At the Trek con I attended this weekend, someone was selling a tote bag, lapel pins and stickers with a big picture of Rom that said "He was a union man" in all caps. Saw them all over the con. I thought you'd appreciate that. Best wishes regarding the strike!

Today is a proud day

I stood up to management in a state wide meeting

For context, I am like level 2, and I stood up to my department head (my boss's boss's boss's boss's boss), in front of everyone on meeting (about half of the organization as the other half met this morning) in a recorded meeting (so others might watch this later in a make-up) in front of the state head (her boss's boss if I remember the hierarchy correctly) and other departments heads

Basically calling out the absolute bullshit that has been going on for the last 2 months and that recently in the past 2 weeks got worse.

(I will post my redacted speech below lol just so I don't name names and get in trouble, doubt that will happen but just in case)

And of fucking course, they miss the fucking point.

But that's fine because immediately all my coworkers across the state started dming me and teams messages thanking me for speaking and standing up against unfair treatment.

And all I feel like is that star trek meme

Been here for 12 yrs, 4 offices, been level 1, 2, and supervisor, we are currently failing the mission. The hard push for productivity is hurting the state,

2 months ago we were told we are completing 15 tasks daily, 25% above goal, but told still not enough.

I understand that we are still failing to meet quality, report shows this clearly, we aren't being given time to review cases, trainings and policy clarification like before, I am sending emails constantly to my manager with errors, finding we are requesting documents and applications we don't need or tasks marked complete and not worked, we are falling just short on timeliness requirements, but there is light at the end of that tunnel, but this productivity push is hurting training, quality, causing burnout, and hurting our citizens,

Tuesday last week, I had a customer call crying that we were going to take her benefits and ending with them laughing and thankful.

That is our mission, helping and improving new mexico. That is getting missed when we push only productivity and we need to remember the mission and remember that our workers are included in that as many of worker are our customers as well. We need to remember before we start push workers out the door.
