someone say your name from behind you as they grabbed your hand.
“Y/N Y/L/N?” Wade said. “Of course your Y/N who am I kidding”. He went to pull your hand.
The sudden action made you move reflexively.
As you spun, you charged his hand and as he pulled away to gasp in pain, you mustered up your dark electrical purple energy in your left fist and slammed it into his chest, the heel of your palm colliding with his sternum. It sent him flying backwards into a cart on the sidewalk. You straightened up before glancing back to Remy, confusion on your face.
“You’re not exactly friendly, are you?” the man asked as you stared at him. He was getting up, wiping the debris off himself. He was clad in a red and black suit from head to toe. “Should have known better than to try that.” His tone had a sort of whimsy to it , almost as if he was telling a joke.
“Who the hell are you?” you all but growled, your fist raised and still glowing.
Remy came up behind you though and gently lowered your arm. “Cher, I know this man.”
“You know him?” you accused, as if knowing this idiot was an inexcusable offense.
“Unfortunately, yes. This is Wade Wilson. He’s an X-Man,” Remy explained.
“Correction I am not an X-men,” he offers his hand. “Deadpool’s the name killing’s my game.” He pretended to curtsey.
Your eyes shot back to the man now known as Wade and you narrowed your gaze. “Why are you here? What do you want with me?”
“First of all, let me just say wow about that little trick of yours. Also to be fair, you overreacted,” he quipped.
“Overreacted? Some stranger just grabbed my hand. You're lucky I didn’t kill you. Now what the hell are you doing here?”
“Listen here, buttercup, I’m here on a favor of Shannon Stark. Remember her?”
Your mouth fell open slightly. “You know Shannon?”
“Yeah, we go way back!” He waved his hand. “I babysit her kid time from time but the point is, she wanted me to find you, to bring you home. She’s worried about you or something. I wasn’t really listening. I just owe her a favor so I got the gist of the mission and then said, ‘You owe me one hundred chimichangas and not the cheap stuff because I know Stark can afford the nice ones so don’t even think about skimping on --”
“Do you ever stop talking?” you interjected, glaring at him. “Wait, did you say Shannon’s kid?” This hit you like a wrecking ball.
Shannon had a child? There was… she… a child? You couldn’t wrap your head around it.
“No, he doesn’t,” Remy responded as he stared him down. “Wade, go on home now. Y/N and I don’t wanna go back. We’re happy and we are on our own.”
“Yeah see that wasn’t really part of the contract. I’m supposed to bring you back and --”
“Sorry to disappoint, but you can’t bring me back, I’m not going.”
“You’re gonna break Shannon’s heart,” he said with fake sadness.
“I already did, but nice try.” You turned and started to walk away.
“Well too bad because I don’t take no for an answer so gear up, we’re heading back now.” He went to pick you up. “And don’t try doing that little trick of yours again. Shannon said to bring you back but she didn't say in what condition.” Deadpool smirked.
“I already told you, asshat, I’m not going anywhere with you,” you replied and jumped back flaring up your purple energy. “You can just tell her you haven't found me.”
“Well it looks like that won’t be necessary. See the thing is she already knows you’re here.” Wade sing-songs. “When you weren't looking, I sent coordinates and they had been on standby.”
“You what?!” you all but shouted, terror snaking in your voice. “Remy, we have to go.” You started to turn and grab his sleeve.
Unbeknownst to you, Shannon had already gotten there and was waiting for the moment to appear.
“Are you really going to be a sack of unicorn shit and just break her heart like that?” Wade asked, cocking his head. “So much for being a good sister.”
Feeling guilty you turned to him. “She’s survived without me for this long I’m sure she’s more than fine.” You shook her head. “And what's a little heartbreak when she’s fine?”
Just then Shannon walked out of the alley she and Natasha had been waiting in. Both women went their separate ways. Shannon to you and Nat to Clint.
“So you’re really okay with breaking my heart after everything we’ve been through?” Shannon called out loud enough for you to hear. “What happened to being family?”
The sound of her voice cut you like a knife.
“You’ve got your own family now, it sounds like. I thought you’d be better off without me, and it appears I was right.” You let your hands span out beside you before falling, a sad smile on your face.
“Y/N, you’ve been gone for 5 years! You have no idea what's happened in that time.” She shook her head. “We may have found a way to reverse what Thanos did, but we need you—I need you.” She stretched her hand out to you.
