I keep seeing this video about dress code and it brings back memories of me sitting in the office with my high school VP once (talking about someone else, I promise, but I digress) and I remember we got to discussing our uniform length reinforcement (teachers literally going around with rulers and measuring girls' jumpers in the morning) and the one sentence I remember hearing that woman say to me that terrified me was something about how it's important because if a female student ends up alone in a room with a male teacher, he should not have to worry about being tempted or straying. I wish I could recall her exact words because they were actually more worrisome than that, but she was basically saying that girls in their UNIFORMS still couldn't be alone with male teachers because that might result in these professional, grown, and mostly married men losing so much self control that they do something bad to the student they are with. 

In high school, I had no friends, my teachers were my best friends, but I couldn't be alone in a room with them unless the door was open and we were visible because, even in a fucking school environment, that's too dangerous. Whichever way you want to play the blame, be it on the underage girls who are too “sexy” in a super conservative uniform that it tempts the male teachers into assaulting them, or the men who have such a hard time controlling themselves around these girls, despite being their teacher(s), that being alone with them is just too much to bear..it’s all wrong. Horrifyingly so. You don’t hire teachers who you think would ever do that kind of thing, you already regulate what all the girls wear, so what the hell?

This is ramble-y and I didn’t expect to put it here so tl;dr - in high school my vice principal explained to me that it was dangerous for female students to be alone with male teachers because that type of situation might tempt the teacher into somehow sexually assaulting/harassing the student.