“Sorry to ruin the moment but I’ve done my part,” Wade interrupted the moment. “Now when do I get my chimichangas?”
You eyed Wade for a moment, irritated with him after only five minutes. Then your gaze shot to Shannon’s hand.
“Really, Wade? Couldn’t this wait till after we got back?” Shannon asked, looking a little annoyed. “Plus they’re at the cabin, hidden because you got Morgan addicted to those!” she retorted.
Sheepish, he ducked his head. “It’s not my fault the kid hasn't tried all the good stuff.” Shrugging, he added, “It’s not like they’ll harm her anyways.”
“Just get back to the quinjet.” Shannon turned her head facing you again as Wade retreated. “Sorry about that, he can be a lot to handle sometimes.”
“Clearly. Much like, was it, Morgan? A child? You have a child?” There was venom and betrayal in your voice. Although, to be fair, she had no way to reach out to you to give you any news. That was on you.
“We can talk all about it, if you come back with me.”
“Why do you need me?” you questioned.
“It’s an all hands on deck sort of situation. You’re just about the only one who stands a chance against him.”
“But last time--”
“Last time was different. We know what we’re up against now. There may be a way to reverse it. To get everyone back.”
Tears pricked at your eyes. You hadn’t cried over Loki in some time. He was on your mind, every day, always, but the grief laden sobs had slowly died down over the last five years.
“Don’t promise something you can’t deliver,” you warned, your fist balled up. You could tell Remy was getting worried at your side. “I can’t go through this again.”
She stepped even closer to you, taking your hand. “You won’t. We will win this time. I promise. You need to come home, Y/N. It’s time.”
You looked back to Remy who gave you a look that told you this was your choice, your call. You knew he’d follow you anywhere, no matter what you chose.
You heaved a sigh and turned back to Shannon, giving a firm nod to let her know you were in. This is what you’d been waiting for. Now it was finally here, and even if it meant possibly losing everything again, going through the same pain again, it was worth it to try and get everyone back. To get him back.
Once everyone was back on the quinnjet. Things got a bit quieter. You had fallen asleep, leaning on Remy. Shannon walked over to the two of you and covered you in a blanket.
“Here, she’ll get cold soon, she always does when she’s on here.” She smiled sadly seeing just how tired and bruised you looked. “I’ll let Tony know you’ll be staying with us. Did you want to share the room with Y/N or your own?” she asked, unsure of the situation.
“We can share a room, that'll be fine. Thank you, Shannon. It’s good to see you again.”
“Okay. Is there anything you guys might need right away? It’s good to see you too.”
Remy shook his head. “Nah, we should be good. Thank you though.”
“Alright then but if anything comes to mind let me know okay?”
“Will do.”
Unforeseen Chasm (Part 1)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count: 2191
Warnings: Language,
Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels). It’s a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It started as a funny “What if...?” and it evolved and got huge. This took two years to write. We are both proud and happy and we hope you enjoy it. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once in a lifetime, and sometimes not even then, people meet someone who can be described as their better half. The person who knows them better than anyone. The person who completes them. Sometimes it can be found in a lover, or a sibling, or sometimes...once in a blue moon, it can be found in just a friend -- a stranger you cross paths with one day. A stranger that eventually means more to you than anyone else in the world.
That’s how it was for you and Shannon.
It was freshman year of college when she walked into your life. The two of you were set together as roommates. She had a touch of pluckiness to her, drive that you’d never witnessed, intelligence that rivaled yours, and a take no shit attitude.
Of course, she was shy at first, so were you. But within just a few minutes, you realized that you two were destined to be best friends. Her major lied in anatomical mutation and molecular engineering with a minor in foreign language. Meanwhile, you majored in physics and engineering, minoring in Norse mythology.
Shannon definitely teased you for that. She wondered why or how you would ever need that, but your reasoning was simply that you enjoyed it. If you were going to spend thousands upon thousands studying something for a career for the rest of your life, the least you could do was study one thing that was a little different that fascinated you, even if was just for four years.
Your areas of study may have overlapped, but your upbringing didn’t. Shannon had parents, who loved her, and according to her “sent her to a prestigious academy to refine all skills”. And you saw these skills in the way she moved, talked, carried herself, and focused her skills. She was all things a lady should be. In fact, she did so well in this so called “Red Room”, that Howard Stark (founder of Stark Industries) caught wind of her accomplishments and decided to invest further in her. He gave her a full ride scholarship to any college she wanted, to study whatever she wanted. He thought maybe, one day, she might be of use to his son Tony.
In fact, they became good friends too. Tony and Shannon, that is. He was a few years older than her, but he helped her with her work, and became curious as to why Shannon was always hanging around his dad’s company. It didn’t take a genius to see why Shannon was selected -- she was elite, one of a kind.
You on the other hand, you were the nerd. The little bit dorky type. All you ever really loved was science, math, technology. You were raised by foster parents, but they weren’t the greatest. They didn’t ever give you any attention past making sure the foster money cleared for you. The only person you had was Remy, another boy that lived in the foster family with you. Kids were in and out of that house for years, but you and Remy seemed to stay, that is, until you left for college. College was where you met Shannon and her family, and ever since then, Shannon’s family was now your family, making you far closer to Shannon than you’d ever been to anyone besides Remy. You went to her house for holidays, even met with Tony a handful of times.
Once the two of you graduated college and decided on grad school, you didn’t want to separate. Four years of living together had made you two almost inseparable. Not wanting to lose each other just yet, you grabbed an apartment only thirty minutes away from your graduate school. Graduate school was surprisingly a breeze, and when you completed it, the two of you moved into a studio apartment together.
After being best friends for nearly a decade, you got a dog together, both of you animal lovers and you thought it might add some more character to your home. And he certainly did.
While the both of you, yes, were involved in STEM, for the most part, your paths slightly diverged.
After graduation from graduate school for both of you, Tony Stark offered a job to Shannon at his company as his assistant. She would help oversee nearly every operation, invention, gizmo, gadget. All of it, would be under her supervision. Through this, she became good friends with Dr. Bruce Banner, and Tony, being at the labs day in and day out with them.
It was actually in those labs that her… well… accident happened. A lab malfunction caused a chemical gas to react with her molecular structure causing a strange reaction. By strange you meant, well, unusual. She developed a mutation, but not like a third eye, or another pinky. No, she gained the ability to manipulate the weather and drain people of their powers. It was the most magnificent thing to watch. She accidentally discovered her powers at home, in the kitchen, and you witnessed it, but you swore yourself to secrecy for her. You could never hurt her and betray her like that.
Tony knew, of course, because he had to help her figure out what was wrong with her. And Bruce was an expert in lab experiments gone wrong. Between those two helping her control her powers, and your emotional support, she was just like a normal person -- until you pissed her off.
Just another crowning jewel on an already nearly perfect woman. She was the epitome of a femme fatale -- beautiful, genius, deadly, and powerful beyond human strength.
As for you? Your work placed you in the field. Your physics took you to some crazy locations and you picked up work wherever you could find it. You loved physics, you were good at it, damned good. But you weren’t winning nobel prizes, you weren’t heading huge projects for Stark Industries, you weren’t getting offers from MIT for research. No, you were scrounging for contract jobs, for little pick me ups with NASA. It wasn’t that you didn’t like it, or that you were desperate for work. People knew of your work, you spoke at conferences, you were in high demand.
But by your dumb luck, it wasn’t you that ended up with the glitz, glam, and glory that came from working for Stark.
For the last few months you’d been in the field with Jane Foster - a highly respected physicist -- with barely any funding. The two of you could barely split the research grant you’d been given and you had to hire an intern. You were all the way out in New Mexico while Shannon was still in NYC, living the dream. You missed her like crazy, but this work you were doing was important… At least that's what you kept telling yourself…
---------------------
Jane and you had set up camp in Small Town, New Mexico, you’d been out here for a few weeks now. There were these strange atmospheric phenomenon that were going on that Jane felt were connected to the research the two of you were involved with. She called Dr. Selvig out to study it with you two, seeing as he was a pioneer in this field.
Just before you all headed out to the site, you decided to give Shannon a call, a strong case of homesickness hitting you.
You propped open your laptop and selected her contact and called. The familiar ring only went through twice before her wonderful face filled the screen.
Y/N! Hey!” she greeted delightfully.
“Hey!”
She stepped away from the computer and back to her workbench in Tony’s lab -- a very familiar sight to you.
“What’s up?”
“Just missing you. We’re about to go study that aurora again tonight, but Selvig is here now, so it’ll be another set of eyes,” you explained.
“Ah, yes, the light in the sky. Any headway on that?”
“None. Hopefully he’ll have some insight because I’m growing tired of staring at clouds each night. I’m not out here to be a storm chaser…”
“What’s this about storm chasing?” Tony suddenly said, entering your field of view.
“Hey, Tony,” you greeted in a friendly tone.
“Why don’t you ditch the desert and come to a real lab?” he asked as he walked backwards, looking at the camera before spinning to stand next to Shannon and work on the tool she was soldering. “You could have unlimited technology here. I could really use someone with your expertise on physics when it comes to landing gear for my suit. What do you say, Y/N? A real job, in air conditioning, not out in the dirt…?”
“Tempting,” you said with a smirk. “But I’m gonna stick to real work for now.”
“Did she just insinuate I don’t do real work?” Tony asked Shannon, pretending to be offended. She merely rolled her eyes and laughed, shaking her head.
“You two…” she lovingly chided. “When are you going to come home? I miss you. I need your world famous tacos.”
You laughed. “My tacos are trash and you know it.”
She returned the laugh before becoming serious again. “Seriously though. When? Things aren’t the same without you.”
You sighed, wondering the same thing. “I don’t know. I’m trying to get all this data, but since we have to wait every night… There’s no telling.”
“Well work hard,” she requested, sadness but understanding in her voice.
“I’m trying.”
“Seriously. Y/N, pick up the pace, I can’t take another week of this. She is killing the morale,” Tony remarked, gesturing to her with a tool.
“Okay, Tony, for you, I’ll try,” you said with heavy sarcasm, making the two of them smile. “Oh, shit, gotta go. Time to go watch the sky give me some pretty colors.” You rolled your eyes and told them goodbye before signing off of your laptop.
The four of you set off about twenty miles west from your little lab in the middle of town. You sat out there for several minutes, nothing happening. Selvig started to question Jane and you, and Darcy was getting restless. Jane was pleading that he just hold on a few more minutes. Finally, Darcy saw something and drew your attention to it.
This was no subtle aurora. This was… something else.
Jane ordered Darcy to drive, and all of you launched back into the camper full of equipment, bumping and knocking things as you went over the rough terrain of the desert. Darcy was pushing the camper to full speed, zooming towards the odd light in the sky when suddenly a funnel of light and wind swirled toward the ground. Jane was filming it all and you were taking in what you could.
Just as you were about to go through the tornado-like event, Darcy cut away from it.
“Darcy!” you shouted, needing to get inside this event.
“I’m not dying for six college credits!” she yelled before Jane tried to take the wheel from her.
The two of them fought over the steering wheel for a few seconds before -- THUD. You hit something… actually, you think it was someone. Darcy slammed on the brakes and all of you jumped out of the camper.
You ran over to a man lying on the ground as Jane said, “Do me a favor and don’t be dead.”
“I think legally that was your fault!” Darcy called.
“Get the first aid kit,” you commanded as you knelt beside him. You grabbed his wrist and felt for a pulse -- there was a strong one, good. Next you looked at his face to examine any damage -- but before you could do that, you were taken aback by his beauty. He was… handsome, very handsome. Then he opened his eyes.
He jumped up, muttering and stumbling around. Jane noticed the markings on the ground, and you saw them too, and they should’ve been important to you, but right now all you could focus on was this stranger.
“Hammer...Hammer!” he suddenly yelled.
“Yeah we can tell you’re hammered, that’s pretty obvious,” Darcy noted.
Jane began trying to note the markings on the ground, telling Erik to look at them, but he was telling her they needed to get this stranger to a hospital. Your mind wasn’t exactly focused on either thing as you watched him. There was something… familiar about him, but you were sure you’d never seen him before in your life.
“Father! Heimdall! I know you can hear me! Open the Bifrost!” the man commanded, making your hair stand on end.
“Bifrost,” you muttered inaudibly. You’d heard that a lot. Actually you’d heard that in Norse mythology. Clearly this man was delusional and thought he was some Viking God…
“You! What Realm is this? Alfheim? Nornheim?” the man asked of Darcy.
“New Mexico?”
She pulled out her taser and aimed it at him. “Darcy, no!” you demanded.
“You dare threaten me, Thor, with so puny of a weapon?!”
She pulled the trigger and he dropped, just as a mortal man would, making some of your suspicion (and hope) fizzle out. Of course gods weren’t real, that was just silly.
